Hey,

Hey,

Welcome to Your Best Podcast.

My name is Tee Marie,

Your best life coach,

And today we're talking about the paths to personal development.

Listen,

There are so many paths.

If you love personal growth and personal development as much as I do,

You know that there are so many paths to get better in life.

There are so many ways that we can just discover deeper feelings about ourselves,

Deeper characteristics and so on.

Like gene keys,

Which we talked about in episode one.

But what I want to talk to you today about is really just the overall kind of what some of those things are,

Why they are effective and how we can kind of think about these things going forward.

It can be confusing,

Especially in this day and age where we have all kinds of wonderful and different types of information coming at us.

So let's just break this down a little bit real quick.

So what are some different paths to personal development or personal growth or even self-help as it's called in some circles?

Well,

Sometimes we want to kind of check things out mentally,

Like really check things out mentally.

And what that means is how are we thinking about things?

What are our processes for really kind of digesting information,

Thinking about going about things?

Like what are the thoughts that we have when we enter into new things?

How do we feel about change?

How do we feel about expanding our awareness?

How do we feel about learning new things?

How do we feel about broadening our horizons?

So one of the paths is really looking at things mentally,

Our mindset,

Our thought,

Our processing of information.

And I'm telling you,

That whole thing is something within itself,

Like just really kind of looking at our thoughts.

Then we've got our emotional world,

Right?

So our emotional world is like,

How are we feeling about things?

What are some things that we have felt in the past that we now kind of feel are part of our identity or part of our story,

But really it's just an emotional choice that we made a long time ago?

What's our emotional world like?

Are we predominantly happy,

Predominantly sad,

Mostly angry,

Usually frustrated?

There's a whole emotional world that's going on.

And so personal growth and development,

There's a path that leads us to really look at emotions and how we're feeling and sometimes even why.

Then there's the practical road to personal development.

And that has a lot to do with really processes,

Systems,

Ways,

How to do things in a faster way,

A better way.

Better meaning it can get your results faster or it can make you feel better along the way,

Or you can do more in less time or with less money.

Usually the practical route is all about how to,

Steps,

Ways,

Teachings,

Systems that help us to live a better life.

And then there are various teachings.

There are various teaching from various teachers.

There are methods that have been developed like mine.

Over the course of 25 years in coaching myself and clients,

I developed my own method and that is transformation made easy through joy.

That method is my studies,

My personal experience and what I know to be true with science,

Personal development and spirituality and creativity,

Mixing it all up and developing a method or a way that I teach,

Guide and coach.

And there are all kinds of methods out there based on particular thought leaders,

Speakers,

Teachers,

And methods or bodies of doing things amongst themselves,

Right?

So we've got all kinds of paths,

These paths to personal development.

It's exciting and it can be confusing too,

Let's be honest.

So why would we even care about this,

Right?

Why does this matter?

Why should we think about the way we think?

Why should we care about the way we feel?

Why should we try to learn new things?

I mean,

Don't we just develop a system anyway?

The truth is,

Yeah.

Did you know that unless we do something about it,

A lot of our lives are just us automatically reacting to things?

I know it's hard to believe,

But the reason is that our beautiful,

Wondrous,

Magnificent brain,

And this is scientifically proven,

Our brain is constantly storing information based off of our experiences.

Some things we deem as good and some things we deem as bad.

Anything we deem as bad,

We usually try to avoid going forward.

Our brain is the supercomputer that is always trying to get us the fastest ways,

The easiest ways,

The most automatic ways for us to go about living our life.

And so it's very easy for us,

Especially when we do certain repeated tasks in our lives,

Like a repeated schedule,

Wake up,

Get ready,

Maybe make breakfast for the family or for kids or walk the dog or cat.

Well,

Do you walk your cat?

But you see what I'm saying?

We go through these things because we deem it as good to have a schedule,

Let's say.

Pretty soon,

That schedule,

That way of being becomes a habit.

And then we start habitually living our lives.

Take this for example.

Do you like chocolate or vanilla?

If you were quick to answer,

Then you can ask yourself,

Well,

Was that a habitual just knee-jerk reaction?

Have you tried the other flavor before or have you tried the other flavor since you were a kid or when you originally decided which you liked better?

Surprise,

Here's something.

Oftentimes we haven't.

That first time that we engaged with either chocolate or vanilla,

We made a choice.

And from then on,

We kind of know our answer.

And so we end up subconsciously,

Unconsciously living our lives.

So one of the reasons why we want to explore different paths and be open to different paths and understand there are different paths to self-growth,

Personal development,

Is because it really does open up our way of living,

Our experiences,

Our relationships,

And so much more.

So I've used new systems throughout my life.

And like I explained,

I've also developed a method,

A method of changing,

Of becoming better,

Of receiving information.

And that's because I find that not only with myself in my own life,

But with family members,

With clients,

We need to upgrade.

We need to upgrade.

And needing to upgrade isn't bad or wrong.

It's actually very natural.

If we open up our consciousness,

If we open up our awareness to living,

Meaning to being if we go from doing things subconsciously and unconsciously,

And we really open up to what is possible every once in a while at first,

And then pretty soon more and more,

We find that we actually do need to upgrade.

