MUSIC Dear friends,
Here is your invitation to take a 20-minute break from endless activity and bring yourself to a position of complete rest.
You can use this as an aid to sleep or as a means of taking a regular 20-minute nap.
If you're using this for a short nap you will find it helpful to silence your phone apart from the setting of a quiet wake me up.
When you first sit down for a 20-minute nap you may not find it easy to settle into sleep.
You may think I must get to sleep because I've only 20 minutes but if you use the practice for napping at a regular time each day the very act of beginning will help you on your way.
The important thing is don't worry about sleep.
It will come.
Have no doubt it will come.
So let us begin.
First of all making sure that you are comfortable.
Really,
Really comfortable.
Remember this is your time.
You deserve this period of renewal and refreshment.
So just let things be.
For a change,
Just let things be.
Take a deep breath and as you breathe out think of how wonderful it is to be here in this moment.
Let your thought on each outbreath be thank God or thank goodness.
Thank God or thank goodness.
We have so much to be grateful for.
Our very life.
The space that we are in just now.
Thank God.
Thank goodness.
Let each outbreath be filled with more and more thoughts of contentment.
Thoughts of relaxation.
Gratitude.
Thank God.
Thank goodness.
Let's pause for a few breaths.
We are not making any strenuous effort to get to sleep.
We're just happy to be here in this restful state.
This ever more restful state.
Thank God.
Thank goodness.
We pause for a few more breaths.
All is well in this time and space.
This space where we can simply be.
All is well in the here and the now.
Thank God.
Thank goodness.
Another pause to just breathe in relaxation.
We are grateful for all the benefits of our lives.
Past and present benefits.
Thankful that we have come this far.
Thank God.
Thank goodness.
Again and again.
With each breath we notice ourselves falling into a more restful state.
Allowing ourselves to be entirely supported by the good earth.
This wonderful gravity that keeps us here.
Thank God for that.
Thank goodness.
A few more breaths.
Relaxing your eyes,
Our faces,
Our hands,
Our legs.
Letting all fall away.
Noticing the slower and slower rising and falling of our chest.
As we fall into deeper and deeper rest.
Such peace.
All is well.
We are utterly content.
Thank God.
Thank goodness.
Again and again.
At your own pace breathing in peace.
Breathing out gratitude.
Breathing in the good air.
Breathing out feelings of love and contentment.
Thank God.
Thank goodness.
Happy.
Relaxed.
Peaceful.
Content.
Grateful.
Grateful for all that I have.
Sending out peace to the world.
All is well.
All is calm.
Namaste.
