Another wonderful day,

Wonderful day,

Every day is a wonderful day,

But today is a wonderful day to remember that the physical body is part of spiritual practice.

Very often we forget the physical body in the spiritual practice simply because the more intense aspects of thinking or feeling take priority when it comes to just experiencing simple things as eating well,

Making sure that the stress,

The physical stress that the body is experiencing is let go of,

Just making sure that the physical body is nurtured and relaxed and happy.

All these aspects are sometimes very difficult to remember when there are so many things happening in life that create forgetfulness about the body.

So today I wanted to share with you a meditation that just brings awareness back to the body because that's part of the problem.

Part of the problem is that we just are out of touch with the information that the body is transmitting.

The body is communicating to us and because we are out of touch with such information we just neglect the body.

It's not that we are thinking consciously,

Oh the body is not important,

I haven't got time to listen to the body,

We just forget that the signals that are constantly being transmitted are important.

And I spoke of this previously being in touch with the intuitive aspect or the gut feeling aspect of information is very,

Very important.

But if we are too busy,

If there is too much stress and there is too much anxiety within our culture or within the way that we connect to our physical dimension,

Then that stress and anxiety blocks the information.

So we are not in touch with our intuition,

Blocks the information that the body is communicating.

And the body is so much more than just physically feeling well.

The body is more than feeling good because you've eaten enough or feeling good because you've slept enough.

The body contains within it a very specific physical realm that connects you to the spiritual realm.

So this physical realm is manifest within the energy of the body and this connects you to the spiritual realm.

And if this physical realm is not connected to and understood through gut feeling or intuition,

If this physical realm is blocked or constricted because the physical body is not connected to in this sort of blissful,

Enjoyable way that one can experience the communication of the body,

Letting go of stress,

Then becomes a blissful experience.

Letting go of tension becomes a blissful experience because when you are tense and when you are stressed,

You understand that coming back to the natural state of equilibrium is a very joyful and pleasant and beautiful experience.

So letting go of the constrictions and limitations that we impose upon our bodies and prevent our bodies then from communicating to us is very much part of the spiritual practice.

Some people believe that the body is unimportant,

But of course the body is part of the spiritual practice because this energy that is within the physical manifestation is our connection to the spiritual realm.

This is how we understand spirituality.

We understand spirituality because we are in touch with aspects of ourselves that we call senses,

That we call thoughts,

And these experiences are manifest out of the physical.

So even though they contain within them an energy that goes far beyond the physical,

The energy of consciousness,

The energy of excitement,

The energy of love,

The energy of being present goes far beyond the physical structure of the body and is definitely not limited by the physical structure of the body.

It is only understood when the body relaxes enough and lets go of tension and lets go of constrictions enough to be able to make sense of the communication that is happening in the physical realm of our manifestation.

So I'm not saying that one needs to focus on food or one needs to focus on sleep as the way to connect to spirituality,

But of course these are important aspects,

Very important aspects if those physical needs are not met then they are very important,

But once you meet them on a very basic level then getting back in touch with the physical body is much more than just satisfying one's needs or one's desires that the body very often then presents as important.

It's not enough to just eat or sleep one needs and desires more,

More physical satisfactions such as if you look at history you see the Romans were a great example of this,

They would look at all physical pleasures and somehow push themselves to experience those physical pleasures in a way that didn't make sense because the pleasures have nothing to do with the physical in the end they have to do with just fulfilling the basic requirements and then moving beyond the physical to the energy realm that is connected to the physical.

This means that you have to let go of those desires and let go of those needs so as to come back to the essential quality that the physical structure of the body is wanting to remember or wanting to manifest within the experience of living.

So beyond satisfying the basic needs there is an energy within those basic needs that comes to a point within oneself that communicates this needs to go beyond just the physical realm.