We need to upgrade our habits.

We need to upgrade our decision-making.

We need to upgrade as we move along each stage in life.

Because as y'all know,

What may have worked when we were kids doesn't really work anymore when we're teenagers.

And then what worked when we were teenagers doesn't always work when we're in college.

And we all know the way we lived when we were in college certainly doesn't work for our homes,

Our cleanliness,

And our sleep cycles as we become adults and so on.

So right now we're talking about,

Of course,

The basic constructs of life that we are all familiar with.

But this also applies when we're looking to do bigger things in our life,

Like earn more money,

Achieve a new career,

Change our physical bodies,

Maybe to stronger or more flexible or thinner or have more stamina,

Increase our balance,

Any of these things.

Or if we're trying to be more loving,

Be more forgiving,

Be more positive,

Be more understanding,

And so on.

So my clients,

As I've walked them through my method of transformation,

Through different paths to personal development,

Whether it be mental,

Emotional,

Physical,

Practical,

Spiritual,

Or touching on various teachings that speak directly to them,

What they have found is that now emotions can be regulated or even chosen in life.

Meaning if you identify or some of my clients have identified as one particular emotion and then soon enough,

They're able to discover that they can access either more of their emotions or they actually aren't just that one type of emotional person.

They can control or move past that initial emotional response they once did.

It's really exciting.

And then there are other breakthroughs like really being able to step into the habits and the ways of success.

Personal development paths are paths to success.

My clients have seen that as we work together,

They're able to develop habits that help them succeed at whatever it is that they are wanting to do.

And the truth is there are paths to success.

Even opening up our thinking to realize that is a wonderful development.

It's a wonderful growth because sometimes we just feel like we're left out of the success loop,

That it's not possible for us.

That it's going to be too hard or we're too late,

Too old,

Too young,

Too thin,

Too fat,

Too tall,

Too short,

Too whatever.

But the truth is that whatever success we're after in life,

Whether it is general life success,

Feeling happy,

Feeling satisfied with life,

Being able to express and enjoy what you're about,

What you're doing,

The choices that you're making.

Or whether it's business success,

Being able to succeed in business and also have a full life,

Not be working around the clock and always just a slave to whatever's happening with the business.

Or whether it's spiritual success,

Feeling grounded in your faith walk and intimate with God,

Able to really access a rich and deep,

Nonjudgmental,

Open experience that is enriching and alive.

Or health success,

Being able to know vibrancy,

Vitality,

Energy,

Health,

Joy,

Rejuvenation in all shapes,

Sizes,

And having wonderful relationships with food and physicality and so on.

All of these things in our lives,

Financial too,

Relationships too,

They have paths,

They have recipes.

There are ways to be and act and think and do and behave that help us to capture those things,

Experience them,

And ultimately be them.

So when it comes to paths to personal development,

Yeah,

There are many.

Yeah,

We will need different things throughout the stages of our lives.

Yeah,

We can use certain paths to personal development for certain results.

And yeah,

It is always best to get guidance throughout this process.

And I believe we all know that,

Right?

That's why we'll usually reach for a self-help book,

Listen to a podcast like this one,

Watch something on YouTube,

Seek out that person that inspires us.

And that's why we get coaching.

I've been coaching for over 25 years and I also get coaching myself because having a to help us understand which path is best at any given time,

Based on any given goal and where we're at in our lives,

Help us walk through the path so that we can really stay the course,

Understand what we're doing,

Make the right choices,

Use the personal development path in the right way.

There's so many wonderful nuances.

And as a coach,

I guide my clients through that because it's powerful,

It's wonderful,

It's effective,

It saves time and it yields results.

If you are someone that is,

You know,

Just maybe you're dabbling,

Right?

Maybe you're just educating yourself.

Like I was once years ago,

Years and years ago,

I just knew I wanted to get better.

I just knew I wanted to have more.

I knew that I wanted to think different than the people right around me.

And so I was seeking information.

I want to applaud you.

I think that it's wonderful that you're doing that.

And I want to encourage you to keep going,

To subscribe to this podcast,

To follow and to seek out additional information.

And when you're ready,

Reach out to get guidance,

To get coached,

To take the next steps so that you can be supported.

I'll share something with you.

Back in the day when I first started,

There were a few ways of thinking that were getting in my way from having it be a really wonderful experience.

One was that I believed that getting help was somehow not cool,

Not good,

Not for me,

Going to be too expensive.

And if you're in that thought process,

I see you,

I hear you,

I understand you.

I felt that way too back in the day.

But as I've gone on,

I'm telling you,

Getting help is wonderful.

And so I applaud you for listening to this podcast and I applaud you for reaching out for those books and I applaud you for continuing to learn.

And I encourage you to keep on on this path because there are so many wonderful ways for us to have greater happiness,

Joy,

Health,

Success in our business,

A more enriching spiritual life.

So just keep on doing what you're doing.

And when you're ready to get more information,

To get help with a coach,

With specific guidance,

To have your questions answered,

To be encouraged or held accountable,

Definitely reach out.

I'd love to hear from you.
