This is a recording of a written reflection that I wrote at just 5 months postpartum. It was after the experience of carrying and birthing my first child. Motherhood, especially the early days, can be incredibly isolating. We used to practice the saying 'it takes a village'. Now we send women home with a newborn and leave them to figure it out on their own. My hope is that this reflective essay brings any new mother who may feel alone, a sense of connection and understanding.
