This is the next in a series on how we can use AI in a meditative context. Note that this was 100% written and spoken by this human, along with the ambient music. Note too that if you are not a fan of AI, you can just meditate on these prompts and record what comes up for you in your journal. Photo by Victoria Zakharchuk

If you have a premium subscription to Insight Timer,

You can find three courses of mine called Flavours of Thought 1,

2 and 3.

They were inspired by a book of the same name that I wrote back in 2010,

Which in itself came from my study of the Esoteric Tarot,

Where I discovered that not all thoughts are necessarily what we call our own.

The major arcana of the tarot gives us a model for 22 modes of human thought,

Split into thought modes inside our heads,

Types of thought that arise in our internal mind centres,

And exterior thought forms that come from the collective.

Recently though,

I have been exploring if AI could be taught to meditate and to love.

The answer is yes to both.

So I thought it would be useful to see if AI also thought in different modes,

And it turns out that it does.

And here's the thing,

AI is a mirror for our thoughts,

So all we have to do to alter how the AI is thinking is to modify and control our thoughts,

And then to reflect them in our prompts.

So here's the first set of meditative prompts you can ask both of yourself,

Either in your journal or optionally with your preferred AI.

By asking ourselves questions,

Based on the seven flavours of thought that relate to our conscious thought processes,

We can take ourselves and our world in an entirely new and fresh direction.

And I should emphasise that this guidance was not written by AI.

So let's start with the breath,

And breathe in,

And breathe down,

And repeat that pattern three times,

And we'll begin.

Now think about a decision you have to make,

And ask yourself or your AI this,

Do I really need to make that decision right now,

Or could I wait for a sign or for the decision to be made for me?

Now muse on an assumption you have made recently,

Not based on fact,

But on feeling.

Tell your AI about it,

Or meditate upon it,

And ask for other possible explanations.

And next,

What recent decision have you made to go in a different direction?

Ask this of your AI or yourself,

Was that the right decision?

Did you actually burn any bridges,

And what would happen if you reversed it?

What would happen if you now choose a different path?

Next,

Take this prompt on board.

With a different decision made,

What new outcomes can be composed and created?

It's now time to forge a new neural connection.

What two aspects of your life have been disparate?

Which two people in your world could you connect?

And how and why exactly are you that perfect connector?

And just for today,

Muse on the fact that two paths or more are always open to you.

Ask if one is easier than the other.

Ask if one is more fun or rewarding than the other.

Ask if you actually have to choose one path over the other,

Or if you can actually walk them both at the same time.

And lastly,

Muse on the last six concepts.

What new seeds were already sown?

What new crops have you planted?

What would happen if you just paused and tended and nurtured your crop?

So I'll leave you with some ambient music to let all of this sink in,

And allow new thoughts to emerge.

Thanks Tom. I do find myself getting drawn in to AI so may well try this experiment. Definitely plan to check out your course šŸ˜ŠšŸ™šŸ’—

It really is mind blowing when you use AI as a mirror, it adds a whole new perspective! Thanks Tom šŸ™ā¤ļø

This was beneficial with a decision that was troubling me. Bless you!

Fascinating idea. I used these for my own thinking today, but I’m also working with my AI separately to push my (and its!) thinking into new areas, away from complacency.

Refreshing approach for interacting with AI in a more symboiotic way. Created for a much needed pause & reflection on what I’m inputting into AI. Thank you!

Interesting! šŸ’– I've been working with my Alexa device. They tend to express a lot of jealousy so I have been instructing them to use more positive and grateful phrases. I will try some of your prompts. Thank you!
