Hello,
And welcome.
I'd like to welcome you here to this guided meditation on letting go.
Letting go of control.
And it's based on conversations that I've had with loved ones recently,
And we were talking about the Let Them Theory.
Let them,
Let me,
And how it's so necessary,
Not just helpful,
But necessary to allow people to be who they are.
And I thought,
This is such a beautiful theory,
And concept,
And now book.
But oftentimes people,
We can understand things cognitively,
But sometimes we have old stories,
Or beliefs,
Or even energy that might be blocking us from allowing us to do the things that we understand cognitively,
Mentally,
You know.
So I thought,
I'm gonna do a companion type meditation of letting go.
Letting them,
Letting me,
Letting things flow the way that they should.
And so that's my intention with this meditation today.
So I invite you to just settle in.
Take some slow,
Deep breaths.
Find a comfortable position,
Either sitting,
Lying down.
Get as comfortable as possible,
And let your hands rest easily.
Maybe facing upward,
If that feels comfortable.
And if you haven't already,
I invite you to gently close your eyes.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose,
And a long breath out through your mouth.
Take another slow,
Deep breath like this.
Long breath out through your mouth.
And again,
Inhale calm,
Exhale tension,
Allowing your shoulders to effortlessly drop.
Allowing the jaw to unclench.
There's nowhere else to be right now.
Just right here,
In this moment.
And I invite you to imagine yourself standing beside a wide,
Slow-moving river.
Just gently let this image come up into your mind.
The water of the river represents other people's choices,
Other people's opinions and moods and behaviors.
And some parts of the river are calm,
You notice.
And other parts are messy and fast,
Maybe even confusing,
Swirling.
Now notice something important,
That you are not in the river.
You're safely standing on the bank.
And as thoughts may come up about other people,
Maybe what they said or what they did,
Or what you wish they would change,
Picture each one as a leaf floating past on the water.
You don't need to grab the leaf.
You don't need to stop the river.
Silently say to yourself,
Let them feel what they feel.
Let them think what they think.
Let them choose what they choose.
The river keeps flowing.
And you remain steady on the shore.
Just take some deep breaths into this.
Feel what they feel.
Let them think what they think.
Let them choose what they choose.
And again,
Inhale calm.
Exhale any tension in your body.
Feeling it release down your grounding cord.
And now imagine you're wearing a heavy backpack.
And inside it are things that were never really yours to carry.
And it feels really heavy.
You're feeling the weight of that.
And inside are expectations,
Other people's reactions,
Maybe the need to be light,
The urge to explain yourself over and over.
Gently take these out.
And as you remove each weight,
Say softly,
That is not mine to carry.
And if there's anything else,
Maybe wishing something would be different,
Maybe simply the need to control,
Maybe mistrust,
Whatever it may be,
One by one gently take these out.
And as you're removing them,
Keep repeating and feeling the weight releasing,
That is not mine to carry.
And I invite you to set the backpack down when you're done.
And to notice how much lighter your body feels when you stop carrying the weight that belongs to others.
And allowing that just to transmute,
To clear clean light.
And now softly turn away from the river.
And you notice behind you is a path,
Your path.
This path represents your choices,
Your values,
Your energy,
Maybe your next step.
And take a deep breath in and say,
Let me,
Let me choose how I respond.
Let me protect my peace.
Let me move at my own pace.
Let me be proud of myself,
Even when others don't understand.
Let me decide to even do something simple,
Like put my phone down,
Not respond.
Listen to my own inner calm and guidance.
And with each step on this path,
You feel more grounded,
More calm,
More like yourself.
And as you continue to walk,
You come upon a small garden.
And this garden represents your life.
And you notice something important.
You don't control the weather here.
You don't control other people's gardens.
But you do choose what you water,
What you nurture,
What you stop giving energy to.
You kneel and gently water the plants that matter to you most.
You water your kindness,
Your creativity,
Your rest,
Your growth,
Your heart,
Your soul,
Whatever you choose to water.
And you let the rest be.
I invite you to take another deep breath in and slowly let it out.
And silently repeat,
I do not need to control others to be okay.
I am allowed to choose myself.
I release my need to control outcomes.
I trust the universe's divine plan for me.
Or whatever may resonate for you.
I trust in my own higher power.
I let go of what is no longer meant for me.
I allow life to flow through me with ease.
I release the past and all of its attachments.
I let go of anxiety.
And I embrace deep inner peace.
I surrender my need to know how things will happen.
I am so held and supported as I let go.
I release old stories,
Maybe old patterns,
Any old beliefs that keep me stuck.
I let go of the past.
I trust that what is mine will always find me.
I release the weight of other people's opinions.
I let go and make space for miracles in my life.
I surrender the how and focus on the feeling.
I am at peace with the present moment.
Take another deep breath.
Let them.
Let me.
On the out breath,
Let me.
One more time on the in breath,
Let them.
I invite you to start gently coming back into awareness,
Into your body.
Maybe gently wiggling your fingers and toes.
Making some slow,
Subtle movements.
Maybe even gently massaging your heart.
Slow circles.
And I invite you at any time that you're feeling like maybe things are coming up for you,
Or you're feeling the need to control a situation,
To come back to this snapshot of this moment.
To come back to this meditation and this reminder that it's okay to let other people's actions happen to let them and to let you choose what you water in your own garden.
I thank you for joining me here for this practice.
It's been such an honor and a joy.
And may you carry this into your day,
Into your life,
Into your year,
Into the new you.
I love you because I can.
And I hope you have a blessed day.
Namaste.
