Welcome to day four of the human experience.
Find a quiet and cozy place to comfortably sit or recline as you permit yourself to decompress.
Oftentimes we have certain expectations about how we should feel when going through certain situations.
And the disappointment arises when we come to realize that it didn't look like what we so forcefully crafted in our minds.
What we cling on to is a false sense of security because the unknown is uncontrollable.
And we humans have an iffy relationship with control.
And this is when we lose ourselves to the harsh waves of our emotional sea.
It is here where we attach meaning and create a loop of suffering.
The key is to be able to tap into our center and allow our emotions to flow out of our system in a healthy way.
Today's practice stretches us out of our comfort zone,
Especially with our desire to control or always be right.
We live in such a fast paced world that slowing down and tuning in seems almost foreign.
We have become so accustomed to living in discord that we truly don't know how to listen.
Instead,
We get stuck in a reactive emotional pattern and then we make a lifestyle out of it.
We become narrow minded and develop bigotry tendencies.
We see nothing else but our own perspective and beliefs.
There are many dimensions to the art of listening and there's a vast difference between listening and hearing.
Hearing refers to the acoustic absorption of auditory information,
Whereas listening is something that can only be done with your entire being.
Today will be an entry point where we can discern between listening and hearing.
Ever so sweetly,
Bring your attention to your breath.
As you watch your breath,
Feel the rise of the belly with the inhalation and sense how that connects you to the space around you.
Now with the exhalation,
Feel how your body softly releases its weight into the support of where you sit.
Take a few conscious breaths on your own,
Making any micro adjustments so that you can set yourself up to be as comfortable as possible.
And when you sense some form of release,
Whether it be in your mind,
In your body or emotional realm,
Let your breath become effortless,
Dissolving any control around it.
With eyes closed,
You begin to awaken the divine ear that truly listens.
Perhaps you hear noises from your outer world,
Cars,
Neighbors talking or the air conditioner.
Now begin to attune to the subtleties,
To the world within you.
Allow these subtle sounds to come into your awareness.
Perhaps your breath flowing inside of you,
Your gentle heartbeats or any digestive sounds.
Can you tune into listening bone deep?
What is being revealed to you as you allow awareness to be at the forefront?
Allow yourself to sweetly settle here into the vastness of your being,
In the warm,
Nurturing cocoon under the cover of darkness,
Yet feeling the safety underneath you,
Holding you.
And as you release your body weight even more,
Begin to feel you are lying on the softest and smoothest silk you have ever touched.
As you calibrate your senses,
You realize that you are being cradled by a silken web.
And the more you connect to this very present moment,
Your awareness begins to oscillate,
Expanding and contracting.
And in synchronistic fashion,
Your protective web also expands and contracts in co-centric circles.
This is the birth of your ability to deeply listen with pure,
Divine love.
You sit at the heart of creation on top of your silky web.
And through the different silken strands,
Your senses heighten,
Your connection strengthens.
Your ability to listen is now multi-layered,
Noting that the vibrations traveling through the strands are signaling information to you.
Your consciousness is connected to the making of this elaborate and intricate silk net that enhances your divine ear.
This isn't something you learn to do,
Rather it is something you are born knowing.
It is instinctual.
At this level of frequency,
You see your own individuality clearly and realize that something else exists behind individuality.
A kind of witnessing awareness that is greater than your sense of individuality.
This is the power of empathy,
To dissolve into oneness.
Invite one deep conscious breath in and out as you dispel patterns of discord and welcome compassion into your whole being.
Take another deep breath in and out as you release any notion of narrow-mindedness and invite in your ability to see the resiliency of others and of yourself.
Now with the next conscious deep breath,
Set your intention for the rest of your day and come back to your natural breath.
Whenever you feel ready,
Bring your attention to the space around you and gently open your eyes.
Thank you for journeying with me today.
