I recently had an accident that resulted in a serious injury and surgery on my hand,
Which caused a fair bit of nerve pain.
It's with me all the time,
And I've had to learn some ways to cope with the pain.
And meditation is one thing that has really helped.
So for anyone who's experiencing physical,
Emotional,
Mental,
Or spiritual pain,
First of all,
I have tremendous empathy and compassion for you.
And I wanted to share some of the things that I've been doing that have really provided some relief.
One very special exercise that I want to share with you that has been transformative is this.
When you have pain,
Sometimes it seems like it's never ending.
It's overwhelming,
And you feel like you're never going to get a grip on it,
Get a handle on it.
And a really wonderful metaphor that can help is to imagine the pain as a jar of toothpicks.
So visualize a jar of toothpicks that has 500 toothpicks in it.
And I want you all just to imagine that your pain is equivalent to those 500 toothpicks in a jar.
And every day,
I want you to imagine and picture that another toothpick is leaving the jar one by one.
I invite you all to close your eyes.
Now let's all take in a nice deep breath right in now.
In through the nose,
And breathe out slowly and evenly through your nose or mouth,
Whatever feels more comfortable.
And one more beautiful inhale right in,
Holding it for a moment at the top,
And then breathing out slowly and letting it all go.
So now picture the jar of toothpicks with only 400 toothpicks inside of it,
And see your pain lessening more and more,
Further and further.
Now begin by taking in another deep breath right in through your nose,
Holding it at the top,
Holding it for a few breaths,
And then release it,
Exhaling slowly and evenly in a longer exhale,
Letting everything go.
One more time now,
Let's take in a deep cleansing breath in through the nose,
And then out through the nose or mouth,
Whatever you feel is more comfortable.
Imagining now,
Visualizing now,
That there are only 300 toothpicks in the jar,
And the pain is lighter,
Lessening,
Less pain,
More comfort.
Let's breathe here,
Taking in a beautiful inhale,
Breathing in peace and healing,
And breathing out all the residual pain,
Letting it go,
Releasing it all from your body more and more.
And once again,
Enjoying to the full that there is less pain,
More comfort,
And breathe it all out,
Releasing it,
Letting it go.
And now if you will,
I want you to imagine that toothpick jar has only 200 toothpicks in it.
Let's all take in a deep healing breath right here,
Breathing out very slowly and evenly,
Letting go of more of that pain that is not wanted,
Not a welcome guest in your body,
And you're releasing it and letting it all go.
Visualizing the toothpick jar now with only 100 toothpicks in it,
So much less pain than before.
And even if you're not there yet,
I want you to lean into this image,
This metaphor,
Because this will be the case for you.
And this is a wonderful goal to strive for.
Only 50 toothpicks in the jar now,
Breathing in deeply,
Breathing out slowly and evenly,
Letting it all go,
Sending yourself a hug and beautiful healing vibes.
Now imagine that there are no more toothpicks left in the jar,
No more pain,
Breathing in,
Breathing out,
Releasing all of the residual pain.
And enjoy that the toothpick jar now is empty.
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
And feel at peace knowing that the toothpick jar is completely empty now.
And all the toothpicks representing all of the pain are now gone.
And that is where you're going to be very soon.
You will have no more pain.
So keep visualizing that empty jar and the freedom that will come when you are free from pain.
Whenever you're ready,
Just open your eyes and close them again if you're not quite ready to enter the room.
Open your eyes again,
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes,
Stretch and yawn,
And enjoy this feeling to the full.
You are very well on your way to good health,
Vitality,
And well-being,
Sending you prayers and healing light.
For the Bliss Minute,
I'm Judy Liebrach,
Reminding you all to take one step closer to finding your bliss.
