Welcome to another mini deep dive.
I'm really,
Really,
Really excited to share this one with you.
It is a group hangout session that we did on Zoom,
And it's hilarious.
If you are into laughing at the adorable insanity that does things like judge our judgments,
Be stressed out about being stressed out,
Or worrying about worry,
You're going to find a lot to laugh at.
Stick with it through the whole thing.
It starts off,
I don't know,
Maybe a little bit intense,
But just take your time.
I want to promise you that you're going to be laughing,
But I don't know you.
We'll just have to wait and see.
Enjoy this video.
You know,
It's interesting as you guys share your stories about what's going on.
And again,
We can find a common thread in some way that says,
I'm afraid of getting it wrong.
It isn't that beautifully classic.
And we all have our own individual stories about,
I'm afraid to get it wrong,
But it's just that.
And there's something I want to touch on here that I find that's relevant.
And that is to look at the nature of life and existence.
And you can see from a very zoomed out perspective that life doesn't make mistakes.
Life can't get it wrong.
Everything that is moves with purpose.
But in saying that,
There's another side of the coin,
Which is,
If it's true that there's no problem,
Then if you think there's a problem,
There's no problem with your problem.
It's allowed.
Just like you can see as we dive deep,
There's nothing in reality to be afraid of.
Therefore,
If fear happens,
No need to be afraid of that.
It's beautifully allowed.
And this speaks to the container that is life,
That is holding space for the authenticity of the human experience,
Which has all these other elements.
Seeing problems,
Being afraid of things,
Having doubt,
Being confused.
These are all incredibly important and valid experiences.
And it also comes back to the nature of perspective,
Where a problem might arise.
And in one regard,
This is something that's simply asking for a little bit of attention.
It's simply asking,
Hey,
We might need to look at this and bring some awareness.
And that's very different from a perspective that says,
This is a problem and it means I'm broken.
It means something's wrong with me.
And again,
If that's happening,
Then great.
Because it's saying,
Hey,
We need to bring a little bit of awareness to this,
So we can see it more clearly.
And what I'm saying here is that these are all beautiful indicators,
Right,
To see yourself judging yourself.
Not only is that just adorably human,
But it's a pathway to see beyond judging yourself.
And this is really an invitation to embrace the totality,
Once again,
Of all aspects of what we are.
And realize that,
Oh,
We don't have to escape this thing.
Because if we are battling against it,
In battling against fear,
That only amplifies fear.
Do you guys notice that?
Like,
If you see that you're judging yourself,
And then you judge yourself for judging yourself,
Judgment grows.
If you're mad at yourself,
And then you're mad at yourself for being mad at yourself,
Anger grows.
If you can't relax,
And then you don't relax because you can't relax,
Anxiety grows.
You see,
The invitation is just an immediate pause,
An immediate pause of acceptance,
That whatever is showing is okay,
It's part of it.
And so if I think there's a problem,
It's okay that I think there's a problem.
If I think I'm doing something wrong,
It's okay that I think I'm doing something wrong.
Maybe what that is,
Is that my system is alerting me to another way of seeing this.
And so that pain is an invitation to stop and question what I think I'm seeing.
You see,
You can't acknowledge that,
If you don't completely allow yourself to acknowledge how you feel.
And yes,
I know,
It's scary.
Because it seems like it throws us back into that space of the unknown.
It's like in one moment,
It feels like we have our shit together.
Everything's going swimmingly.
And then something happens.
Welcome to planet Earth.
This is something that I don't see that we ever get away from.
Do you guys notice,
Like in your human journey,
Even though in a way you're becoming more conscious,
Life keeps happening?
It's kind of like saying shit keeps happening.
And maybe there was this fantasy at one point of,
If I become conscious,
Then shit doesn't happen anymore.
And you know,
I've said before,
And of course,
I have to look at this through my own experience.
But these moments of pain,
They are always such a beautiful invitation for me to ask,
What is it in me that's being disturbed?
Like,
Why am I bothered by this?
And you have to look for yourself.
But for me,
It's so obvious that it's my ego.
It's so obvious that I want people to see me a certain way.
And I'm afraid that they're not.
It's so obvious that my ego is afraid of something not happening in the future.
So that it wants to overly control what's happening right now.
You see,
There's this little aspect in me that thinks who I am is real.
And tries really hard to keep that dream alive.
And I really hope we can see the comedy in it.
Because that little guy or little girl is going to keep fighting for survival.
That ego is going to keep popping its head back up,
Saying,
But what about me?
And of course,
The transformation isn't in getting rid of that.
But it's transforming our relationship with it.
And acknowledging that that's just there.
That's part of it.
