You you you you Today there are lots of practical things one needs to sort of be aware of and the practical things are part of spiritual practice very often in the beginning at least I was under the impression that meditation is a separate aspect of spiritual work meditation was seen as something that you do if you have time or if if you manage to push aside some practical tasks and sit down for 23 minutes or 30 minutes to sit and meditate meditation was seen as something you did besides all the other things that needs one's attention but as you actually give attention to practical aspects of life you realize that those practical aspects that are coming up to the surface and that manifest themselves around you and become part of your life are very much reminders of what is going on inside especially your attitude the way that you sort of receive and understand and relate and communicate to spiritual practice spiritual practice is nothing more than just your attitude towards life how conscious you can be in relationship to all the things that are manifesting around you so consciousness has nothing to do with time or space consciousness has to do with the ability to be clear and so very focused that nothing gets in the way,

Nothing in your attitude compromises your presence to the situation so if there is a negative thought or if there is a negative attitude or a constricted sort of limited type of behavior or reactive or aggressive or any sort of behavior that pulls you away from such focus from such an attitude then that in itself is not negative because it could be just a wonderful reminder that there is more work to do rather than be part of what for most people becomes another burden or another heavy luggage that needs to be carried from one place to another needs to be somehow worked through if we drop all these perspectives that sometimes create stress and anxiety then our attitude begins to shine with the brightness of consciousness and this is one of the practicals that I was speaking about many probably thought I was speaking about the practicals just,

I don't know,

Cleaning the kitchen sink or making sure that the plants are watered or making sure that the dishes have been put away I'm speaking more about the practicality of how you interact with your attitude so the practicality of how,

For example you recognize what is priority and what is not priority this is a good way to understand if the luggage that you are carrying the heavy burdens that you need to sort of struggle with are really worth all your focus maybe it's worth a little bit of your perception maybe it's worth a little bit of mind activity but is it worth the heaviness and burden that very often these aspects of life create within oneself and also in the manifestation that happens around oneself so an attitude is part of the practicals that I would advise everyone is you sit in meditation to be clear about because if the space that you are creating within your focus is fed or built upon the foundation where there is reactivity or there is some sort of agitation or activity that is creating disharmony within oneself or within one's manifestation of life then that foundation can create a whole destabilizing effect that becomes clear with time destabilizing effect that becomes obvious because once the foundation isn't really that solid then everything that you build on top of that foundation is as wobbly as the foundation so prioritizing one's practical tasks simply means that you are placing things in a way where time and space allows for consciousness to be the reference of what you are doing rather than that the struggle that comes from stress or anxiety that happens when you are rushing,

Pushing,

Struggling creating stress and anxiety within yourself to get whatever practicals done so really priorities are very simple because there is on a practical level a certain amount of time,

24 hours we have agreed upon in the way that we calculate time,

24 hours there is 24 hours of moments where you can really allow for your focus really allow for your attention to be part of what is going on rather than be caught in the wobbly foundation that then creates this typical aspect of spiritual work procrastination where we wait because things are just not good enough as they are and we wait and hope that things will change then that's when we hope that we will perhaps change our attitude within ourselves so procrastination is part of not sorting the priorities within this experience that you are having right now within this attitude that you are forming as you have the experience right now so if for example if you are sitting in meditation and one little practicality comes up and you think oh I forgot to do that and that's really important or one little thought comes up and brings up another thought and then that brings up another thought and these thoughts are all to do with all the things that you haven't done or that you need to do or that needs your attention or that needs just some sort of thought activity so that you can sort them out or understand them better when such is happening in meditation it's very simple to have a list of things that you can create within what I call your mind palace this is a beautiful little space and it's a palace,

It's not a tiny little cottage it's a palace so there are many interesting spaces and you can discover those spaces within your meditation by remembering that you can only visit one space at a time you can't be in the sitting room and the bedroom and the library all at the same time the mind has the ability to go from one place to another but to experience the place in its fullness means that you have to actually be grounded and look around and say okay I am now in the library so for example you remember that there are some very important aspects of information that you read or perhaps you looked at your Facebook people do this nowadays look at their Facebook or Twitter accounts or Snapchat that's what is popular at the moment whatever that means or whatever information and you think oh that's a really important piece of information I'll have to remember that and that begins to stress you because you know that in the next minute you might forget it so your whole focus is always trying to remember this piece of information that comes up say you know some amazing invention or some amazing way of doing something that will help you to sort out your life in a better way why not write that information down remember you're a superhuman now so you don't need to sort of write very slowly it's almost as if when you think it it gets printed on the page so you can imagine an empty page in this beautiful library that is in this mind palace of yours there is this book and it's empty of writing and it's a book where you can write your own story you can write your own sort of information that creates this amazing story that this book is there just for you to enjoy and so you can imagine yourself going to this book first I suppose you have to imagine that you're if you're not in the library that you're leaving whatever activity that you've been caught in if you're cleaning up the dishes in the kitchen or if you're sorting out the mess in the bedroom drop that for a little while and walk towards this library in the palace and then walk towards the shelf where this book is it's very important that the shelf is located on the left hand side of how you enter the room not the right but the left so if you enter through the palace sort of grand doors that allow you to entry into the library you just enter and usually the windows are large and beautiful allowing for sunlight to brighten up the room because the library to read you need lots of light so imagine these things as you walk into the library this beautiful light,

