As we journey through life, we create habits which we tend to live our life by. But some of these habits may not be good for us and can lead us to over think situations and even become hard on ourselves. By creating new positive daily habits, we can experience a more relaxed and enjoyable life where we appreciate and love ourselves for who we are. As we journey through life,

We create habits which we tend to live our life by.

But some of these habits may not be good for us and can lead us to overthink situations and even become hard on ourselves.

By creating positive small daily habits,

We can experience a more relaxed and enjoyable life where we appreciate and love ourselves for who we are.

Hello,

My name is Jacqueline and welcome to my Tranquil Spirits podcast.

Most of the things we do have become habits because of beliefs we have picked up on our journey through life.

But when these habits keep us from enjoying life or hold us back from living our best life,

We have to do something about them.

By creating a new simple daily habit which will lift our life and make us feel so much better,

We can then see the habits which no longer are beneficial to our happiness and we are more likely to change them.

Here are some suggestions and ideas which have and are working for me.

I begin my day with one or two tasks I want to achieve.

By completing tasks first thing in the morning,

It motivates and inspires me to do and achieve more as the day goes by.

Sitting around thinking about things is not inspiring or motivating to accomplish anything.

It just leads to procrastination which leads to frustration,

A negative emotion.

So by doing even small tasks I start each day strong,

A habit which I know creates a day filled with positivity.

Become best friends with water.

I always start my day with a glass of water.

Our body needs hydrating after the long night and then throughout the day I continue drinking water while still enjoying cups of tea or coffee.

If water doesn't inspire you,

Add fruit to it such as lemon,

Berries and even cucumber and mint makes water a nice refreshing drink.

To get you in the habit of drinking water,

Connect it to something you already do,

Such as drink a glass of water before you eat your meals or drink some water while you are waiting for the kettle to boil.

Carrying a water bottle with you is another great way to get into the habit.

You could even set hourly reminders on your phone.

Try it for a week,

You will feel so much better and your gut and brain will thank you.

I walk every day.

Walking is the easiest exercise we can do daily and it costs nothing.

By adding in a bit of power walking it makes our body feel good and believe it or not it improves our mental health too.

Since making walking one of my daily habits,

I have felt more motivated and have had some of my best ideas as there is nothing to distract my thoughts when I am outside in the fresh air.

I choose not to listen or read the news.

I certainly don't miss anything of importance,

But by making this a habit I save my mind from absorbing negativity.

But I also understand the need some people have to hear the news daily.

If this applies to you,

Make a habit of only listening to the news once a day,

Preferably in the morning rather than before you go to bed.

Going to bed with negative thoughts running through your mind is probably not the best thing for a good relaxing night's sleep.

Try it for a week,

Choose which news you will listen to and stick with it.

By continually hearing negative stories your day will attract more and more negativity and your mind will expect only negative news.

We have thousands of thoughts throughout the day and as much as we believe we can,

We don't remember them all.

I know that I have forgotten many great ideas all because I didn't write them down as I thought I would remember them.

Keep life simple and when you have an idea make a note of it until you can work with it.

This has certainly taken away a lot of frustration for me and a great daily habit I will not change.

I enjoy hobbies.

Now I know this isn't for everyone,

But finding a new hobby that I can do a little of daily really helps to feed my brain as I learn to do the new activity.

I love learning new crafts,

But I also enjoy reading and doing puzzles.

Hobbies don't have to be expensive or complicated,

They can be as simple as you like.

But by having a hobby we can dip in and out of for a few minutes or an hour each day.

This important habit really helps stimulate our brain cells.

One daily habit I have found very beneficial in my life is taking time for self-care.

For me that looks like reading a book,

Meditating,

Having a manicure or pedicure,

Taking a relaxing bath,

Anything which allows me to focus on me.

This gives me mental relaxation and makes me feel loved and deserving.

When I feel good about myself I know I am better around and with other people.

You are the most important person in your life,

So take care of yourself and create a daily self-care habit.

Block time off on your calendar and make this a no compromise part of your day.

And the last thing I want to share with you is create a habit where you finish your day on purpose.

By this I mean having a nightly routine where your body and mind know it is time to prepare to switch off.

By having a nightly routine I have found I feel more relaxed and sleep so much better each night.

By taking my time with my nightly routine all the stresses I may have leave me and before I go to sleep by reflecting over my day and counting my blessings for all the things I am grateful for,

This helps my mind calm and feel good.

I believe by creating a positive end of day habit I also wake up the next morning feeling in a great mood.

There are no doubt many more small daily habits you can bring into your life but I hope these which I have mentioned inspire you to maybe change some of the daily habits you already have which are no longer lifting your life and create some new ones which will be more fulfilling.

Remember habits are not set in stone.

They all started with a thought,

An action or words others have spoken which we believed.

We then kept doing them or believing them and they became the habits we have today.

But our thoughts change,

Our beliefs change,

The way we do things change and in turn our habits can change.
