Before we get into the studying program.
Being human beings,
It's always so very easy to get confused.
So when you're ready,
Just finding a comfortable position,
Making sure that you're receptive and open to the transmission,
And open to just new ideas and new ways of understanding the world,
New ways of understanding reality.
So as you relax and connect to a body that's vibrant and healthy and receptive and alive to the new possibilities,
Letting go of the old and the mundane,
Heaviness of just the challenges and the thoughts that challenge our minds,
Just letting that go so that you come back to a state of peacefulness.
Being receptive to the qualities of the mind,
Very often what we're receptive to within what happens in the mind,
Which is of course thinking,
Within the awareness of our thoughts,
The thinking that is happening in the mind,
Very often what we become aware of is the agitation,
The quality of agitation that happens in the mind.
Even the mind is stimulated through certain activities such as being reactive to situations or just having very close perspectives on life,
Meaning that you have a very strong point of view,
You're not open to other possibilities.
The world is flat or the world is like that.
If you have that sort of thinking,
Creating reactivities because of course reality is much more complex than the simplicity of that thought,
Then that also causes agitation or a movement within the thinking that creates an energy stream or an energy movement around that core issue of thought that you're having in that moment that then begins to transmit a certain energy field.
The agitation transmits a certain energy field that communicates to the world a certain perspective or a certain way of seeing or thinking or feeling,
But also communicates to that which is aware within yourself,
That which is beyond that thought.
And say I am like this or I am like that,
But that which is aware of what it's saying within that moment.
That which I call awareness or consciousness that is free of the thought also becomes somehow addicted to the agitation,
Begins to sort of fall asleep,
Fall into this sort of forgetfulness,
State of forgetfulness where the I that is aware,
The I that is conscious no longer seems as conscious as before,
No longer seems as aware as before,
Falls asleep.
So of course there is a certain level of awareness,
There is a certain level of oh,
This agitation isn't really me,
This challenge isn't really me,
This depression isn't really me,
This addiction isn't really me.
I know that deep,
Deep,
Deep inside,
But I've forgotten what that deep,
Deep inside state really means.
I'm not in touch with it.
I'm not connected to this part of awareness or consciousness.
So this is what it means when agitation of the thought becomes so strong it transmits energy not only to the external world,
To the manifestation that is around you,
But also to the internal world.
This means your sense of self,
Your sense of who you are.
And so this not only leads to challenges and pain and suffering,
But of course leads to confusion.
The mind confuses itself through its agitation.
But that is okay because thoughts are impermanent.
You may be confused one moment and then you come back to the state of awareness,
Oh no,
I now remember who I am.
I am not that thought that I just had a few minutes ago.
If you have that level of awareness then of course the challenge of agitation is temporary,
The addiction is temporary,
The state of suffering that you fall into is temporary.
But very often when the mind sees itself as the center of attention,
The center of importance,
When you become self-centered basically,
Meaning that your egoic realm of thinking is that which is driving you,
Which seems to be the center of your life,
Then of course the addiction no longer is as easy as before,
Meaning that no longer do you recognize that that is just a thought.
It becomes almost a whole momentum,
A whole movement that means that one thought leads to another.
So you have one negative thought that agitates your mind and the structure of your identity and then another thought is just there waiting until that thought moves out of the way and quickly,
Quickly,
Quickly replaces the space with,
Oh you thought you were going to have a rest from the agitation,
You thought you were going to free yourself from the addiction,
I'm here now,
Says the thought.
And then the thought,
Just because of its energetic field,
Just because of the transmission that is happening,
Tends to send out signals to all the thoughts in the subconscious,
Even invisible thoughts that haven't quite manifested in this realm of physical manifestation.
They're just there,
Subtle,
Begin to be attracted to this transmission that is happening within the agitated mind.
And so thought attracts thought,
A negative thought attracts another negative thought,
A worry attracts another worry,
A stress connects to another stress.
We know this,
We know that of course if you're tired and agitated it's not a good time to make decisions.
We know that if you're tired and agitated it's not a good time to begin to decide what your life path is all about.
That first,
The first step when facing this challenge within ourselves,
The agitated mind,
The confused mind,
Is to make sure that there is enough space for something new to come into the space.
To make sure that the transmission of the agitated mind,
This sort of energy transmission that is happening through the agitated thought,
I'm this,
The world is flat,
No one understands me,
I feel like whatever,
Don't feel happy,
The world is a bad place,
Everyone is just making fun of me,
Whatever it is that is being transmitted out within the space.
The first step is to make sure that the transmission is turned off,
To make sure that the thought is just what it is,
It's just another thought that's happening.
And the only way that I've found out to turn off transmission of negative energy,
To turn off the transmission of an agitated thought,
Is not to fight,
Not to fight your own thinking,
Not to begin to create the same energy that is being created through your thinking within yourself and battle a battle that will never be won,
Simply because the mind has an endless source of thinking.
The quality of the mind is to think all the time.
If you begin to bring this sense of real,
The I that is really aware into the battle,
Awareness just doesn't function in such an agitated state,
It goes back to sleep.
So this is why it's so very important to still the mind,
This is why meditational practice is so important.
The stillness is not the battle.
Some people say I need to meditate now because my mind is so confused,
I need to meditate now because my mind is so full of agitated thoughts.
