Hello and welcome to this meditation practice that explores the idea of letting go.
We tend to hold on so tightly to things in life,
Seeking a sense of control,
But what happens if we learn to let go of that sense of control?
To let go of our own preconceived expectations?
So if you haven't already,
Go ahead and find a comfortable position.
You can be seated or laying down.
If you choose to sit on the floor,
Consider sitting up on something to give your spine and your hips a bit more space.
Then let yourself get comfortable.
Let your eyes grow heavy and either find a vague spot on the floor,
Or if it's comfortable,
Let your eyes close all the way down.
Let the weight of your body sink into whatever it is that supports you.
And as you begin to settle,
Follow a deep breath in.
As you do,
Allow your entire body to tense.
Squeeze your fingers,
Your toes,
And sigh the breath out and relax.
Follow this two more times,
Inhaling fully,
Tensing your body,
Sighing your breath out through your mouth to relax.
Once more,
On your own,
With your own breath,
And let your breath settle back on its own normal natural.
What does it feel like to be breathing in this moment?
Can you be with your breath all the way from the beginning of an inhale through to the end of the exhale?
Without effort or force,
Simply notice what your breath is doing all on its own.
As you notice your breath,
Begin to observe its rhythm and pace.
Notice its temperature.
Does it feel warm or cool?
Notice its fullness.
Does it feel deep or shallow?
Still without effort,
Without force,
Notice what your breath is doing all on its own.
It's an incredible function.
Our breath doesn't need us to engage with it to keep going.
It holds us.
It carries us.
It supports us.
Every day,
Every night,
When life is a challenge,
When it's a joy,
Our breath knows how to keep going all on its own.
So notice it.
Simply notice and observe.
And if at any point in this practice you notice your mind wander,
Gently bring it back to your breath.
Bring it back to the awareness of your own normal,
Your own natural.
Let go of the ways you thought life would unfold.
The holding of plans or dreams or expectations.
Let it all go.
Save your strength to swim with the tide.
The choice to fight what is here before you now will only result in struggle,
Fear,
And desperate attempts to flee from the very energy you long for.
Let go.
Let it all go.
And flow with the grace that washes through your days,
Whether you receive it gently or with all your quills raised to defend against invaders.
Take this on faith.
The mind may never find the explanations that it seeks,
But you will move forward nonetheless.
Let go.
And the waves crest will carry you to unknown shores,
Beyond your wildest dreams or destinations.
Let it all go.
And find the place of rest and peace and certain transformation.
It's our instinct to fight against the tide.
When you get pulled into a riptide,
Though,
The way out isn't to push back.
It isn't to push against.
It's to swim with.
We have the gift of engaging with life and choosing how we want to respond,
How we want to move forward.
Because we will.
We will move forward one way or another.
Letting go is uncomfortable.
But it's required to come into the fullness of who we are.
We must let go.
We must empower change to come into our own fullness.
Lean in to letting go of the things that don't serve.
What are you holding onto?
What tide are you swimming against?
Are you creating more resistance for yourself?
Or is the tide worth fighting?
Truly worth fighting.
Lean in to letting go of that which doesn't serve.
Once we let go,
We make room for the new.
As we lean in to letting go,
Our power builds.
It's a power that only comes with release.
Lean in to your own power.
Your own innate truth.
As you do,
Ask yourself,
What is it you need to let go of?
What is it you need to release?
Let go of the ways you thought life would unfold.
The holding of plans or dreams or expectations.
Let it all go.
Save your strength to swim with the tide.
The choice to fight what is here before you now will only result in struggle,
Fear,
And desperate attempts to flee from the very energy you long for.
Let go.
Let it all go.
And flow with the grace that washes through your days,
Whether you receive it gently or with all your quills raised to defend against invaders.
Take this on faith.
The mind may never find the explanations that it seeks,
But you will move forward nonetheless.
Let go,
And the wave's crest will carry you to unknown shores,
Beyond your wildest dreams or destinations.
Let it all go,
And find the place of rest and peace and certain transformation.
You can stay here as long as you like,
Meditating and reflecting on what you might be holding on to,
And what you might need to release,
But as you feel ready to move on into the rest of your day,
Gently bring your attention back to your breath,
Back to your own normal,
Your own natural.
Notice as your breath begins to deepen,
Follow a deep breath in,
And sigh it out,
And place both hands over your heart,
One hand on top of the other.
May you find ease in life's uncertainties,
Release from the things that bind,
And relief in your capability to act with the present moment.
Thank you so much for joining this practice.
