Yoga Nidra: The Light Of Love
by Vanessa Naja
This is a full Yoga Nidra practice that encompasses all the layers of existence moving from gross to subtle to ultimately access the unbounded divine self. The focus during visualization is the Divine Heart, exploring it physically, emotionally, energetically, and spiritually. The use of Sankalpa in this practice has the potential to reprogram the subconscious mind with the unrealized truth that can help you ascend to your highest potential. Transcript
The practice of Yoga Nidra is a deeply transformative experience where you progressively move through subtler states of consciousness to ultimately connect with your unbounded divine self.
The focus of the practice is returning to the self.
One of many potentials is the reprogramming of your subconscious mind to release limiting beliefs that are no longer serving you,
Replacing them with the truths that help you ascend to your highest potential.
In the practice,
You train yourself to stay aware in subtler states of consciousness as your body completely relaxes into a sleeping state.
Accessing your subconscious in this state gives you the opportunity to create miraculous transformation and healing in all areas of your life.
Lay your body down to rest on your back with your arms released at the sides,
Palms facing up,
Legs stretched out from the hip sockets.
Create as much comfort for yourself as possible.
You may want to rest your head on a thin pillow or place pillows or a bolster underneath your knees to support the lower back if needed.
Cover yourself with a blanket for warmth and security.
Allow your body to feel heavy and sink into the surface that you're resting upon,
Releasing the grip of all muscles from the bone.
Feel your scalp and forehead soften.
Let the globes of the eyes sink deeply into their sockets as the corners of the eyelids gently widen.
Release any expression from your face,
Allowing all the tiny muscles to let go.
Let your head become heavy,
Softening any tension in the neck and throat.
Give your shoulders permission to let go and sink into the surface beneath you,
Allowing your collarbones to widen and your heart to open.
Release any tension you may be holding in your belly,
Allowing it to gently expand with each inhale and sink with each exhale.
Feel the grounding of your sacrum and the weight of your legs,
Tops of the thigh bones resting deep in the hip sockets.
Bring your awareness into your heart.
It is now time to form your sankalpa,
Your vow of truth,
Your firm resolution.
Your sankalpa is your heart's deepest desire,
Something you wish to manifest in your life now.
It is a short,
Positive statement made in the present tense,
Starting with the words,
I am,
Followed by a quality that you deeply desire to manifest in your life.
Some examples might be,
I am whole,
I am loved,
I am connected.
Take a few moments to receive your sankalpa and once you've formed it,
Continue to use it in your yoga nita practice until it has manifested in your life.
Repeat it to yourself silently three times with firmness and conviction that this unrealized truth is becoming evident in your life now.
The practice of yoga nidra begins now.
I will now guide you through rotation of consciousness.
Becoming more aware of and present with your physical body through this practice helps deepen the body-mind connection,
Allowing for an increase in the flow of energy in your body.
Energy flows where attention goes.
Place your full awareness into the body part that I name.
Feel it from the inside,
Moving the light of your awareness from one part to the next as I guide you.

