Today we continue with the transmission looking a little bit more deeply into how the brain functions and how to utilize certain aspects of meditational wisdom and also just the wisdom that we all know deep inside of ourselves,
The wisdom that's inherent in every human being,
How to utilize these wisdoms so that the body and the brain work together with your meditation,
So assist your meditation so that it goes deeper.
And one thing that is very,
Very useful to remember is that the brain is very much more than a physical organ,
So it's very different from the muscles in your arms or very different from the organs in your body.
Its energy requirement or consumption is much higher than any other part of your body,
But also the brain works in such a way that it helps you to create a coherence within the mind and how your mind is thinking and how your mind is perceiving situations around you to create such a coherence that you feel good or you feel connected to the experience that you're having.
So the brain is a very core and fundamental aspect of spiritual practice because if you're not looking after your body and especially if you're not looking after your brain,
Then your meditation tends to get depleted because it's not strengthened by the wisdom of how to come back into a state of equilibrium and balance.
And one of the things that we do wrong,
And it's perhaps more out of ignorance than out of wisdom,
One of the things that we do wrong is sleep too little.
And the brain requires sleep to detoxify and requires sleep to regenerate and requires sleep just to allow for the energy flow that is your thinking and your feeling to come back to a state of coherence.
And if you lack in sleep,
Then you will lack in this coherence and in your meditation.
Your meditation won't be as powerful.
Your meditation won't allow you this deep inner connection because your brain is just not functioning in the way that it's designed to.
So sleep is one of the simplest things that we know.
Deep inside this wisdom is not a secret.
Your body knows when you're tired and is telling you that you're tired.
Even if you get yourself busy with gadgets or all sorts of exciting stimulating activities or situations,
Your brain will still be tired even if the stimulation allows you to stay up longer and miss out on sleep for longer than you should.
So sleep is a wisdom that your body is communicating to you all the time.
Sometimes we forget this communication because we've come into a state of being or a habitual experience that means that we just ignore the signals that our body is transmitting as very,
Very important in that moment.
And if we ignore the signal for long enough,
The brain will adapt to the situation and sleep less.
So it's very important to work with your body and recognize what amount of sleep is needed and for how long you need to sleep and when you need to sleep so that you're in touch with your biorhythms so that the sleep is deep and restful rather than just many hours.
It's important that you have quality sleep.
So this is one of the very,
Very important aspects of meditation.
I remember in the monastery because there was so little time to sleep,
Just a few hours every day,
Two,
Three hours every day,
I used to be very,
Very,
Very tired and some of my friends and family members some of my meditations just were more like sleep or just catching up on sleep rather than deep meditational experience.
So no matter what you're doing,
Even if you're meditating,
Some people say that meditation means you require less sleep.
You don't really require less sleep.
Meditation creates a coherence within you so that you can hear your body speak.
When your body says it's tired then you can hear the message much more clearly and because of this you do listen to the message.
So that's the coherence.
It's not that you need less sleep.
The body constantly needs sleep,
Especially if you are wanting to move into a state of meditation that brings you back closer to the subtle language that is wisdom.
It's very difficult to hear this language if you don't treat your body in a nurturing and loving and kind way.
So sleep is one of those things and we can work with this much more in depth later but it's just something to highlight in case you have forgotten to allow this wonderful free experience of sleeping to be part of your everyday life,
Monday to Sunday.
It doesn't mean Friday,
Saturday night is different.
Every day when you get into a biorhythm,
Every day needs to be similar.
So whenever you go to sleep it's important that that is the time that is for sleep,
No matter what day of the week it is or what day of the weekend it is.
So knowing this there are a few things that influence the brain so that thinking becomes not very focused or so that there is this foggy cloudy experience that the brain is having,
What is known as brain fog,
Whereby the brain is not really able to focus clearly upon anything and it's not able to stay with anything long enough so that there is a completion.
It creates procrastination and it creates a lack of motivation in what you're doing when the brain is not functioning 100 percent and of course the brain can only function 100 percent when you are nurturing your brain in that way where your brain is not depleted because of what you eat or what you consume or what you don't consume.
