A meditation to honor making a decision.
There comes a time when we are faced with a choice when we must make a decision.
Even in those times when we turn away from the knowing it is time,
We must recognize that is a decision.
Not making a decision is a decision.
Perhaps it is time to recognize this.
Perhaps it is time to honor our decision making process as well as honoring past decisions no matter how things turned out.
Allow yourself this time to imagine this.
Breathe in and out slowly and easily.
Let your mind bring you to a situation in which you had to make a decision.
Allow yourself a moment to recall the process and the difficulty in taking a risk to choose.
Choosing yes or no.
Going with flow or stopping the action.
Sticking with something or moving on.
The most important part of this meditation is to stop judging or second guessing yourself.
Allow yourself this moment to recognize your efforts and take the next few breaths to say to yourself,
Good job.
You showed up to the issue.
You considered all the factors.
And you made a choice.
That really is all we are expected to do.
If things didn't turn out as planned,
Take this moment to forgive yourself.
Then ask if there is anything else required on your part at this time.
If you sense that more is required of you,
Breathe in slow and easy.
In and out.
Ask for more information and listen closely to what you hear.
It is important that you resolve to follow up in the coming days.
In the second half of this meditation,
Let us imagine a situation that currently needs a response from you,
But you are unsure of how to proceed.
In this case,
It helps to take a moment or two to consciously stop,
To breathe,
And tune in to that deeper part of ourselves and listen.
Sometimes our choices seem to make more sense then.
So as you contemplate what decision you are facing now,
Or even decisions that must be made,
Take this moment to stop once again.
Close your eyes and simply breathe.
In and out.
Slow and easy.
Gently.
Calmly.
Allow yourself to focus on this decision or action.
Continue to breathe in and out.
Slow and easy.
Gently.
Calmly.
Let your mind bring into focus the scene or the situation.
Question asking a question so that you may gain clarity.
For example,
You might ask,
What do I need to know in order to make a good decision?
Simply let go of control and allow a deeper wisdom to surface.
Do this now in your next few breaths.
In and out.
Breathing slow and easy.
Eyes gently closed.
Palms open.
Face up or face down.
Loosening your body when you sense tension.
See if any symbols,
Colors,
Or other visuals come into view.
Allow yourself to notice everything.
And now,
When you are ready,
Take a few more slow,
Gentle breaths and resolve to remember what is important to this decision.
Bring your awareness back into this time and place.
And as you go forward,
Take the next few minutes to record what you recall and then consciously give thanks for the assistance.
Trust that you are ready to take the correct action in this matter.
And again,
Eyes open,
Ready to move forward.
And now,
When you are ready,
Take a few more slow,
Gentle breaths and resolve to remember what is important to this decision.