Bring your awareness into your rib cage and into your physical heart behind and slightly left of your sternum.
Move into both lungs.
Feel the inside of your throat and follow it up into your mouth.
Feel your tongue,
Teeth,
And gums.
Bring your awareness backwards into your brain stem at the base of the skull.
Follow it up to the back brain.
Move forward to the front brain.
Feel the right hemisphere of your brain and now the left hemisphere.
Feel your entire brain front to back and side to side.
Feel your entire right arm and your entire left arm.
Both arms together.
Feel your entire right leg,
Entire left leg.
Feel both legs together.
Feel your entire torso from the pelvis to the collarbones.
Feel the entire neck and head.
Now feel the entire body all at once,
Spreading the light of your awareness through your entire body.
You will now explore the energy body by deepening the awareness of the breath.
Witnessing the breath and maintaining conscious attention on it allows you to deepen your connection to the subconscious mind and aids in developing focus and concentration.
Notice your natural breath without any need to change it.
Just observing your breath as it is happening now.
Noticing without judgment the experience of being breathed.
Effortless.
Simply receiving and releasing the breath.
Bring your awareness to your nostrils.
Feeling the breath flowing in and out.
Feel the breath flowing down the back of the throat and into your lungs.
Feel the expansion of the lungs and the rib cage with no desire or need to change what is.
Being present and observing the act of being breathed.
Feel the gentle way your lungs massage your heart with each inhale and exhale.
Notice the gentle shape shifting of the body with the breath.
The pores of the skin expanding on the inhale and contracting on the exhale.
When you are breathing in and out.
Bring your awareness to the energetic body reaching beyond the bounds of your physical body.
Feel the energetic expansion with each breath.
Bring your awareness into your heart center.
On the inhale see a beautiful pink light entering your heart and on the exhale allow this light to expand into your entire body and beyond.
Continue to breathe with this pink light.
Release your focus from the breath.
You will now awaken opposite sensations in the emotional body.
Allowing yourself to fully feel and integrate life experience without trying to change it is a vitally important skill and contains within it the potential of deep healing.
Being willing to feel in a completely relaxed state without attachment or aversion allows you to process repressed emotions that give rise to mental unease.
Bring forth the emotion of grief in your body.
You might recall a memory or just allow grief to rise up while letting go of any stories attached to it.
Allow yourself to deeply feel grief without attachment,
Aversion or attachment.
Now give yourself permission to feel joy.
Recall a memory where you experienced deep joy.
Release any story attached to the memory and allow yourself to deeply feel joy in your heart without attachment,
Aversion or judgment.
Bring forth the feeling of grief once again,
Allowing yourself to feel it in a deeply relaxed state.
Again,
Experience joy in complete relaxation,
No judgment,
Attachment or aversion.
Now simultaneously feel both grief and joy,
Reconciling these seeming opposites into a unified state of equanimity.
Release the feelings of grief and joy.
Rest your awareness in the dark empty space behind your closed eyelids and forehead.
I will now call forth numerous images.
Visualize these images in the space of imagination and creativity as I call them out.
This practice helps to reopen your creative channels and strengthens your ability to choose where you put your focus,
An important skill that allows for more joy and healing in your life.
The reflection of a full moon on a calm lake.
Children joyfully playing together on a playground.
A cloud formation in the shape of a heart.
A cloud formation in the shape of a heart.

A good Samaritan providing a warm blanket to a homeless person on a cold winter's night.
A mother nursing her newborn baby.
The word love drawn out in the sand.
A volunteer hand-feeding orphaned kittens with a dropper bottle.

An old couple sitting together on their porch holding hands.
A baby chick hatching out of her egg.
A green 12-petaled lotus containing a six-pointed star.
A wild chestnut mare galloping across a field.
A pair of ducks swimming together across a pond.
Release these images and bring your focus into your heart.
Feel its magnetic beat.
Feel your breath gently massaging your heart.
Fully immerse yourself in the sacred space inside.
Feel the billions of cells in the walls of your heart.
Feel the flow of blood through its chambers.
Bring awareness to your heart's ability to pump the blood through your entire body bringing nourishment and life to every cell.
Deep inside your heart,
Light in the center.
See a speck of bright,
Beautiful golden light.
Feel this light becoming brighter and more radiant with each inhale and expanding with each exhale.
Feel the light seeping into every cell,
Lighting up the DNA inside the nucleus.
Feel it spreading into all of the molecules and atoms of your heart.
This is the light of love.
Feel how brightly your heart is glowing with a deep,
Universal love.
Feel the love emanating from your heart,
Flowing in all directions.
Feel it expanding and radiating to all parts of the universe,
Infinite time and space.
Sit deeply inside the divine glow of love radiating from your heart.
I will leave you in silence for a few moments to bask in the glorious,
Infinite light of your loving heart,
Resting in the pure bliss of your own being.
San kalpa.
San kalpa.
Watering the seed of your san kalpa as you formed it in the beginning of the practice nourishes the resolve within you so it may blossom into fruition.
Allow your san kalpa to reemerge from deep within your heart.
Repeat it silently three times and allow it to spread through all levels of your existence,
Time and space.
Bring your awareness back into your heart.
Return to its gentle beating within your chest.
Slowly deepen your breath.
Feel your breath pressing against the boundaries of your physical body.
Slowly and gently,
In your own time,
Start to move your fingers and toes.
Allow the movement to spread into your arms and legs.
When you feel moved to do so,
Spread out into a big stretch.
And when you are ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.

Thank you beautiful and different from other more traditional Yoga Nidra. I have liked when we enter the inside of the dody, lungs and heart as organs. Also intresting to explore the state of grief and joy.
