It's okay to forget the truth. This session offers a powerful release from the pressure of always trying to be "Zen." You are here to get lost and find yourself again. The path isn't about controlling your human life, but about forgiving your humanness and stopping self-judgment, which opens the door for profound humility and love to flow.

I completely understand how the mind might say I totally get this and it makes a bunch of sense but after I leave here I'm going to forget all of this and fall back into fear.

How do I overcome that?

And you want to know the truth of the matter and I hope that this helps but it's the same for me.

When I'm done talking here with you I'm gonna forget most of this,

Go back to my human life and forget how sacred this all is.

Which I hope in a way what it shows you is that this isn't so much about conquering something,

It's not about overcoming something,

It's about surrendering to something.

And to furthermore understand that the invitation isn't to be Zen all of the time,

That's not the point.

In the same way,

And this might be a silly example but it could also illustrate it,

If the invitation is to enter into a beautiful relationship with the sacred,

To be in communion with reality,

It's the same whereas if you enter a relationship with another human being it doesn't mean that you're going to be standing next to them side-by-side for every second.

That's not the point,

That's not the invitation of relationship.

The invitation of relationship is to,

Let's say,

Establish some pattern of consistency where there is an invitation to get a regular reflection that ultimately helps you see yourself more clearly.

But it doesn't mean you don't have your,

Let's call it,

Individual experience of your humanity.

Because just as much as you are here to discover the sacred,

You are also here to explore the insanity of your humanness.

Which is also to say you're here to get lost.

You are here to forget this so that you can remember.

You are here to have a human experience.

And this is where people tend to get so lost in spirituality,

Where we can paint this beautiful picture of what life really is and then we think that we're supposed to stay there.

Which is what leads us to a experience of pretending to be spiritual.

Because it becomes an expectation of how you should be,

Rather than an invitation to embrace the reality of your humanity.

Just like in the illustration,

Imagine the absurdity of going to the cinema and watching a movie and thinking,

I'm not gonna let this movie affect me.

I know it's not real.

So I'm gonna sit here and be totally Zen the whole time.

No,

You're there to have an experience.

You're there to get lost in the movie.

Because no matter how lost you get in the movie,

The reality of what you are is unaffected by the movie.

And so we have come here as human beings to have a human experience.

To get lost.

But you have this,

Let's call it a connection to divinity,

Where there's the invitation to have a relationship with the sacred.

That is a space where you can consistently remember.

That will ultimately add value to your life.

That will increase the quality of your human life.

But you're still going to have a human life.

So in effect,

This isn't about controlling your human life.

If anything,

It's about forgiving your human life.

Which in another way is to say,

Stop judging yourself.

And there's so many beautiful opportunities that come from what I'm gonna call the insanity of our humanness.

Right,

Look at it in a relationship context.

Imagine you get caught up and you say some hurtful shit.

You act in ways that we might say are out of alignment with the truth of things.

Is that not then an epic opportunity to be humble and to have a profoundly honest conversation?

Isn't that an opportunity for a deeper love to flow?

Isn't that a great opportunity to express what you've been learning?

Do you see how you need both?

You need to find yourself and you need to get lost.

You need to sleep and you need to be awake.

So maybe the deeper question is,

Can you let yourself be asleep when you're asleep and let yourself be awake when you're awake?

Or are you going to judge yourself when you're awake because you think you should be awake all the time and judge yourself when you're sleeping because you think you shouldn't be sleeping?

Or can you just surrender to the way of things,

Which is also a great dose of humility.

Ah,

I'm human too.

Which means you can forgive the humanness in everyone else,

Rather than you pretending to be spiritual and better than everyone else.

Isn't that fun?

As always, thank you Tiger. The word β€œand β€œ is such a powerful word.. Adult children of alcoholics grow up with a mindset that says everything has to be all or nothing. And the word β€œand” allows so much spaciousness. it allows opposing thoughts to exist at the same time. You use the word β€œand β€œin this talk a lot. It’s a word I’m paying attention to these days. πŸ’›βœ¨πŸ˜ŠπŸ’›βœ¨πŸ˜ŠπŸ’›βœ¨πŸ˜ŠπŸ’›
