Transcript

I breathe like Buddha breathes.

I focus on the area where the air touches the nostrils.

I sense my chest filling and emptying.

I sense the breath as a bodily sensation.

Sensing that the breath is long and deep when the breath is long and deep.

Sensing that the breath is short and shallow when the breath is short and shallow.

When I notice that I've been lost in thought I return to the breath again and again.

Through the breath I come to some important discoveries that everything comes and goes.

That everything and everyone is intimately connected.

I completely depend on the air around me on non-me conditions.

I breathe thanks to plants.

I breathe with plants and animals and other people.

This I feels less rigid not an absolute border more like a swinging door or a blade of grass moved by the wind.

Breathing and being breathed.

See for yourself.

Sit with a straight back alert and relaxed.

Close your eyes or rest your eyes on the ground in front of you.

Let breathing be the focus of your attention.

Just be aware of the breath as it is here and now without controlling or trying to change it.

You can choose an area to focus on for example the nostrils,

The lips,

Stomach or chest.

Keep your attention there.

Sense your breath as bodily sensation,

For example the air against the nostrils or how the stomach rises and falls.

When your breath is deep,

Sense that it is deep.

When it is shallow,

Sense it as shallow.

When you inhale,

Sense that you inhale.

When you exhale,

Sense that you exhale.

When you notice that you have disappeared into thoughts and away from the situation here and now,

You can turn your attention back to the breath as it is here and now.
