Welcome to another meditation from The Living Point.
My name is Dr.
Connor Logan.
I'm a doctor of acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
And the music is composed by Trevor Wayne Howard.
Moving on the last meditation,
We're all dealing with a changing day today that most of us,
Or any of us,
Have ever really had to deal with before.
This certainly brings out all different kinds of feelings.
Some of us are scared.
Some of us are angry,
Worried,
Alone.
All of these feelings are correct.
And we're all feeling them to various degrees.
In Chinese medicine,
They would say that the proper expression of emotions in the moment,
And the moments following shortly thereafter,
Are appropriate and needed for healing,
For understanding,
And for getting past,
And moving towards what you can do well,
How you can follow on with quality,
Thoughtful actions.
So with that said,
Let's get comfortable.
Put down our phone.
Turn off the television.
And breathe.
Take a second to check in with yourself.
Maybe move your feet or your knees,
Your shoulders and hands around a little bit so that you feel comfortable in your position,
Whether it be sitting or laying down,
Whatever it is that you're doing.
Just make sure that you can permit yourself the ability to relax.
Continue breathing as you start to focus on the rising and falling of your breath.
You start to allow yourself a reprieve from the rumination,
From the constant conversation.
Breathe in slowly through your nose,
Deep into your belly,
And breathe out.
And do that again.
It's easy to focus on number one,
Especially during times like these,
And I know that those that I take advice with would say,
That's okay.
And it is.
But these times can be difficult.
And I find that I feel best when I think of a neighbor,
When I think of a friend,
A loved one.
There's definitely someone around you that would appreciate you reaching out to them.
And let's do that energetically now.
The first person that comes to mind,
Don't hesitate and let it be that person.
Perhaps you'd like to think of them sitting comfortably or laying down like you are.
Or perhaps they're doing something that you think they do excellently or that makes them happy.
Think of that as vividly as you can.
With each breath in,
Breathe in clear,
Cool energy,
And with each breath out,
Send it to them.
And in your mind's eye,
Watch your vision of them improve and take note how it does.
Perhaps the scene becomes more vibrant,
Like changing the filter to vivid on the photo.
Or perhaps their smile changes.
Or you see them become more relaxed.
Let's focus here with a few concerted breaths in and out as we focus on them.
And with each breath in,
Breathe in clear,
Cool energy,
And with each breath out,
Send it to them.
Start to breathe normally,
But keep this vision fresh and allow the way that this feels to affect everyone you interact with during the day.
How do you think it might affect the way you greet someone?
What you say to the mailman if they pass you your package?
What will happen the next time you come to a stop sign and other cars want to go?
What happens when you're waiting in line to make a purchase?
Breathe in the last few couple breaths as you really fuse this feeling into how you want to treat others.
And I always like to remember a quote from Plato who says,
And I may be paraphrasing,
Be kind to each other because we are all fighting our own battles.
Thank you for listening.
Look up when you're walking.
Smile to those that you meet.
And be pleasant and present.
And enjoy the feelings that a thoughtful mind exude.
