Welcome to Tranquil Spirits Podcast.
I'm very happy to have you join me today.
In our busy lives we usually find it difficult to do things for ourselves for relaxation and our minds become busy.
Anxiety can set in and we feel overwhelmed with what we have to do and that way we tend to do nothing which leads to even more frustration and even more stress.
Journaling can help greatly with these many situations by releasing some of the stress built up in our heads.
My name is Jacqueline and I want to share with you some of the ways that journaling helps me deal with these kind of situations.
When we feel overwhelmed with things going on in life which can be upsetting,
By writing down our feelings we can ease that feeling of stress and overwhelmment.
Sometimes we don't even know why we're upset but when we journal we can help bring out the reasons that we're feeling this way.
The more we write,
Without thinking about it,
Without reading what we've written,
But the more that we just write the more we can get to the bottom of how we're feeling.
Another way is when we're trying to make a decision about something.
By journaling you can focus directly on the decision and eliminate otherwise overwhelming mind chatter that goes on.
We can write down the pros and cons.
We can write down the reasons that we want to do these things.
We can find the solution simply by writing out our problems or simply writing down what we feel won't be right with that decision.
When we talk about it to others we may not get the solution that we require,
We just get other people's views and opinions.
But by writing for five minutes can be just what we need to make the right decision for ourselves.
Another useful time to journal is when our brains feel full because we've got so much going on in life that we feel unable to think clearly.
By journaling we can get everything out of our head and then prioritise and eliminate unnecessary thoughts.
This is such a useful tool to do.
I'm not talking necessarily about making lists,
I'm just talking about getting everything out onto paper and then seeing exactly what we need to do.
And that way the list doesn't become overwhelming,
Just a huge great long list.
We can then prioritise it into groups.
A great way that I find to do this is either by writing everything out and then highlighting it all with different colour highlighter pens or by going down the side of each one with different numbers for different categories such as things to do now,
Things to do next week,
You know that kind of thing.
Whichever way works for you but it's a great tool to have.
The next one is when we've had a great day or are experiencing something really fun.
To journal these things in a special book is great for when we have times when we're feeling sad or we're feeling lonely or we're feeling negative.
We can pick this book up and read some of the things that we've journaled and what this will do would take us straight back to that time,
That time when we were happy,
That time when we felt so good.
It takes us right out of our bad mood because as we remember by reading the words on the page we also remember the feelings that we had in those moments.
So journaling can be a very positive things for the future for when we need to snap ourselves out of a negativity or whatever it may be.
So I like to buy a really,
Really nice notebook for this.
One that I like to pick up and look at.
One that makes me smile just when I look at the outside cover of the notebook and then when I read the things inside they make me smile and feel good.
Journal to explore your mind and it can bring up ideas,
Dreams and goals that you might want to or used to want to achieve.
Sometimes we don't really know where we want to go or what we want to do or how we want to do it and so journaling is a great way to create new goals,
New dreams.
Decide on the places that you want to travel,
The things that you want to do.
Create in that bucket list.
You might not have anything on a bucket list or maybe just one or two things but once you start to write all of a sudden that this becomes longer and it's almost as if you open up this whole new world of thought within your own head.
Our mind stores thousands of pictures and memories of fleeting conversations with others or as we flick through TV channels the things that we think we've forgotten about but things that we had wanted to do in that moment.
By journaling this brings those things to the fore.
They're things that we've kind of pushed back because we feel we have no time for them but once we start unlocking that imagination again with writing then that's when we remember.
So it's a great way to explore your mind.
Now you don't have to do journaling consistently or be a writer or anything fancy like that.
You can just journal when life becomes hectic but the more you do journal,
The more you do write,
Then the more you'll enjoy it and it could become a very useful tool and a habit that could create wonders in your life.
Whenever you decide to journal just have fun with it,
Just enjoy what comes.
I hope you found some of these tips useful.
