Our body, mind and emotions are intimately connected. Medical studies indicate that many of our physical ailments have been generated with the intention of distracting our conscious mind from the emotions that we keep hidden to avoid confronting us with feelings that are intolerable to us. When we expose these emotions, the symptoms begin to disappear. In this meditation we scan the body to facilitate the healing of physical and emotional pain.

Hello,

This is Flavia from Vibrating with the Light.

Thank you for joining me today.

For no one is a secret that the body,

The mind and the emotions are closely related.

And yet,

Even with this knowledge,

We fail to recognise that many of our physical disorders have an emotional origin rather than organic.

Dr.

John Sarno spent 24 years of his life studying and treating emotionally induced physical disorders.

In several of his published books,

He makes reference to scientific studies that relate emotional factors to pathological conditions such as hypertension and that show the emotions such as loneliness,

Sadness,

Anger,

Stress and depression,

Aggravated structural physical processes such as herniated discs and fibromyalgia.

During his medical practice,

He found that various disorders like ulcers,

Migraines,

Back and neck pain were a result of hisULM- Fa Eastern back and neck pain were a result of an emotional process.

Emotional factors activated a reaction of certain tissues in the body which in turn produced pain or other neurological symptoms.

The most fascinating thing about his finding was that the symptoms were aimed at diverting attention from hidden emotions.

And when these emotions were exposed,

They were brought to consciousness,

The pain end up disappearing.

Sometimes emotions are deeply buried in our subconscious because they cannot be tolerated.

Therefore,

They are repressed and as they seek and struggle to be recognized,

The subconscious mind must do something to prevent it from rising to the conscious mind and what it does is produce a distraction.

For this reason,

Many people suffer from physical disorders with no apparent cause or solution.

These repressed emotions may have been generated in childhood,

Be the result of pressures that have been self-imposed or a reaction to the problems of daily life.

Whatever their origin,

The important thing is to recognize these emotions.

Keep in mind that the pain is real.

It produces a physical reaction that involves muscles,

Nerves and tendons and can affect your back,

Your neck,

Your shoulders,

Your legs,

Your knees,

Your skin,

Even your gastrointestinal or circulatory system.

In this meditation,

We focus on our physical body,

Doing a scan to detect the discomforts,

Pain,

The tensions that we may be experiencing.

Recognize the emotional weight that we are carrying to release and heal.

You may prefer to lie down for this meditation.

Whatever feels comfortable for you,

Close your eyes,

Take a slow deep breath in and gently let it go.

Take a slow deep breath in and gently let it go.

Once again,

Take a slow deep breath in and slowly let it go.

Now,

We are going to pay attention to our head.

Notice any tension you may have in your eyebrows,

Your temple,

Your forehead.

This is where much of your daily stress is stored.

It is the place where we make important decisions and where we are confused about which way to go,

It stores this pressure.

An intense headache may be distracting you from the pressures of your daily life.

Take a moment to identify if there is any space in your life that you can release something you no longer need,

That no longer nourishes you or that has ceased to serve you.

Take a long deep breath in and as you exhale,

Give yourself permission to release all that limits you.

Take a slow deep breath in and as you exhale,

Feel the softness in your head.

Now,

Move your attention to your shoulders and notice if there is any kind of tension.

When our shoulders hurt us,

They are stiff or tense,

Generally indicates that we are carrying an excess of emotional load.

Many times we carry other people's problems.

This is an indication that the load is too great.

If you feel any tension in your shoulders,

Check if there is an excess of worries in your life.

With the following inhalation,

Lift your shoulders towards your head and as you exhale,

Let them fall.

Once more,

Take a deep breath in,

Lift your shoulders towards your head and as you exhale,

Let them fall.

Now,

We pay attention to our neck where feelings of resentment,

Rigidity accumulate in our decisions,

In our points of view,

In our ability also to forgive.

If you feel some kind of discomfort or pain in this area,

Check if it's time to forgive,

To release those resentments that you may have accumulated over the years,

Over the past months or weeks.

Take a deep breath into your neck and as you exhale,

Feel a little tension release.

Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,

Feel the softness return to your neck.

Now,

Pay attention to your back which supports you,

Which allows you to get up every day.

Note how your back is feeling in this day.

This is where we store emotions such as loneliness and confusion.

Our back tells us how sustained we feel,

How supported we perceive that we are.

If you experience a lot of pain in your back,

You may need a little more support,

A little more help.

Maybe you have a great emotional weight,

You feel a great load accumulated over the years.

Review deeply if there are repressed emotions from your childhood.

If there is some kind of deep pain that you have not yet recognised.

Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,

Let your back release a little weight.

Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,

Feel how the tension dissolves in each muscle,

In each tissue of your back.

Now,

Pay attention to your stomach.

Recognise if you have been having any difficulty digesting food,

Any discomfort or some kind of burning.

Our stomach not only digests food but also emotions,

Information.

If you are experiencing discomfort in this area,

Ask yourself,

What am I not digesting or processing at this time?

Take a deep breath in this area and as you exhale,

Let all the emotions be digested,

Be processed.

Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,

Feel the softness that overwhelms your stomach.

Now,

We pay attention to our hips which perform a very important function to sustain us.

Fears are stored in this area.

Fears of facing changes,

Fears of facing new challenges.

How are your hips today?

If you feel any pain or tension,

Identify what is changing in your life.

Take a deep breath in your hips and as you exhale,

Release any fear you may have.

Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,

Release your fears.

Now,

We turn our attention to our knees which express the level of demand we have on ourselves.

When we are very demanding,

Our knees can perceive an overload.

Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,

Give yourself permission to relax.

Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,

Release the load that you do not need now.

Now,

Take your attention to your legs,

Your ankles and your feet.

Notice if you have any pain,

Tension in this area.

Our legs support our decisions and allow us to advance.

If you experience discomfort in your legs,

Maybe somewhere in your heart,

You are reluctant to continue on the path you have taken.

Check if there is any aspect of your life that needs a transformation.

Recognize what no longer gives you pleasure.

Remember that you always have an opportunity to make a change,

To take a step that takes you from where you are at this moment to where you really want to be.

Take a slow,

Deep breath in and as you exhale,

Feel all the tension dissolve in your legs.

Take a long,

Deep breath in and as you exhale,

Feel the softness return to your legs.

To deepen your healing,

We will use a mantra.

Sat,

Chit,

Ananda.

Repeat it once aloud.

Sat,

Chit,

Ananda.

Now whisper it.

Sat,

Chit,

Ananda.

Existence,

Consciousness and bliss.

Repeat the mantra silently over and over again.

And when we finish,

I will let you know.

Do not worry if at some point you get distracted.

It is natural.

Just turn your attention back to the mantra.

Sat,

Chit,

Ananda.

Let's begin.

Let's begin.

Let's begin.

Let's begin.

Let's begin.

Let's begin.

Let's begin.

Let's begin.

Sat,

Chit,

Ananda.

You can stop repeating the mantra.

Keep your eyes closed for a moment and let the stillness,

The silence settle in you.

Take a long,

Deep breath in and very gently let it go.

During the day,

The week,

Pay attention to the signals of your body and take a moment to contemplate every aspect of your life.

Recognize if you have any emotional wound to release and heal.

This process allows you to let go of what could cause physical pain and prevent it from reappearing.

This is Flavia from Vibrating with the Light.

Namaste.

Dr Sarno’s books helped me escape years of chronic pain. After a year of stress teaching middle school during the pandemic my body started to speak to me again and this meditation is a great reminder that it is just trying to protect me. Much thanks. I will replay it often🌻
