You are your own guru.
Many of us look outside of us in the dark night of the soul when we're overwhelmed,
Seeking answers,
And feel lost and alone.
We seek and defer our power to those outside of us.
Guru is a very loaded term,
And for some,
Guru is synonymous to spiritual teachers.
But I think we have to be very mindful when we use the word guru in modern day society.
You see,
Traditionally,
Gurus in ancient India took wisdom and passed it from one guru to one disciple.
It was a sacred bond where wisdom was being shared in small groups or individually.
As you can tell,
Modern day society is quite different with information being available on all social media platforms and on the internet.
Spiritual teachers,
If they have the right platform,
Can create a movement.
And it's really important to not consider spiritual teachers in the modern day form as gurus.
Many people believe guru is that one end all be all person where we can defer our judgment and our ability to think for ourselves because there's someone who's further evolved than us who has the answers.
They are the path.
But as we forget,
Each individual is simply a human being first.
We have human tendencies,
We are going through our own spiritual journey.
We have the confines of our own ego that we're transcending.
And so each individual is capable of making mistakes.
A true spiritual teacher will guide you that the wisdom and the answers that you seek are not within them.
The answers are within you.
So it gets tricky with believing in modern day gurus because if we're giving away our power,
Then we're just doing ourselves a disservice in our journey.
In Kundalini Yoga,
We start with a chant called Adi Mantra.
It goes,
Ong namo gurudev namo.
This is translated into I bow to the divine teacher within me.
You see within you beyond your human personality is the connection of a higher consciousness,
A higher self,
The part of you that is connected to the divine.
And when we get still and connect to that voice,
All the answers are within that realm and every infinite possibility is in that realm.
Now that infinite wisdom may guide you to a podcast,
A book,
A person.
But let's not mistake that that is not your guru.
Many individuals in modern day are spiritual teachers because they have authentically chosen to show up to be a vessel for divine wisdom to flow through to them,
To serve others.
One spiritual teacher that you resonate with today may no longer be the teacher for you tomorrow.
As we evolve,
Grow and go on our journey,
We go through different phases of consciousness.
So maybe this wisdom doesn't resonate with you right now.
That doesn't make it right or wrong.
It just is.
And for others,
This may be a light bulb that I am the guru.
Just be careful when you're in the realm of seeking wisdom.
You're not giving up your power.
You're seeking wisdom to help you connect to your inner truth,
Your divinity,
Your divine teacher above anything else.
Remember,
There's so much beauty from the light workers that are working in the world right now.
However,
Above all,
They are not your guru,
I am not your guru.
You are your own guru.