It's part of everyone's journey.
Even for those that can't see,
That's what it is.
That's what it is.
And in a beautiful way,
We could say the conscious path is one of just making peace with the ego.
It's not bludgeoning it to death.
It's holding space for it.
This is what I love about the opportunity of humility.
The opportunity of acknowledging that I'm human.
Which in another way is simply making space for the reality of my humanity,
Which gets scared.
Which doubts and gets confused.
And forgets.
You see,
My friends,
Let's not forget that this thing that we are exploring,
This miracle,
It's ultimately about life.
And sometimes that's really hard to see,
Because we think it's about the me.
It's about life as a whole.
I was going for a walk earlier today,
And I've been taking the same walk down the mountain and back up,
And I get to just look at these extraordinary mountains and cliffs and valleys,
And I just get hit over the head with the beauty of it all.
Where you just stop and you say,
Oh my God,
What is this place called life?
And I'm reminded that this that I see,
The beauty that I see,
Is only possible because everything is as it is.
This container has been created for us to be,
For us to go on this journey.
And the only one that's not having a good time is the ego.
You can be hiking in these glorious mountains and be like,
Yeah,
But I had plans this week.
I really thought those people were gonna like me.
I really thought I was gonna get what I want.
And that's fine,
Because I'm so convinced that life or God just sees that as the cutest thing.
It's like,
Oh,
Honey,
You forgot.
You forgot what this is really about.
And that's okay.
Just be still for a moment.
Let me hold you.
Do you see this that we're just getting gently lost?
That's all.
And I know it's scary sometimes.
But every time you come through the other side and you realize,
Oh,
Wait,
I'm okay.
Wow,
That was scary.
What a ride.
And the only ride you took was through your imagination.
Come on,
That's funny.
The only ride you took was trip through your imagination.
And you see that this is everything we're trying to figure out.
We're trying to figure out what's going on in our imagination.
We're not trying to figure out what's going on in life.
Because if you look at life,
You'll be like,
Oh,
Well,
Life's fine,
But I'm a mess.
Yeah,
That's kind of the point.
And you can surrender that part of yourself.
That's a mess.
Because that part,
That's never going to get figured out.
You see,
Because that's the quest of the ego,
Figuring it out is like trying to make it real.
Trying to know something that you just can't know.
And in everything that I share with you guys,
Isn't it not somehow a pointer to just surrender at all?
And take a breath and realize that this moment,
Actually,
I'm incredibly whole,
Right?
Because I'm afraid that I'm not enough.
I'm afraid I'm not taken care of.
But where's that happening?
Where's that fear?
Is that here right now?
Is that what's real?
And as we see this,
And we come to terms with it,
We realize that once again,
It's an invitation to embrace the truth of the unknown.
Rather than fighting it,
Rather than trying to conquer it.
It's like,
Oh,
This isn't about controlling it.
This isn't about dominating it.
This is about surrendering to what's true.
And what's true is,
I don't know.
And also what's true is,
This is what it seems like.
But do I know that?
No.
And how many other times have I scared myself silly with what I think I know?
How many times?
And you see,
We're right back in the same spot we've always been.
Scaring ourselves silly.
And you see that this moment right now is the same moment that's always been.
It's the same presence.
The same emptiness that's holding you while you go on your ride.
It's the same now.
Tomorrow,
It'll be the same now.
Next week,
It'll be the same now.
And in the face of all of this,
What I see is not some determined effort to maintain this recognition.
But it's to recognize a wellness amidst the perceived insanity.
Recognize that you're going to get lost.
You're going to drift off.
You're going to get confused.
You're going to get scared.
You're going to feel everything that you feel.
But all the while,
As you're seeing right now,
You're okay.
And in that is the invitation to go on a great adventure.
To be human.
I mean,
Each of you here,
You're living your own unique life.
Your own unique imagined life.
Your own adventure.
And I guess the additional invitation is to,
At least right now,
Gently remember the magnitude of the miracle you're swimming in.
The immensity of discovery between what is real and imagined.
And to see that it's only the imagined that we suffer over.
And I don't know about you,
But for me,
As I tap into this,
What I recognize is the remembrance that it's all imaginary.
And so,
If that's true,
Then it's a blank canvas.
And if it's a blank canvas,
The question arises,
How do I want to play?
Maybe that play is,
I want to relax.
Take care of myself.
Maybe that play is,
I want to test the boundaries of my fear.
To see that there's nothing to fear.
Because that's the adventure.
That's the real adventure we're all on.
We go explore our fears.
And then when we get our feelings hurt,
We come home and take a rest.
Remember what's true.
And then go back out there into the wild.
So go play.