Meditation is not about a battle,
Meditation is about just being aware enough so that the process of remembrance,
This awakening of awareness happens naturally,
Without effort,
Without agitation,
Without fighting,
Without creating an energy that then stimulates the mind to be more agitated and to fight back and to say well you think you'll change what I'm doing,
Just watch how clever I can be.
Of course a monkey mind is as clever as can be.
We'll always outwit this aspect of ourselves that is more gentle,
More connected to higher consciousness.
So if we know this then we don't even prepare for battle,
We just relax and enjoy the state of being that stillness creates.
We just watch the thoughts as they come and as they go.
For some people this clearing takes a little while,
The mind is so very confused,
There are so many thoughts,
There's so many agitations and agitated aspects of the mind,
Aspects that the mind has influenced to become as agitated as itself that takes a while to clear the space so that awareness can naturally come back and recognize that consciousness,
The aware that is within you actually communicates on many levels so it's not very dependent on thinking.
Thinking is just one aspect there but there are many other transmissions happening within this beautiful moment and so if the mind recognizes this then the sense of importance that the mind gives itself isn't given to the space of spiritual practice and isn't given to the space where the aware that is behind the thought now is competing with the thought to get the center of attention simply means that awareness because of its all embracing activity that is not limited to agitation or not limited to fighting or not limited to wanting to be recognized is just being yourself now recognizes that there is no effort required in the thinking that previously agitated the mind so when you pull the energy away from the mind being your focus and you just watch it like you're watching many other things then it loses its sense of gravitational pull that allows you to fall into thinking or allows you to fall into thinking that thoughts are reality those thoughts are truly everything so you create a distance you create a sort of sense of detachment from that mode of thinking that creates confusion and the result is that the confusion is seen just for what it is you identify the thoughts and your logical brain can now begin to deduct the situation for what it truly is deduct the situation as it unfolds the mind can say oh yes I see that pattern I've thought those thoughts many times before it's not new not interesting really I don't need to fall into its gravitational pull I know that and then you can identify that thought I know that so I can let it go and I can come back to the awareness that I know and if you have that knowledge of how the mind functions because awareness or consciousness fills the space so the knowledge that happens firstly through your practice and then given time through deduction meaning that the mind catches up with the awareness that happens just simply through being sometimes it takes years for the mind to understand the experience then what we have is an integrated mind that is connected to universal intelligence so not only do you need to use your own mind to understand the world now the universal mind meaning the intelligence this present intelligence that is part of what we connect to when the mind is integrated now begins to communicate its the wisdom that's contained in this moment within the thinking mind and so the mind just naturally flips from one agitated state to a more to a state where it is more in all as knowledge begins to pour into the space here and rather than focus just on the problems we begin to recognize the many solutions that universal mind allows for awareness to connect to it is so wonderful to practice spirituality to practice meditation when your attitude is free of addiction when your attitude is free of confusion and it's so very important to begin the practice right here in this moment by making sure that when the mind is agitated or when you fall into an addictive repetitive reactive pattern of thinking that you understand that this situation that you are experiencing is just another aspect of reality it is not you and so you can just simply observe from a state of stillness from a state of calmness from a state of neutrality from a state of just knowing that thinking happens but there is a lot more happening in the background that you can now connect to as you breathe out and let go of those thoughts as you breathe in and connect to the space of awareness deep breath as you let go deep breath as you slowly come back into this wonderful state of awareness if there is a thought or two happening in the background just come back to this state of awareness where you watch and observe the thoughts as they come and go identifying them and saying that is one thought I'm now here not with that thought not with that thought that just went by I can't even remember what that thought is just coming back here remembering the space the energy of the space you come back here you may sense the body you may sense that vibration that is happening within the body you may sense that for a few moments you were just still and quiet there were there was no activity no agitation no confusion you come back and you remember oh yeah that thought let me think about it again and then you say oh no no meditation is not about falling into the thought or into its gravitational pull but it's more about just observing then you come back to a state of awareness where your spiritual empowerment is so very focused that you can observe rather than fall into the thought takes practice it's a wonderful practice there's so many thoughts happening throughout the day so many agitated thoughts or reactive thoughts that happen throughout the day so spiritual practice can happen all the time just observe just observe situations as they arise remember who are you in this moment are you that thought are you that feeling and as the state of remembrance expands so the vibration of spiritual light this sense of lightness sound of lightness begin to reveal itself on all levels begins to reveal itself as a vibration that you can hear not just in your breath but also in the way that your mind is integrating itself back home to this essential quality of awareness of consciousness this vibration maybe the sound of stillness or maybe the sound of sacred the sacred sounds that are around in nature the sacred sounds such as the sound of a beautiful stream trickling through the quality and attributes of such sounds bring immense stillness to the mind you may be listening to the wonderful sound of the wind blowing rustling through the leaves of forest trees or we may be just listening to just the natural sounds that are all around us rather than the vibration of sounds that the mind creates which leads to agitation we can come back to the essential quality of lightness that is in the vibration of sound we are allowing ourselves to come back home to this lightness to this quality of light thank you you

Although I've participated in many meditations here, yours is my first talk. I've been on the edge of the cliff with my agitation Re the state of US. But today your talk brought me back. Now I have a new perspective & method for shutting down that anxiety & confusion, a clearer way ahead. Thank you. Your talk could not have arrived at a more needed time. I will return to it when my confusion begins again and perhaps train my mind to replace it with hope Cher