It's an intuitive energetic level of communication that happens when there isn't stress or when there isn't anxiety or when there isn't starvation or a threat to your basic needs all those things that sometimes have to be addressed when things are difficult when all those aspects are no longer there in the background then the energy of the body begins to communicate the spiritual realm directly to your intuitive subtle senses to the gut feeling within and then you begin to mature on some level you understand okay we are much more complex than the ego mind will have us believe and the ego matures so we become well rounded we become healthy so everything is put into perspective we don't like the Romans get so connected to our needs and desires that we forget our values and our visions and deeper feelings and the purpose behind all those physical needs and desires gets lost in the egoic realm of wanting of needing of desiring and fulfilling those needs as to find happiness that is really what the ego wants but of course we'll never find it through just going back to the needs of the physical body without recognizing that the energy that is within the physical body helps us to connect to a spiritual realm when the ego the ego mind is more mature is more is more healthy see a mature ego is not only wise but it's grounded and confident and tends to have the wisdom and the power to self actualize the experience so if we are seeking we're searching seeking happiness then we are mature enough to know where that happiness can be found rather than getting lost like the Romans in just materialism and physicality we understand that there is an energy body that energy that surrounds the physical body some people call this the aura which expands and contracts depending on how you connect to your ego so if your ego contracts because and limits itself to a negative belief system system happiness only can only be experienced through fulfilling one's needs and then your needs become your vision or become the driving force or become that contracted state of ego where you're just focused on certain aspects of life then of course you can't expand and allow for the energy to move beyond those limited perspectives and recognize that actualization the actualization of the self goes beyond just a little that keeps repeating itself in the mind so if the mind says I need this to be happy I need that to be happy and that is the noise that the mind is creating and the ego can't listen to anything but that noise can't listen to the wisdom that's within then you don't have a mature ego and that of course needs to be addressed and meditation is a wonderful way to address this but recognizing that you don't have a mature ego is also part of human development part of self actualization recognizing and being critical of those aspects of yourself that prevent you from being well rounded and mature in your perspective of life means that you begin to say to yourself oh perhaps those physical material needs that my mind is so fascinated with those physical desires and needs whether they be immature for example some people constantly think of satisfying themselves with food constantly without even knowing eat they eat not because they're hungry or because it's they're going to die if they don't eat but they eat because they're sad or they eat because they're stressed or they eat because they're just eating because that's what they do because there is an emptiness and they eat without even recognizing this because of course you know you know when you are starving and when you are there isn't enough food to satisfy your actual needs but your body when eating out of habit doesn't know that it's eating out of habit because that's not a conscious act it's something that just happens and the same with all sorts of things that we do with materialism with sex today it has become so much part of just a need desire that has nothing to do with the spiritual realm that connects us to the actual experience rather than turning the experience into something that doesn't actually bring us satisfaction it doesn't bring satisfaction to the spiritual realm or help us to mature in any way to constantly eat or to constantly get lost in certain aspects of materialism but this is what our culture encourages most of us to do and if we don't have a mature ego if we don't have the wisdom to see through that perspective to understand that perspective and to understand that that perspective doesn't help us to ground and it doesn't help us to to connect to self-actualization then we can more easily get lost and that is when we don't listen to our intuition we don't listen to the subtle senses that help the energy to flow beyond the limiting factors that our culture sometimes focuses so strongly upon that we don't even believe anymore that there is something beyond that which we are thinking so reality becomes what we think and if we think in a negative perspective that is reality and if we think in a positive perspective say you know you win the lottery and you're positive for a day or a month or whatever then we think from that positive perspective but of course lose connection with the truth that is within reality because reality is not the social persona that we are experiencing or even our limited egoic persona that we're experiencing we have to expand beyond such identity and not be preoccupied by the stress or the anxiety but move to a space where we know ourselves better that is what self-actualization means we understand the ego so we watch what's going on we watch the situation that is what meditation means mindfulness is about watching the ego from the perspective of detachment so we're still feeding the body we're still looking after our basic needs but we're not getting lost in the repetitive thinking that those aspects of life of experience represent everything we mature beyond such and we develop we develop our understanding through the senses but we also develop our understanding through intuition and through our gut feeling what is it that speaks to us right now in this moment in such a powerful way that it connects to the inner light of consciousness rather than the limited