Hello and welcome to this Lectio Divina on Psalm 54.
I'm recording outside again,
So please welcome the sounds of nature,
Of life going by,
Maybe of the dog,
As part of this meditation and part of the offering.
And as we begin,
I invite you to come to stillness,
Maybe closing your eyes,
Taking a deeper,
Wider breath.
Begin to become aware of yourself in the space you're in.
Orient yourself to your space,
To what's behind you and around you.
Gather yourself from all the places you've been today and all the ways you've given.
And let yourself be here in your body,
In this space and moment.
Open to receive the gift of these words and their unique and specific offering to you.
I'm going to read the Psalm three times.
And this first reading is simply a way to welcome the words in their fullness,
Without attaching to any in particular.
Psalm 54.
Awaken me,
O blessed healer,
With your holy mercy,
That I might be free of fear.
Hear my prayer,
O holy one,
Give ear to the words of my mouth,
For nagging doubts assail me,
Bringing loneliness and pain.
I remember not the beloved,
So overwhelming are my fears.
Yet,
Behold,
You are my helper,
The upholder of my life.
With you,
I have the strength to face my fears.
Your faithfulness will help me transform them into love.
With boundless confidence,
I abandon myself into your heart.
I give praise to your holy name,
O beloved,
With gratitude and joy.
For you deliver me from my illusions,
And through love my heart opens to wisdom.
On this second reading,
I invite you to notice any words or phrases that capture your attention.
Awaken me,
O blessed healer,
With your holy mercy,
That I might be free of fear.
Hear my prayer,
O holy one,
Give ear to the words of my mouth,
For nagging doubts assail me,
Bringing loneliness and pain.
I remember not the beloved,
So overwhelming are my fears.
Yet,
Behold,
You are my helper,
The upholder of my life.
With you,
I have the strength to face my fears.
Your faithfulness will help me transform them into love.
With boundless confidence,
I abandon myself into your heart.
I give praise to your holy name,
O beloved,
With gratitude and joy.
For you deliver me from my illusions,
And through love my heart opens to wisdom.
And this third reading is an opportunity to welcome the words and phrases that captured your attention,
To go deeper,
To bring you their gift,
Their offering.
To notice how they make you feel,
To notice a response that may rise up within you.
To simply be with them and to welcome them as the gift that they are.
Awaken me,
O blessed healer,
With your holy mercy,
That I might be free of fear.
Hear my prayer,
O holy one,
Give ear to the words of my mouth,
For nagging doubts assail me,
Bringing loneliness and pain.
I remember not the beloved,
So overwhelming are my fears.
Yet behold,
You are my helper,
The upholder of my life.
With you,
I have the strength to face my fears.
Your faithfulness will help me transform them into love.
With boundless confidence,
I abandon myself into your heart.
I give praise to your holy name,
O beloved,
With gratitude and joy.
For you deliver me from my illusions,
And through love my heart opens to wisdom.
May these words continue to offer their gift.
And may you know peace,
Love and great joy.
Amen.
