Before we begin,
Take a moment to set the intention for this practice.
This is a meditation on resentment.
A chance to acknowledge the feelings you've been carrying,
Understand them,
And gently release them.
Resentment often arises when we feel hurt,
Wronged,
Or overlooked.
It can linger in our bodies and minds weighing us down.
However,
Resentment is not bad.
It's your nervous system's way of protecting you.
A signal that something needs attention so it doesn't happen again.
This meditation will guide you to feel your resentment without judgment,
Understand it as a protective response,
And release the heaviness and make space for peace and clarity.
Take a deep breath in and let's begin.
Find a comfortable position.
You can sit or lie down.
And close your eyes and take a moment to let your body soften.
Feel the weight of your body supported by the ground.
And with each breath,
Allow yourself to arrive fully in this moment.
Bring your attention to your feet,
Feeling them touch the floor.
And slowly move your awareness up through your legs,
Your hips,
Your torso,
Your shoulders,
Arms,
And legs.
Arms and hands.
All the way to your head.
Notice any tension or tightness without judgment.
Breathe into those areas and let them soften.
Now imagine roots extending from the soles of your feet deep into the earth,
Anchoring you.
With each inhale,
Draw strength and stability from the earth.
And with each exhale,
Release tension and stress down into the ground.
Now bring to mind the person,
Situation,
Or memory that has caused you resentment.
Don't try to push it away.
Simply acknowledge it.
Notice where in your body you feel this resentment.
Is it a tightness in your chest?
Your stomach?
Your shoulders?
Allow yourself to feel it fully for a moment.
And breathe into it.
Resentment is your nervous system's way of protecting you.
It's your body's signal saying,
I want to protect myself from this happening again.
Resentment is not a flaw.
It's a natural response.
A protective mechanism.
By acknowledging it,
You honor your boundaries and your experience.
Now imagine a warm,
Golden light surrounding your heart.
With every inhale,
Feel it expanding,
Filling you with love,
Compassion,
And understanding.
For yourself,
For the situation,
And even for the protective nature of your resentment.
With every exhale,
Imagine this light carrying away the heaviness,
The tightness,
The emotional weight of resentment.
Watch it dissolve into the air,
Leaving your body lighter and freer.
Picture the resentment as a heavy stone you've been carrying.
Place it gently on the ground in front of you.
And see it dissolve into light.
Feel the weight lift from your shoulders.
You are choosing freedom,
Not because the situation is okay,
But because you deserve peace.
Silently or aloud,
Repeat,
I release what no longer serves me.
I honor my feelings and my protection.
I choose peace over resentment.
I am free.
Feel the truth of these words resonate in your body.
Allow them to fill you with calm,
Clarity,
And compassion.
Take a few final deep breaths,
Noticing how your body feels now.
Lighter,
Softer,
And freer.
Slowly bring your awareness back to your surroundings.
Wiggle your toes and fingers.
Gently open your eyes.
Carry this feeling of release with you through your day,
Remembering that resentment is a natural part of your nervous system protecting you.
And now you have the power to let it go.
