Is EFT tapping magic?
You wouldn't believe how many times people have asked me this.
Especially from clients after their first session.
They typically come in feeling anxious,
Overwhelmed,
Stressed out.
Maybe they're dealing with some physical pain,
Fear,
Anxiety.
The list goes on.
But they come in because they need help and they can't find anything else that seems to be working.
Usually when somebody comes to see me,
I might be one of their last resorts.
Because after all EFT tapping is kind of weird.
But whatever the reason they end up coming in and we sit down and we start to use tapping.
We start tapping on these specific points in our body while we discuss how they're feeling.
All the negative emotions.
The sadness,
The anxiety,
The stress.
Where they feel it in their body,
How it shows up,
When and where,
What it's linked to.
We go in.
We go deep.
Typically what happens is in a matter of minutes they go from this intense negative place to feeling more relaxed,
Settling into their chair,
Taking some deep breaths,
Finding a new sense of calm and peace.
That's typically when they start asking questions.
How is this possible?
Is this magic?
How did this happen?
What am I really doing?
So I thought I'd share with you today exactly what EFT is,
How it works,
And why it's so important that we practice this method.
This is something you can do on your own and or do with a professional.
I'm Trina Lee and I'm a certified EFT practitioner.
When I first started using EFT tapping on myself,
I too couldn't believe how fast and easy this technique worked.
On relieving me from emotional pain that I had been carrying around for years and years that felt stuck in my body.
I then decided I have to get certified in this and help other people experience the same thing.
So what is EFT and why does it feel like magic?
EFT stands for emotional freedom technique.
It's also known as tapping.
The reason why it's also known as tapping is because we are tapping with our fingertips on specific acupressure points on the body that we know are related to how our body holds emotion.
What studies have shown us is that in just one session of EFT,
You will lower your cortisol 24 to 50 percent in just that one session.
The other thing that's been shown to do is to turn off the fight-flight-freeze response,
Which is held in the amygdala in the brain.
And so that makes it fantastic for those at risk for PTSD or those with PTSD.
Most of us are walking around in that fight-flight-freeze response.
Almost all the time.
There's so many stressors coming at us and they all feel life-threatening.
So EFT turns that response off so you can go back to your baseline of feeling calm and peaceful,
Maybe even hopeful and optimistic.
The other thing that EFT does is it calms your nervous system.
So while you're tapping on these specific meridian endpoints on your body,
While talking about your stress,
Your big anxiety,
Your sadness,
Your pain,
It's sending a message to your brain that you're safe,
Even though you have these big negative emotions.
And what happens is you begin to feel that safety again,
And that is why clients end up taking that deep breath,
Relaxing into their chair,
Feeling peaceful and calm in a way that they haven't felt in a long,
Long time.
The beautiful thing is this isn't fleeting.
This is going to continue.
And the more that you practice EFT,
When you feel these big emotions come up,
Less likely you're going to feel controlled by them.
Because the truth is you have the power to handle your emotions.
You have the power to change them.
So I hope that this has explained to you a little bit about EFT,
Why it does feel so magical,
And how it can help you feel safe.
Why it does feel so magical,
And how powerful this easy technique is.
