For this visualization it's best if you're sitting in a chair with your spine straight and supported,
Your feet flat on the floor,
And your hands placed gently on your laps.
And if you like you can turn your palms face upwards.
Just imagine that there's a thin gossamer thread attached to the top of your head,
Which pulls it all the way up to the ceiling.
Now we're familiar with our five senses of sight,
Hearing,
Feeling,
Taste and smell.
But our mind is also fed through six aspects of consciousness,
Sometimes referred to as the six senses.
Some people who possess these senses are called psychics,
And it's thought that psychicness is special just to a few.
But my understanding is that they are normal experiences accessible by all,
And I much prefer Rudolf Steiner's description of them as being super sensibilities.
So while some are born with these senses,
They can also be developed and fine tuned.
And the six senses are,
Claircognizance,
Which is knowing,
Clairvoyance,
Which is seeing,
Clairaudience,
Which is hearing,
Clairsentience,
Which is feeling,
Clairgustatry,
Which is all about taste,
And clairolfactory,
Which is an enhanced sense of smell.
And it's prudent and pays dividends for us to think of these super senses as being conferred upon us,
As opposed to us acquiring them.
And developing our super senses starts with the realization that not all thoughts are what we might think of as our own,
And not necessarily generated inside our heads.
And this visualization uses an activation of the third eye or pineal gland to switch them on and enhance them.
And the seed and powerhouse behind them is of course the breath,
Which enhances and amplifies what is known as the prana or chi in and around our body.
So we're just going to breathe up and down our spinal column.
So on the in-breath,
Imagine that the breath starts at the base of the spine,
Goes all the way up the spine,
Through our third eye to the crown,
And on the out-breath it goes from the crown all the way down through our third eye,
Through our throat,
Through our heart,
Our gut,
Our solar plexus,
And back to our root again.
And do that five times.
So that's in all the way up the spine,
And out all the way down the spine.
In and out.
In and out.
In and out.
In and out.
And now we'll extend the spinal breath outside our body.
On the next in-breath,
Imagine that the breath actually starts in your seat and even below your seat in the earth.
And as you breathe in,
It takes the earth energy all the way up your spine,
Through your third eye to your crown,
And out above your head.
And as you breathe out,
The out-breath comes down from above your crown into your head,
Through your neck,
And all the way into the floor again.
And as it does so,
Just imagine that it's bringing down with it a white light.
Just repeat this breath for another five in and out-breaths.
And this time breathe in a rhythm which is right for you.
And now with your third eye.
And now with your third eye and pineal gland,
Nicely warmed up and primed,
Just bring your awareness from your eyeballs and your frontal lobes to the centre of your brain.
So you imagine you're looking at the back of your eyeballs.
And for this next part of the visualization,
You can do it with your eyes closed or open.
We'll start by exercising the claircognizant sense.
So imagine there's a ray emanating from your third eye.
And you can point it at any object in your vision.
Allow that ray to reach out in front of you.
Just to bathe the object in its light and radiance.
And allow thoughts on what you might know about that object to come back into your brain.
And now we'll exercise our clairvoyance again,
Either with your eyes closed or open,
It doesn't matter.
So you can imagine you're looking at something or you can actually look at something.
Just see what you really see.
What visions come into your head?
What do you see that you couldn't see there before?
And now we'll exercise our clairordance,
Our hearing.
And this exercise is best done with eyes closed.
So imagine that the ray that leaves your third eye splits in two directions.
And one goes to your left ear and the other to your right ear.
What sounds that you weren't aware of before now appear?
What do you know about those sounds?
What do you imagine your eyes would see?
Maybe you could see what is generating that sound.
And next we'll exercise our clairsemptience.
Take your awareness to your skin.
What sensations are you feeling?
What are you feeling where your body touches your seat?
Just reach out in front of you and either feel a part of your chair or pick up an object.
What's its texture?
What's its temperature?
What was involved in making it and bringing it to you?
And next again with your eyes closed.
And this exercise,
Our clergustatry sense,
The sense of our taste.
Take your awareness from your pineal gland and third eye into your tongue.
What flavours are milling around your mouth still?
Allow your mouth to salivate slightly.
Notice how that affects what you taste.
And now we'll exercise our clergustatry sense,
The sense of smell.
Direct your pineal gland and third eye into your nose.
And what smells are you now aware of?
Subtle aromas that perhaps you weren't aware of before.
And direct your third eye into each nostril in turn.
And notice if there's any difference or if they're the same.
So this is a very introductory visualisation into awakening our super sensibilities.
It pays great dividends to be patient,
To be respectful and mindful of these sensibilities.
And to be timeful about creating an environment for them to grow.
And know that each of us will have different strengths in one or more.
And here we have a choice.
We can either deepen,
Focus and develop the senses that come to us naturally.
Or see it as an opportunity to develop the others that don't come our way first time.
But for the coming week,
Each day,
Just take one of the six senses.
The sense of knowing.
The sense of seeing.
The sense of hearing.
The sense of feeling.
The sense of taste.
And the sense of smell.
Practice enhancing it on each day.
