Welcome to the practice of yoga nidra.

The first thing we need to do for our practice is to get comfortable.

Wherever you are,

Find yourself a place of comfort.

If you can lie down during this practice and let go,

That is best.

However,

You can do this practice wherever you are.

Free yourself from any distractions,

Find comfort,

And begin to relax,

Closing your eyes.

We are going to welcome everything that comes into our awareness.

We are going to recognize,

And we are just going to witness.

Have no expectations,

Just allow yourself to be and to experience.

I invite you to follow my voice through this practice,

But if you lose my voice,

It's okay.

Just come back to my voice when you can.

If you fall asleep,

It's okay.

If your mind takes you away with thoughts,

It's okay.

Just come back to my voice and my invitations when you can.

My first invitation to you is to get comfortable.

Allow yourself to completely relax.

With the eyes closed,

Feel the body sinking.

Feel your eyeballs relax into their sockets.

Feel your tongue release.

Feel the muscles of your body relax,

Sink.

Even feel your skin as if it could melt off your body,

Sinking,

Relaxing more.

We will begin our yoga nidra with the sound of a bell.

I invite you now to become aware of the sounds that are around you.

Notice what are you hearing right now in your space,

What comes into your awareness.

Do you hear beyond your space?

Do you hear within your space?

Do you hear inside your body?

Notice the sounds around you.

And I invite you to become aware of the sense of touch.

What do you feel touching you right now?

Do you feel your clothes on your body?

Do you feel something else,

A mat,

A towel,

A blanket?

Notice what you feel touching you right now.

And I invite you to tap into the sense of smell and taste.

The two senses connected,

What sense are coming in through your nose or what tastes are in your mouth right now?

And finally,

In your mind's eye,

See yourself now,

Comfortable,

Relaxed.

Whether you're lying down or sitting,

Wherever you are,

See yourself.

Then bring your awareness to your heart space.

Take a moment to feel the heart,

Feel the heart beating inside your body.

Can you hear the beat of your heart?

Feel the beat of your heart.

Notice the sensations of the heart moving blood into your body.

With that awareness in your heart,

Become aware of a felt sense of gratitude.

Gratitude for this time,

For you to relax and to look within.

In your heart space,

See a beautiful tree,

The tree of life.

Your heart is your life force.

As you feel it,

See that tree of life.

Picture a most beautiful tree.

What do you see in your beautiful tree?

What are the leaves like?

What color do you see?

How big is the tree?

What are the branches like?

What's the trunk like?

The awareness of this tree in your heart,

Begin to allow that tree to expand.

Allow this beautiful tree to expand throughout your body.

With your awareness in your tree,

Notice what it smells like.

And notice how does it feel to be in the presence of this beautiful tree of life.

With your awareness in your heart space and the presence of the tree of life,

Allow that tree to expand.

To move beyond your heart,

Allow its branches to grow,

Growing up out of your heart towards your collarbone.

Feel the branches reach your collarbone.

Feel the branches come out to your shoulders.

Feel the branches move down the upper arms,

The lower arms,

To your wrists,

To your hands.

Feel the branches expanding from your heart all the way down both your arms and out your fingertips.

Feel the branches in your fingers,

The tip of your body.

Notice how the tree of life feels expanding down your arms.

Then allow that tree to grow again from the heart,

Reaching down your ribcage,

To your stomach,

Down to your groin,

Out to your hips.

Feel the sensations of the tree growing down your torso.

Then expand the branches down your thighs,

Your knees,

Your calves,

To your ankles.

Feel the branches grow into your feet.

Bend the branches grow into your toes.

Feel the sensation of the tree branches down your torso,

Down your legs,

All the way to your toes.

Now bring the awareness back to the heart to allow the tree to grow upwards.

From the heart space,

Feel it expand up your neck,

To your chin,

To your cheeks,

Your nose,

Your lips,

Your forehead,

Out the crown of your head.

Feel the tree move upward,

Up your face,

Out your head.

Now feel the expansion of the tree in your whole body.

The tree expanding out your arms,

Down your torso and your legs,

And up your face.

Your body is full of this abundance of the tree of life.

Your body is full of goodness.

Feel the expansion of the beautiful tree.

Allow yourself to become aware of the strong branches of your tree,

The dark,

Solid,

Heavy branches of your tree.

Become aware of the sensation of this darkness,

This heaviness,

This groundedness in your body.

Feel the whole body grounded,

Heavy,

Solid.

Then become aware of the leaves of the tree,

The thin,

Light,

Lightly colored leaves of your tree,

All over your body.

Your body filled with lightness,

With lift,

With abundance of life.

Now I invite you to become aware of your favorite flower.

Visualize your favorite flower.

What does it look like?

What are the colors of your favorite flower?

What does it smell like?

What is the scent of your favorite flower?

What does it feel like to hold your favorite flower?

Visualize your favorite flower blooming from your tree of life in your heart.

Visualize that flower growing from your heart space.

Feel the bloom in your heart.

Allow yourself to become aware of this flower blooming in other places on your tree and in your body.

Allow the flower to bloom on your right shoulder.

Allow the flower to bloom on your left shoulder.

Allow the flower to bloom on your belly.

Allow the flower to bloom on your right knee,

On your left knee.

Allow the flower to bloom on your third eye in the middle of your forehead.

Feel all the blooming of these flowers around your body.

Feel the life and the abundance they represent.

Allow yourself to sink into this place of abundance.

Then I invite you to come back to your heart space,

Knowing that this place of abundance is always there for you.

Feel your heart space once again.

Feel the beating of your heart.

Hear the beat of your heart.

Again,

Become aware of the felt sense of gratitude.

Gratitude for the time to relax and look within.

Then we will begin to check in with space-time.

Bring your awareness back to your mind's eye to see yourself once again.

See yourself relaxed in your space.

Become aware of your senses of taste and smell.

Become aware of the sense of touch.

And finally,

Bring your awareness to the sounds around you,

The sounds from within your body,

Within the room,

Beyond the room.

As we close our yoga nidra practice,

We will leave feeling the abundance and fullness of life,

Abundance within,

Abundance without.

We will cultivate joy and strength for our mind,

Body,

And soul.

We will close our yoga nidra with the sound of a bell in three,

Two,

One.

Slowly allow yourself to deepen your breath.

Slowly begin wiggling your fingers.

Wiggle your toes.

Slowly roll the wrists,

Roll the ankles,

Roll your head side to side.

Bring life into your body slowly.

When you're ready,

Allow yourself to stretch your arms over your head.

Give your body a long,

Gentle stretch as if you've just woken up in the morning.

And release.

If you're lying down,

Allow yourself to roll to the side,

To sit up.

If you're seated,

Take a few more moments.

And when you're ready,

Gently bring your hands to your heart center,

Bow your head.

Allow your eyes to open gently.

And have a beautiful,

Abundant day.

Namaste.
