Healing All That Is Separate
An insightful exploration into the nature of healing, while making obvious the opportunity of all forms of Spirituality; to heal any sense of separation and return to the wholeness of what is real. This audio Journey with Tiger Singleton is both eye-opening and heart-opening.

The theme for today is healing all that is separate.
I really enjoy the simplicity of healing as it relates to healing that which is separate.
If one were to examine everything they want to bring healing to,
In some way or another it's trying to bring healing to an internal sense of being separate.
The phrase being separate points to an internal sensation where it seems like something's misplaced,
Something's lost,
Something's distant.
And you can see that that feeling of separation in one way or another gives rise to every disturbance within the human being.
If you're anxious you feel separate from something.
If you're sad you feel separate from something.
If you're angry you feel separate from something.
If you're disturbed you feel separate from something.
And I love the softness and this recognition that this is every human being's pain.
They feel separate from something.
And I invite you to recognize the sincerity of that in your own experience.
Any disturbance,
Any anxiety,
Any anxiousness,
Any lack of joy,
Seems like something's missing.
Seems that I'm separate from something.
And in this also recognize the unending stories one could tell about that sense of separation.
But yet it's the same feeling,
It's the same sense.
It's like every human being on the planet has a different story to tell about the separation.
Everyone can tell a different story about what they're missing.
And yet the more you unravel what it is perceived to be missing,
We find that it's the same thing for every human being.
And if healing is going to emerge for that which is perceived to be separate,
What is going to be healed is the sincerity of what is separate rather than our stories of separation.
And to clarify that,
We can have a thousand different stories on the surface in our lives about what we're missing,
And we make it our goal or agenda to go fix all those stories.
And yet after a while we see that we haven't gone anywhere,
We haven't made any progress.
That sense of separation is still there.
And notice for a second also collectively within the human society,
Everyone's pain is this sense of separation and everyone's running around the planet trying to fix it.
Essentially saying if other people were just how I wanted them to be,
Then I wouldn't feel separate.
If this would change,
Then I wouldn't feel separate.
It's like the playful insanity of our idea of world peace.
To realize that your idea of world peace says,
If everyone did what I wanted them to do,
Then there would be peace,
Which becomes a hell for everyone else.
Which is also like saying if everyone was my prisoner,
Then I could relax.
And you see that this is what gives rise to war.
If only the other side did what we wanted them to do,
And they're not,
So we will force upon them what we want.
And I love looking at this from a spiritual but also a religious context.
There's so many ancient writings that attempt to point to this.
But religiously speaking,
From a biblical standpoint,
It's been said that the original sin,
The first sin,
Is man separating himself from God.
In one way you can say that's the only sin.
Man separates himself from God.
And this is the original separation.
So much is to say that if you perceive yourself as separate from God,
Then your action will reflect that separation,
Which can be said to be wrongdoing.
The wrongdoing itself isn't the sin.
It's what comes before that.
Every action,
Everything that comes out of you is in response to how you see.
Like the doing,
The manifestation is the very last step.
This is why I often tell people to forget about the doing.
Forget about changing the doing.
Look at what you see.
Where is it coming from?
Because so much to say that if you perceive the truth,
Which is to say you are not separate from God,
That there is no separation,
Then your action will reflect that.
It has to.
This is why people have such a difficult time changing the action,
Because they don't change what's fundamentally seen.
But the way that the story goes,
The way that the Bible tries to illustrate this original sin,
And my God,
This is so beautiful to me.
And again,
This is my interpretation of it.
So God says that,
Okay,
Adam and Eve,
Here you are in the garden.
It's beautiful.
There's animals.
There's abundant food.
Here's the garden for you.
And God says,
This is like the only rule.
There's two trees.
There is the tree of life.
You can eat from that tree.
And then there's the tree that is called the knowledge of good and evil.
Don't eat from that tree.
Leave that tree alone.
Eat from the tree of life.
I think it's very telling that this other tree is called the tree of knowledge of good and evil,
Which is like saying to know what God knows,
To know what is good,
To know what is bad.
Judgment.