And so one of the things that you can put into practice and it's very easy is to remember that sugar is not what helps the brain to function even though of course a little bit of glucose will boost the brain's thinking for that quick moment.
But in the long run the brain needs to be nurtured in a very different way than eating sugar and sugar is one of those terrible things that we have all around us.
Children eat so much,
Eat so many things with sugar today that it's incredible.
The average child today is just consuming sugar in a way that was never possible before and this means not only for children but for parents and for people who are emotionally stressed or feeling anxious.
Sugar becomes a habitual sort of reach out for the perhaps I'll feel better if I eat my cake type scenario or eat my chocolate or eat my sweetie or whatever it is.
Sugar is one of those incredibly negative nutrients that bring the energy of the brain down so you're not able to focus.
It's actually a way to keep your body in a state of repression.
So I know this sounds very harsh and most people will say that sugar is just a natural part of having a wonderful time celebrating a birthday or celebrating a Christmas event or whatever it is that one celebrates but sugar is not made for optimal coherent brain functioning.
So if you are serious about your meditation then you need to look into the way that you're eating and especially how much sugar you're including in your food.
And this includes and many people in the more organic healthy field of thinking think okay I'll eat other types of healthy sugars.
This includes all sugars agave syrup fructose which are much worse than normal sugar but also other other sugars that people consume that feel then that makes them feel less guilty because it's believed to be healthy.
Rice syrup and different sweeteners concentrates of fruit a lot of fruit even fruit has too much sugar and eating too many ripe tropical fruits is one way to overdose in sugar that even though it's natural it still creates the same reaction in your brain.
All sorts of things that people eat today whether it be organic or so-called healthy still creates the same thing.
All sugars are equal.
There is no one sugar that is healthy and it may be healthier to eat a little bit of coconut sugar but it's still a sugar and it will still brain the function of your brain the functions of your brain to such a degree if you especially if you eat a lot of it that you will not be able to create the state of coherence that meditation allows you to explore because the brain will be functioning in a way that it's not built to function it's not built to function in this way.
So these are just two things that I wanted to share with you because sometimes we forget meditation becomes a mental exercise forgetting that the body is very important in nurturing this space that is the meditational experience and in case you are working through these aspects or trying to work through these aspects there are certain herbs that work very well to strengthen and create a coherence in the brain and certain foods that work very well that also create the same sort of sense of well-being so that the brain is able to focus and think in a very clear way but also so that it's able to focus upon the mantra and the meditation in a very clear way because that's almost the same the brain requires the energy to remain present to whether it be your thinking or to the mantra.
So one of the things that I always recommend make sure that your omega three is up to the max that up to the max needed to keep your brain functioning in such a way that you feel vibrant and you feel enlivened.
Most people especially when vegetarian eating a lot of vegetarian food because that usually means that you're eating a lot of grain and have too much of the omega-6 and an imbalance in the ratio that allows for the brain to function in a coherent way and omega-3 is the oil that the brain needs and omega-3 is found in many many interesting foods hemp seeds,
Linseeds what is known as flax seeds in America and various foods and you can just google this and you'll see but one of the most powerful ways to get omega-3 into the body is flax seed or linseed which is a very good thing to utilize but fresh making sure that it's fresh so omega-3 is one of those things and the other that I truly enjoy using but ask your doctor before you use it is what is known as ginkgo biloba and ginkgo biloba helps to helps the cognitive skills of your body and helps to bring about a more powerful and more interesting memory so you remember things and you're able to focus your attention in a way that allows you to work with the brain in a way that is incredible so just be aware that taking too much of the ginkgo biloba can increase your risk of heart problems or bleeding so it's always important to make sure that you're not taking other medication and that you just take very little this is where most people go wrong it's important to not overdose with herbal remedies because there are medicines the other medicine that I natural medicine that I truly love is what is known as goto cola which is an ancient traditional medicine and used in different parts of the world and this helps to reduce anxiety and this is what happens when the brain is not functioning in in an optimum way the brain creates a state of anxiety and tension that is a signal from your body to remember that something is not functioning 100% and when you use goto cola this helps to cola this helps to diminish the feeling of anxiety but still it's important to understand where the anxiety is coming from so it's just so that you're not overwhelmed by the anxiety or the tension goto cola can be very useful and the last of these