perspective of perception and see if we can expand this space then we're expanding the energy of the body beyond just being caught by the materialism of thinking because thinking is a type of materialism and we can open ourselves to countless other factors that perhaps we don't perceive in the moment but we are at least opening up to that space where the energy body that surrounds the physical body can begin to expand of course it will contract back to the egoic realm because that is part of experience but at the same time there will be expansion so there'll be expansion and contraction just like the breath the breath expands and you open up to new things and then you contract and you just sort of make sense of those things within the ego mind so that you understand your mood you understand your feelings you understand what energy means your energy level and the many aspects of yourself you begin to understand because you're very focused on that but then you open up to new experiences you expand the energy body so that you are receiving and interacting with energies that go far beyond just the material ones now if we're not inspired by love and we're not inspired by the beauty of nature and not inspired by the many subtle things that require that we expand and dissolve this egoic self and expand into a state of maturity then of course we will get depressed and this is what happens to so many people you know when we get all those things that we need basically most people in the western world of course some people suffer but most people in the western world have their basic needs met they have enough food even if not healthy food but enough basic needs that we no longer have to worry about survival as unfortunately this is the case in some countries you know there is starvation there is there is suffering where basic needs are simply not met but for most people in the western world those basic needs are not only met but they become stressful because we want more of them and i see this all the time so it's it's it's not a negative but it prevents this expansion whereby we get in touch with something that's more than those basic needs and that is the beauty of energy energy can only be understood when we are connected to that which understands energy and that's not our minds we can somehow our minds can make sense of energy and can make sense of our intuition and can perhaps explain intuition on a scientific level or a philosophical level but to to understand intuition you need to experience intuition to understand your gut feeling you need to be in touch with your gut feeling so that is the language that helps you understand energy and by playing with the energy body in this way because it's a game it's a very pleasurable game you know when you begin to listen to your body and your body says ah no need to eat that and you say to yourself oh that's easy because my body says i don't really want that you know like when there is a food that you don't like your body says no no no i don't want that that's horrible i don't want to eat that if you could same say the same to to those foods that are creating addictions that sugar and carbohydrates and fats and all sorts of things that you know we eat in excess and set the the the the fats that are unhealthy if we could say no not because the mind says oh no no no we i shouldn't eat this and then feel guilty because you want it really and you want that ice cream or you want that whatever fried chips in unhealthy fat and and you want whatever and some part of you is sort of fighting yourself but you're not listening to your intuition you're listening to your mind your body is saying clearly no this is not what i want but your mind has forgotten the intuitive aspect of of communication so it's about coming back to that remembrance so it's not about making yourself feel guilty or making yourself limited in in experience so i'm not saying to say no to things but to say to yourself how can i say yes to those things that make sense those things that bring happiness how can i say yes the body will say yes i want that wonderful fruit or one wonderful vegetable because it really really is what um the body feels happy with but of course if you have an ice cream or a cake in front of you and the mind remembers oh that is such a good feeling when i eat that for a little while at least for a few seconds and it's such a good feeling it and that communication then becomes more powerful than that which is connected to the real energy of the body it's a mental energy and that is where intuition and and your gut feeling cannot be understood when when you're in the mental state of analyzing the experience of your body and trying to understand your body from the ego mind rather than from the direct communication that happens and that you know how to experience you're born with this ability it's your birthright it's not something that is mystical or difficult to achieve it's just a matter of letting go of those aspects that have prevented you from being in touch with the energy of your own body so as you breathe in and breathe out and let go of the many many needs and desires that the mind believes to be so very important and as you mature the perspective of the ego as you begin to recognize that there is more to life than just those thoughts that are creating noise in the background that stress or that anxiety that is too noisy and creates more than noise creates suffering in the background as you let that go and you come back to the spiritual realm realm that's connected to the physical body that's connected to your well-being to the state of equilibrium just stay in that space for a few moments allow yourself to connect to that space just by being still just by letting go breathing in expanding breathing out contracting breathing in connecting breathing out letting go deep breath you may wish to continue in meditation for a few more moments thank you

I began this lecture feeling extremely depressed and fidgety but I powered through those first few minutes while reassuring myself that it was ok to feel those things...but to just keep listening and most importantly breathing. Best decision I made all day.
