Hello friend,

Thank you for joining me for showing up for yourself.

Today's meditation will be a tool you can access anytime you're feeling some overwhelm,

Anxious,

And needing to create some safety in your nervous system.

In order for your system to feel safety,

Sometimes it needs a little more information and clarity.

If you better understand the context,

Give yourself choice,

And feel connection to yourself or someone safe,

It can help to move through the discomfort or fear you may be feeling.

I invite you to find a comfortable position for your body today.

Taking a moment to look around your space,

To orient yourself,

Maybe noticing something you haven't noticed before.

When you feel ready,

I welcome you to soften your gaze or close your eyes if that feels safe for you today.

I invite you to just take a moment to start tuning into your senses,

Noticing your breath,

Noticing what you can hear,

Noticing the ground beneath you here to support you.

I invite you to think of a situation that felt challenging for you,

Not something that may feel overwhelming,

But something that you found difficult and wished you had more support at the time to get through.

When you think of that moment,

Situation,

I just want you to notice what sensations that brings up for you in your body.

Just feeling gently into how you felt in that moment.

Noticing where it shows up and how it feels.

Keeping that feeling in your body,

I invite you to explore the following possibilities.

Let's explore context.

Why are you here?

What benefits are there to staying?

Is there anybody that you believe needs you to be here?

Do you need to be here?

As you explore those possibilities,

I just invite you to notice if you feel anything shift in your system.

Next,

Let's explore choice.

What would happen if you chose to leave?

What would happen if you chose not to come at all?

What if you choose to stay and find yourself glad that you did?

What if you choose to stay for the benefits despite the challenges?

What if you choose to stay and end up regretting it?

Again,

I just invite you to notice if you feel anything shift in your system as you explore these possibilities.

Finally,

We're going to explore connection.

Am I connected to my experience?

What am I feeling in my body right now?

How would it feel if I stepped away for a moment to check in with how I'm doing?

Is there someone safe I could invite to join me for difficult situations like this?

Is there someone safe I could call right now?

Would I feel safer if I let someone know how I'm feeling before coming or after leaving?

Noticing if you feel anything shift in your system as you explore those possibilities.

Just taking a moment for further exploration if you'd like,

Or simply taking a few slow mindful breaths to integrate.

If you haven't done so already,

I invite you to begin to notice your breath.

To notice the ground beneath you,

What you hear in the room around you.

Slowly taking your awareness from inside your body to outside your body.

When you're ready,

Gently opening your eyes and taking in the space around you.

Coming back into the here and now.

Knowing that you can access this tool anytime you want,

You can give yourself the gift of nervous system regulation by exploring context,

Choice,

And connection.