Natural light just shining everywhere and you look towards your left so your attention moves towards the left hemisphere of your brain and as you move towards the left there is this book in this beautiful cover embroidered in sort of golden letters and beautiful just it's something that has value and you pull that out of the shelf you recognize this book and you open the page and it's blank and you beam the page with your third eye you beam the page with this wonderful information that will remain in this book for whenever you need to go back and read this information and as soon as you've done this make sure that you close the pages of the book and the book is nice nicely ready to be put onto the shelf again the shelf that is full of many other books but this one is especially beautiful so you always remember how to get there you always remember that this is the place where the information that you've written into this book remains so as you do this put the book back perhaps you want to just look out through the look out of the window and look at the beautiful scenery around and then there's no need to spend too much time looking out of the window then you walk back through the door the opening you open the door so that you walk through towards the other aspects of the palace as soon as you do this what you're doing is prioritizing this is the creative aspect of the mind that helps to prioritize information so that there is no need to keep stuck to keep being caught by the repetition of the mind analyzing that information on a certain level because now you want to move to a deeper level of consciousness so beyond just information and recognizing information as you relax and explore the palace there is no need to look for anything it's your home,

It's your own mind so all you need to do is feel comfortable in this space and when you're comfortable in the space then you know where to go there is no need to create a thought about I need to go and do this or do that all of a sudden the subtle information that comes up usually has a sensation,

Intuitive sensation usually has a heartfelt information,

Communication that makes some sort of sense and that information,

That communication allows you to move towards an aspect of yourself and recognize that aspect of yourself in a new way so you're not just repeating perceptions about yourself so you're not just repeating the perceptions perhaps that you're used to thinking about yourself in a certain way or thinking about yourself in ways that people think about you but you begin to explore a depth of communication that perhaps is beyond just the mundane thinking beyond just the everyday practicalities of life so you begin to replicate this organizational method of understanding how to place things within the space so that they're not interfering with the perspective that allows you an expanded and more open perspective to actually sorting out things in a way where they help your attitude to remain positive and to remain active in the communication that happens rather than get caught by a repetitive mode of thinking or a repetitive negative mode of thinking or feeling so this is what it means to sort out your priorities see,

Every moment you have a choice you have a choice to fall back into that negative thought and to follow its thread follow its reactive sort of communication that naturally happens when you focus on the negative thought and of course you will focus on the negative thought because the mind is structured that way there is a negative bias where a negative thought has a stronger impact upon the space than a positive thought so if you do nothing then it's more it's guaranteed that you will just simply be thinking negative thoughts this is called procrastination doing nothing means that you will be caught by the mind that imprisons the space into this sort of limited belief system limited experience of life but with activity,

Just as I've explained to you with prioritizing through the creative imaginative mind prioritizing how you touch communication and how you interact and how you are receptive to communication then because of the intentional aspect of your meditation then the positive,

The natural positive that is within the infinite space that you're exploring the mind palace is just the infinite space of your mind but once you begin to explore the mind in this way you can begin to explore the universe in this way then you tend to incline the mind to think in a more positive way and when you feel positive and when you feel free in this way it is so much easier to just go with the flow because you feel your experience is that of happiness that of things are just as they should be,

Perfect then you're not struggling,

You're not using your life energy to struggle with those aspects that create suffering for most people such as negative thinking or negative feelings coming as a consequence of negative thinking and egoic ways of interacting with the world because the ego then sort of manifests within that space of negativity to try to rescue the situation,

To try to transform the situation so the ego in itself is not bad but because its foundation is negative thoughts then it imprisons one's mind to believing that reality is as limited as the perceptions that are being allowed to flow through one's mind so as you breathe in and breathe out,

Embrace your freedom right now embrace your freedom on a physical level breathing in,

Sensing what it's like to breathe in to the diaphragm to breathe down deep into the body,

To relax the chest to make sure your posture is upright,

To make sure that you're not scrunching you're open and joyful that you're allowing this experience of life this gift of being here in this moment to happen without the inner saboteur playing the usual game you know that that is just an aspect of experience and your priorities now are to come back to heartfelt recognitions of what it means to be present to the space in its fullness to open your perspective so that your heartfelt recognitions of space allow you to move into the space rather than into the negative mind frame that lacks the space of potential,

That lacks the space of the possibilities open to you once you are free in this way so as you free your breath,

As you breathe in and breathe out in a way that is not limited by your negative thoughts then you begin to explore meditation in a way that is beautiful allows for beautiful experiences in a way that makes total sense not only to your mind but to your perception of experience because the sense that comes from this perception is that you are here now and here now all is perfect,

There is no need to change anything because you are beginning to explore your freedom deep breath allowing for stillness,

Allowing for sense of quietness deep breath as you explore the space of freedom sensing the vibration of the Who mantra in the background sensing the subtle vibration of space,

Who in the background conscious correction and also Copyright © 2017 Mooji Media Ltd.

Came upon this a bit by accident, but has become my favorite guided meditation. Calming, insightful, and gentle speech. The relatively brief visualization does not take away from the strengths of this meditation. Grateful to have found this.

Really, really interesting perspective. Thought-provoking way of looking at a common challenge: deciding how much time, energy and distraction things that grab your attention or perhaps hijack you are worth. I particularly liked the "book" technique but don't want to be a spoiler. Definitely worth at least one listen. Thanks so much; love your work and appreciate the thoughtfulness it takes to so clearly articulate.
