This meditation focuses on an ancient energy system in the body,

The chakras.

There are seven chakra energy centers in the body,

All contributing to your well-being.

Some of our chakras may not open all the way or even be near closed,

While others are overactive.

If the chakras are not balanced,

Peace within the self cannot be achieved.

During this meditation,

We will focus on cleansing and opening each chakra,

Bringing balance to our energy centers.

Take a moment to settle into a comfortable seated position with either your bottom or your feet rooted to the ground.

Keep your back straight to channel positive energy and rest your hands on your thighs.

Gently close your eyes.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and sigh it out.

Breathe in again as deeply as you can,

Filling your chest,

Your ribs,

Your stomach,

Holding that breath for just a moment and then sighing it out completely.

Focus on releasing any tension that you might hold in your body.

Start at the crown of your head,

Focusing on releasing any tension and energy from each part of your body down to your feet,

Letting your breath fill you with life and letting your out-breath take away any pain or tightness that you find.

We will start by focusing on the root chakra,

Maladhahara,

Which is located at the base of your body.

The color is red and the sound is lam.

This chakra is based on being physically aware and being comfortable in situations.

It is the grounding chakra.

When this chakra is open,

You will feel balanced,

Stable,

Secure.

Feeling physically connected to your body will help you feel less anxious.

To open the chakra,

Become aware of your connection with the earth through your bottom or your feet if you're seated in a chair.

Simply chant,

Lam.

Let your body relax,

Thinking about the meaning of this chakra in your life.

Imagine a closed red flower.

Imagine a powerful energy radiating from the flower.

It slowly opens,

Showing bright red petals full of energy.

The sacral chakra,

Svarisrana,

Is located at the sacral bone in your lower back.

The color is orange and the sound is vam.

This chakra deals with feelings,

Creativity,

And your ability to adapt to change.

When it is open,

You are passionate,

Emotional,

Outgoing.

If it is closed,

You may be unemotional or detached.

Silently chant the sound,

Vam.

Let your body relax and think of the meaning of this chakra in your life.

Imagine someone has dropped a large,

Beautiful diamond in a lake.

Focus all of your attention on seeing the diamond below the clear,

Still water.

As other thoughts come,

Let them go.

Focus on the flow of energy like water as you focus on the diamond.

The solar plexus chakra,

Manipura,

Which is located at your navel,

The color is yellow and the sound is vam.

This chakra encircles confidence.

When this chakra is open,

You feel in control and have a strong sense of dignity.

And when it's closed,

You tend to be indecisive and passive.

Silently chant the sound,

Vam.

Focus on this chakra and what it means in your life.

Imagine you are sitting next to a warm,

Great fire.

Place any thoughts that don't serve you on sticks.

Place these sticks one by one in the fire to be carried away as ashes.

Let go of the things that do not serve you.

The heart chakra,

Anahata,

Is located at your heart.

The color is green and the sound is vam.

This chakra is all about love and caring.

And when it is open,

You are friendly and caring.

And when it is closed,

You may be cold,

Unfriendly,

Untrusting.

Our hearts hold on to the tremors of past traumas,

So we may build walls to protect our heart.

This can leave us numb.

Silently chant the sound,

Yam.

Relax your body and think about the meaning of this chakra in your life.

Let your breath into your heart center.

Dissolve any tension or pain you feel there with each breath.

Imagine with each nourishing breath you are wiping away any dirt or dust covering your heart.

Imagine your breath is inhaling into your heart and exhaling from your heart.

And feel your heart soften.

The throat chakra,

Vitsuri,

Is located at your throat.

The color is light blue and the sound is ham.

When this chakra is open,

You are able to express yourself and communicate well.

If it is underactive,

You may not speak much and may find it hard to express your thoughts and feelings.

If it is closed,

You may lie to others and may talk too much or not listen to others.

Silently chant the sound,

Ham,

And think about the meaning of this chakra in your life.

Imagine a healing green light from your heart chakra moving up your spine to the throat where it becomes a beautiful sky blue.

Breathe in blue light,

Fill your lungs,

And let your throat open wide.

Silently sing ham.

The third eye chakra,

Ana,

Is located at your forehead between your eyebrows.

The color is indigo and the sound is am.

This chakra relates to insight.

When it is open,

You dream a lot and you can achieve your goals.

When it is underactive,

You rely on others to think for you and you may feel confused.

If it is overactive,

You may spend time daydreaming.

Silently chant the sound,

Am,

And relax the third eye in your forehead.

Think of this chakra's meaning in your life.

Visualize a goal you have and imagine it in great detail using all your senses.

How does the goal look,

Sound,

Smell,

Taste,

Feel?

Imagine your goal as if it is true for you today.

Find positive energy and belief toward your goal.

The crown chakra,

Sastrara,

Is located at the crown of your head.

The color is purple and the sound is am.

This is the final and most spiritual chakra.

It is your wisdom and your connection to the universe.

When it is open,

You lose prejudice and you feel more connected to the universe.

If it is underactive,

You might be rigid in your thoughts.

And if it is overactive,

You may over-intellectualize things or even ignore the needs of your own body.

Silently chant the sound,

Am,

Remain totally relaxed and keep your mind at peace.

Focus on the crown chakra.

Imagine you have a window in the crown of your head.

Feel a great white light from the sky pouring in through this window in the crown of your head.

Feel this light energy traveling down your spinal column all the way to your root and then slowly back up again.

Perhaps you feel lighter or even like you are floating.

We have now cleansed each chakra and have moved toward greater energy balance.

When you are ready,

Come back to your breathing.

Focus on the air moving in and out through your nose and filling your body and slowly releasing.

Thank yourself for making time for your meditation practice today.

Feel gratitude for anyone who practiced beside you.

Slowly become aware of the room around you and when you are ready,

Gently open your eyes.

I wish you a beautiful day.

Namaste.