herbs that I really love is siberian ginseng and most people say ginseng is very good I don't use ginseng because I'm never sure of the quality of normal ginseng which is very different it's a different plant than the siberian ginseng so if you do want to use ginseng make sure that you buy the korean variety the south korean variety which is very powerful rather than the cheap chinese variety which isn't cheap because it's from china but more because it's usually not pure ginseng and one doesn't know exactly where it has been grown but in korea they tend to have a very stringent protocol as to how to repair and where to get these plants from and how to support the ecosystem rather than deplete the ecosystem but siberian ginseng is the one that I love using and this is one of my totally most favorable most favorite of the herbal remedies because siberian ginseng works on many many levels not many studies but I know from my own experience works on many many levels and here this plant is known as a adaptogen which means that you can take a little bit more a little bit more than the other two but again start with minimal quantities and ginseng just helps you to meditate in a very focused way it gives you a boom a boost of energy so it's wonderful to include healthy food and natural natural natural remedies that you know and have been and those remedies have been studied as safe and as also useful so I just wanted to speak about this just because I know as we as the planetary constellations change and our bodies come under a little bit more stress than normal and now we're going through a very specific transformation planetary wise and energetically speaking a very specific change that is adding a little bit more tension or stress adding that onto the physical structure of your body into onto around the very physical structure of your body so it's important to recognize that when this when the body is being nurtured then you can strengthen your inner inner perceptions as to what and why things are happening so that you can navigate through these transformational times in a way that doesn't create stress and in a way that doesn't create anxiety and this requires that your body is functioning in a more optimum optimal way and one of these this meditation that I want to share with you now is also strengthened by this by this wisdom just also to reply on some of the questions that have come through into the chat room and there are sugars obviously that are more healthy than others and birch sugar and stevia are one of those sugars that you can use and obviously are not sugars as such their their consistency their structure is very different so the sweet taste that you that you experience isn't because that isn't because of the sweetness there it's a trick that is played upon the mind that pretends to be and this is a pretend type sugar but I still don't use a lot of birch sugar and which is also known as xylitol I think and that that is because it's an alcohol type sugar which means that for some people that can create if you eat too much of it especially can create a problem in the colon system and because I'm very concerned with the microbiome in in the gut system and I'm extra careful it doesn't mean that birch sugar damages the microbiome but one has to be careful of alcohol sugars like erythritol and all the other ones and but they are definitely definitely 100 much better for you than say the normal sugars so you know it's it's a matter of developing a taste for bitter foods because bitter I'm now speaking about something I don't want to spend too much time speaking about but bitter foods are actually healthy foods sugar is a bit of a trick that the mind creates when things are out of balance so when you are totally totally okay then your sense of taste changes and the addiction to sweetness changes but I still use stevia very little stevia once in a while because sometimes it's it's useful to use sugars and of course some people use honeys and if you are not vegan honeys have many many many other benefits than just the sweetness so of course if if the honey is organic raw and and from happy bees rather than created from mass industry which creates a lot of suffering for the bees then it's then it's like other foods in in minimal quantities it's it's okay but the point that I wanted to sort of highlight is that the brain is affected by not just what you think but rather by many many other factors the external factors being the food that you eat and the situation that you place yourself within the stress the anxiety and also the planetary constellations that surround us the brain is like an antenna picking up on all those little things that are going on around us that the mind doesn't understand but our body is receptive to and like an antenna picks up these situations and translates them into a language that can turn into stress or can turn into anxiety if the body is not in a state of coherence and then that is that highlights the stress that you're already feeling inside of yourself because of thinking of a problem and then both the stresses create a sense of overwhelm which then creates brain fog and creates a lack of motivation or creates and procrastination or creates just the sense that you're lost and you can't really find things you can't find the meaning in things and you can't connect to the world in that way that is vibrant and alive so this meditation that I wanted to share with you is all about opening up to this information that is around us within the universe and we open up on many levels we open up through our feelings and we open up through our thoughts but we also open up physically to the information that is around us through the crown chakra through the top of