Start by connecting with the sense of ground.
Noticing where you feel contact with whatever is underneath you.
And as you start to turn your attention inwards,
Bring to mind an area where you are feeling internally stuck.
Maybe you're having a hard time making space to meditate,
Or you want to be moving your body more,
Getting more rest,
Or eating more nutritiously.
Whatever it is,
Just notice what happens as you put your attention on this stuck place.
As you feel into the stuckness,
Take note of any thoughts or impulses that arise.
Start to sense how your energy feels,
And pay attention to any ways that the stuck feeling might show up in or around your body.
See if you can feel the opposing forces in you that create the stuckness.
The motivation to want to do the thing,
And the resistance to doing it.
Now imagine stepping back and seeing or experiencing your resistance as a wall in front of you.
If you can visualize it,
If you can visualize it,
Note anything about the wall.
What it's made of,
How high and thick it is,
How long it goes on in either direction.
See if it's bare,
Or if there are plants or moss growing on it.
Notice if it has any openings,
Like windows or doors,
Or if it's totally solid.
As you feel ready,
I invite you to experiment with imagining yourself turning around and leaning against this wall.
Notice what happens as you allow the wall to support you,
And as you lean into it.
There is no expectation for this to feel good,
Though it might.
The invitation is to truly notice what arises in this experiment as you relate in this new way to the wall of your resistance.
Ask yourself,
What would it mean if my resistance wasn't actually in the way?
What if it wasn't the problem?
What if my resistance was actually pointing to something that I need,
Or that I need to understand?
And just notice what happens as you reflect on this possibility,
That maybe resistance isn't your enemy.
What if it's your ally?
As you continue to lean against the wall,
Checking again with your energy,
With the sensations in your body,
Your thoughts,
Seeing if anything has intensified,
Lessened,
Stayed the same,
Seeing if anything has intensified,
Lessened,
Stayed the same,
Or shifted in any way.
And as you're ready,
Start bringing your attention back to your sense of contact with the ground,
With whatever you're sitting on,
The chair,
With the floor.
And to the extent that it feels true for you,
You can offer some appreciation to your resistance,
That wall,
As well as to the motivation.
Start to bring your awareness back into the space around you,
Connecting with any sounds or the temperature of the air.
Allow yourself to take in the space around you,
Shifting and stretching as it feels good.
Now as you go into the rest of your day,
You can continue to notice your stuckness as it comes up,
And even also notice what happens when you bring to mind what it means to lean against that wall,
Rather than focusing on pushing against it.
