At the beginning of any class or anything that you are trying to learn,
It is very important that we invoke the blessing of Lord Ganesha,
Who is the remover of obstacles.
So the mantra that you're going to be learning today is perfect for when you are at the beginning of a class,
You are with your teacher and you are learning or you are teaching yourself something and you want to recite this so that you can seek the Lord's blessings that is free of obstacles,
Obstacles such as poor memory,
The inability to concentrate or focus or even poor health,
And you're seeking blessings so that you can have a learning,
A proper learning environment,
A conducive environment for you to be able to absorb the material that you are trying to learn.
Whatever that subject matter is,
Whether it's easy,
Whether it is difficult,
We want to invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
So this prayer is very important for not only the teacher,
But also the student.
And this prayer is going to be,
I'm going to teach this in a way that is using the three svaras or the tones that are used in Vedic chanting.
The first thing that I'm going to do is say the entire chant,
The entire mantra in its entirety,
And then I'm going to break it up in half and I'm going to invite you to repeat after me.
And we're going to do that twice.
And then we're going to put the whole thing together.
And then at the very end,
I'm going to explain the meaning of this.
So that when you're chanting this for yourself,
You can really feel the power of the mantra that you are saying.
So let's begin.

So the meaning of this mantra,
We are praying to Lord Ganesha dressed in white,
Splendid white,
And he pervades the entire universe and he shines radiantly like the rays of the full moon.
And he has four mighty strong arms and a very charming happy face.
And we are meditating on him,
Lord Ganesha,
That all obstacles may be silenced and our minds be made peaceful so that we can learn with a free and clean and clear mind.
Namaste.