the head that part of the head that's known as the crown chakra and that part of the head that's known as the fontanelle and the fontanelle is the part of the body that is very in touch with the movements and the the vibrations and the constellations that are within the space that we exist in within this dimension of space that we exist in this dimension here and this dimension is constantly in touch with our bodies but especially with the subtle body or the energetic body that is mostly most easily experienced through the top of the head so now as you relax your body as you close your eyes and just breathe in and breathe out making sure your body is upright and you're letting go of just the thoughts and the feelings that may distract you from coming back here to this present moment as you connect to the flow of breath and to the energy of the body be sure to focus and you can focus with the eyes so you're looking slightly upwards not too much but slightly upwards towards the sky and opening yourself up towards the space above you so it's almost as if you're opening your body you're creating this intention this clarity within your mind that you're opening your body to the energy that's coming down from the universe coming down onto your body and especially touching this part of your body the fontanelle crown chakra and you're just sensing this energy perhaps visualizing this energy like beautiful gentle raindrops slowly coming down covering the top of your head and then moving down towards all other parts of your body deep breath it's wonderful as you let this energy move down into you you may notice that this energy is very still because the frequency of this energy is beyond the vibration of hearing noise it's a very subtle vibration that's very still as you breathe in and breathe out this wonderful these wonderful drops of energy that flow down down into your body you may notice that there is not just a stillness but a physical experience of stillness so your brain relaxes physically it's almost as if these drops of light that are coming down from the universe that are coming down from the space above you relax this part of your body the brain especially around the neck and around the jaws and around the eyes relaxing as you breathe in and breathe out relaxing in such a way that the energy of your brain now comes back to a deeper state of presence this stillness allows you to come back here to this beautiful present moment and you're still not rushing to look at that thought or rushing to investigate that feeling you're just present as you breathe in and breathe out and open up to this beautiful state of presence and as the fontanelle comes back to the presence and as the fontanelle area the crown chakra opens up to this beautiful energy that the universe is transmitting through your body listen to this space that is stillness open up to the space that is stillness letting go breathing in and breathing out and what you're doing is just reconnecting to the universe you're reconnecting to the nurture that the universe creates you're creating a space where you're open and receptive to the flow of creative energy that the universe is now transmitting through your crown chakra through the fontanelle into your body you're just being nurtured in the same way as when you're breathing deeply breathing fresh air deeply your body recognizes this nurture and so relaxes more deeply and embraces this nurture from a very profound deep level every cell the mitochondria within every cell just becomes more vibrant because of this nurture this connection this reconnecting to this beautiful space that we all come from the universe opens up and nurtures every person every individual in a beautiful way and as we open up in this way breathing in breathing out let go let go of the tension let go of those feelings that move you away from this present moment just bringing state of gratitude into the meditation just feeling gratitude for being part of this incredible symbiosis of life that is creation and the just bringing state of gratitude into the meditation just feeling gratitude for being part of this incredible symbiosis of life that is creation just feeling gratitude experiencing gratitude because of nothing other than being present to this incredible experience that your body now recognizes that your brain recognizes so your brain is no longer limited in its functioning capacity in how it processes information now it's connected to all aspects that begin to support you so that your thinking your feeling your your experience is one of transcendence so you're transcending the limitations and reaching out towards your potential rather than holding back fearing sensing the anxious stress that so many of us now as this transformation speeds up our life and our life is changing towards your potential rather than holding back fearing sensing the anxious stress that so many of us now as this transformation speeds up begin to experience on some level you can let this go deep breath and you may wish to continue in meditation for a few more moments breathing in breathing out connecting to this beautiful stillness within and as you breathe in and breathe out and let go remember to embrace the state of gratitude within your experience and as you come towards the end of the meditation just make sure that you ground yourself connect to your feet connect to the earth and drink a little bit of water just to stay hydrated so that the body is connected and grounded but also vibrant because of being hydrated deep breath letting go thank you you you

Very useful tips about food, sleep, crown chakra. In particular since I have recently experienced a pancreas breakdown I was very sensible about the no sugar suggestion.