And God says,
Don't even try.
And of course,
The human being is tempted.
I want to know what God knows.
I want to be God.
This sin is inevitable.
It's not that they did it wrong.
It's showing that it's going to happen.
And so Eve eats from this tree,
And what does she immediately do?
She covers up her body in shame.
And what this points to is that if you think you know good and bad,
You will assume that you are bad.
If you think you know good and bad,
You assume that there is a bad.
It starts with you.
And this is the separation that happens.
And you can see that this is the whole dilemma within the mind of the human being.
It's constantly trying to figure out is this good or bad?
Is this right or wrong?
And you see how it relates to you.
Am I good or bad?
Am I right or wrong?
In that separation,
You cannot relax.
You cannot just be still.
You see,
In the play of something real called good and bad,
Even if you see yourself as good,
You're afraid that you will be bad.
And so you can't relax right now.
And I just invite you to see this,
That within your own psyche,
That is the difficulty,
The assumption that you could get it wrong.
And automatically,
You assume other people can get it wrong.
And in this split,
We might say,
You get the experience of guilt,
Shame,
And all of these unpleasant emotional experiences.
All of these emotions that reflect a perception of separation.
And as it relates to healing separation,
The healing of separation is to see that there is no separation in such a way that there's nothing to be healed.
Like as it relates to the person,
How do I heal myself?
You see that you're not broken.
You see that there's nothing to heal.
It's already done.
This is the difficulty of the human journey that's constantly trying to heal itself.
It doesn't get anywhere.
And you'll notice this,
Every person that you see that's uptight,
That's like angry or frustrated,
They think they know,
Right?
They think they know how it should be and it's not.
And the most relaxed person,
I don't know.
And in those moments that you're tense or anxious or whatever,
There's a fundamental belief that life is getting it wrong or that you're getting it wrong or somebody else is getting it wrong as if you know.
And my goodness,
This is the great comedy of my human experience to look back over my whole life and see that I didn't know shit.
And I thought I knew.
And that was my whole dilemma when really I look back and it's like,
I could have just trusted.
I could have just relaxed and let life be life.
You see the story of the devil,
That character that is so violent and makes so much noise.
The story of the devil is that he was once an angel in heaven and there was a party going on and he realized that this party wasn't about him.
And so he says,
I'm going to go have my own party.
That's about me.
I'm going to be God.
And the way that he tries to be God is to be in opposition to God.
And the only way he can try and be God is through some display of violence.
Subsequently creating hell.
And the devil is simply an illustration of that character inside of yourself that feels separate and wants to be in control.
And it's that character that feels like it's separate that is the one that suffers.
That is the one that experiences hell.
In fact,
If you've ever had an experience of hell,
Do you notice the only thing you're thinking about is that character of you?
What about my life?
What about what I want?
What about what I think is right?
What about how I think it should be?
The human being in its misunderstanding,
Which again is incredibly innocent,
Is constantly trying to be God rather than letting God be God.
And there's so many ways that this is illustrated.
Spiritually speaking,
It's often pointed to in the play of ego.
And very simply,
Ego is the mental construct of you,
Who you think you are.
Do you see that all of your human pain is associated to that character?
All of it.
It's that character that feels separate.
It's that character that's trying to survive.
It's that character that's afraid of what other people think.
It's that character that's trying so hard.
In fact,
If you ever get offended,
What's offended?
That character.
If you ever feel insulted,
What's insulted?
That character.
And you see,
This character is the separation from God.
You think that there is God,
And then this character,
And then you.
You think that there is life,
And then you.
And you want to survive you.
And the way that you survive you is to fight life.
How's it going?
Do you notice that life wins?
Every time.
Every time.
There's been a million arguments in my experience with life.
I've never won.
I've only exhausted myself into a soft surrender,
Laying down my ego,
Saying,
Okay life,
You win.
And then what do I find out?
Oh,
Everything's fine.
Life knew what it was doing.
You see,
When you,
I've mentioned this many,
Many times before,
But it's foundational that to observe the reality of you in this moment.
