Based on the teachings of Adyashanti, this practice can be used alone or as a companion to his writings on "the direct way" of awakening. This particular practice draws from his teachings on "Abiding as the Formless Awareness of Being." The words 'awareness' and 'being' can be used interchangeably here. The practice invites you to notice the clear space of awareness, which can lead to awakening AS awareness. No strain or effort is required here. Simply relax into the words, and enjoy!

Hello,

Dear friends.

This is a mini practice on abiding as the formless awareness of being.

And for this practice,

You can think of awareness and being as interchangeable words.

Because the truth of your being is open,

Spacious awareness.

Begin by relaxing into your space.

There is no effort needed here.

There's nothing you're trying to accomplish.

Just let yourself be at ease.

And take a moment to notice the already existing silence of being.

Listen to the sounds around you,

The sounds behind those sounds,

And the silence behind all of the sounds,

The silence of your being.

And with heartfelt devotion and ease,

Without referring to a thought or image or an idea to describe who you are,

Simply be the now and already existing presence of awareness.

The presence of awareness that is without thought,

Without image,

Without ego.

And rest there,

Free of speculation,

Free of philosophizing,

Free of spiritual ideas,

As resting in unconditioned awareness.

When you feel yourself striving to mentally grasp or understand,

Just release that effort.

Relax and abide,

Free of concept,

Resting in your naturally clear and unborn being.

Open and relax.

If it helps,

You can say those words with the inhalation and the exhalation,

Open,

Relax.

Relaxing into your true nature.

The innate presence of awareness is the formless and aware aspect of being.

Awareness is so inherent to being,

That's the very being of being.

You are pure awareness.

Be well,

My friend.