Like imagine there is no past and there is no future,
But just totally present.
Here you are alive.
Do you see that you're not missing anything?
In order for you to be missing something,
You have to imagine something's missing,
Which means you have to go into the past and go into the future.
But in reality,
In this moment,
You are so incredibly whole.
There's a breath that's breathing through you,
Abundant supply.
There's literally nothing missing.
You are gifted with life.
Ta-da,
Here you are.
In such a way that in this moment,
You have literally been given everything that's real.
And what you have in this moment right now is what you've always had in every moment.
And all of your disturbances has been the play of imagination about a past and a future.
Always.
But in reality,
In what is real and true,
You've always been whole.
The only thing that's been threatened is your character.
And you see throughout this whole life that you've been through as far back as you can remember.
The only thing you were concerned about or worried about or afraid of is that you wouldn't make it to this moment right now and be whole and be complete.
You thought you'd be missing something.
And here now in reality,
You're whole.
You made it.
And nothing has gone how you thought it was going to go.
And in that,
You can look back and see,
Oh,
I could have just relaxed.
You see the invitation of trust.
I could have trusted in this moment.
I just invite you to see beyond any doubt and not just because I'm saying it,
But to see it for yourself.
What is true?
I was never separate.
I was never really missing anything.
I was just confused about what was real,
Which again is totally understandable.
This is a big miracle.
Do you see how in the forest,
In a very real way,
It's chaos?
It's a mess.
But do you see how in the most divine way it's a symphony?
And when you get really still,
You can hear the symphony.
You can start to see the divinity.
It's like,
Oh my God,
Everything is perfectly placed.
You zoom out and it's beautiful.
You zoom in,
You say,
What the fuck is this?
It's a mess.
And it's the same with the planet Earth.
You zoom out.
This is gorgeous.
You zoom in.
This is fucking crazy.
You zoom out and you see everything is perfect.
All of the little bugs doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing.
Everything is serving the whole damn thing.
Whether you think it smells good or not,
It's irrelevant.
Everything is doing what it's doing so that this miracle can be the miracle.
Whether you like it or not.
And when you zoom out and you see the whole thing,
You say thank you to everything.
To everything.
You might say,
I don't understand you,
But thank you.
You smell really bad,
But thank you.
You're kind of a dick,
But thank you.
It has to be that way.
In order for life to be life.
Again,
When you check in with the present moment nature of what is,
You realize that this is kind of a miracle.
I mean,
What the fuck is this?
Here we are.
How is this even happening?
In order for this to be happening,
The trees have to be the trees.
Without it,
None of this would be.
And so this is where the devotion comes in.
You see the sacredness of everything.
You see that everything that's real is sacred.
And again,
This is the healing of separation.
You see that there's nothing misplaced.
You see that everything is part of the whole.
Everything is the whole.
It's like the analogy of having the flu.
The mind says to heal the flu is for the flu to go away.
No.
To heal the flu is to stop arguing with the flu.
You see that to have the flu is an expression of health.
Your body is literally working on behalf of health.
And the only reason you don't like it is because it gets in the way of your character.
I've got shit to do.
But yet life is literally nurturing you through the expression of flu.
And so for one person,
It's the perfect excuse to relax.
Ah,
Thank you.
That's healing.
I can relax.
I can allow.
It's right on time.
You see in this,
I want to say that this is the most profound thing,
But I know I keep saying that.
You do not experience something called the flu.
You experience your own seeing of something called the flu.
So you either experience a perceived separation through how you see,
Or you experience wholeness through how you see.
You don't actually experience something out there.
And if you think you're experiencing something out there,
That separation,
I'm separate from that.
So that now becomes an enemy.
The flu becomes an enemy.
That threatens your separate self.
Now you become the devil and try and destroy that thing when actually that thing is divinity.
Oh my goodness.
To really see this,
You see the invitation to just bow.
You can celebrate everything.

I don't see any wholeness in shooting heroin in someone's veins. I can understand that could be part of a bigger picture, and probably is, but keep doing that will definitely lead someone to destroy the most precious gift we've been given: life!
