Parents Meditation
I am delighted to share with you this compassionate meditation and affirmation for parents, caregivers and guardians. Thank you for your work and for showing up everyday.
Transcript
Welcome parents,
Caregivers,
And loved ones to the very sweet,
Bright,
And innocent ones that we call children that are present in our lives.
Take a moment to have a seat in a cross-legged position.
Pull your sitting bones apart,
Close your eyes,
And anchor your tailbone into the earth.
Extend long through your spine,
Put your shoulders down and onto your back body.
Allow the energy to extend out of the crown of your head as you lengthen the back of your neck.
Inhale deeply through your nose,
Allowing your upper body to open.
Feel your belly expand and soften.
And exhale slowly and deeply through your nose,
Allowing your lower body to become heavy and rooted into the earth.
Continue inhaling slowly and deeply to expand and soften,
And continue exhaling slowly and deeply to root into the earth and center yourself.
As you continue to focus your attention on your breathing,
Feel the tension soften across your brow as you relax those gaze,
Keeping your eyes closed.
Allow the stiffness along the muscles of the hips to relax and melt the lower body into the earth.
Open the jaw and allow the muscles of the chest to open as you melt your shoulders down and back onto your body.
Continue breathing at your own slow,
Steady,
And purposeful pace.
Begin to turn your attention towards your inhalations and feel that cool air entering your nose and making its way into your heart.
Feel that cool breath of life force and prana gently swirling around in the chambers of your heart,
Removing any stagnation or blockages that might be present.
As this fresh life force and breath gently swirls about in your heart,
Feel your heart becoming more buoyant,
More light,
And filled with gratitude as the armor of the day is slowly and very gently blown away through the breath.
As your heart begins to lighten and open,
Now turn your attention onto your exhalations,
Maintaining slow,
Steady,
And purposeful exhalations through the nose,
Releasing that warm air,
Releasing any stagnation,
Any of those blockages from the heart.
As you exhale,
Feel your lower body rooting into the earth more strongly.
Feel that tightness in the low back dissipate with every exhale as you root deeper and deeper into the earth.
And notice that with every exhalation,
Although the heart is light and buoyant,
You feel the more strongly tethered connection to the heart in your physical body through the exhalation.
Feel the connection of the heart being anchored into your physical body,
Allowing you to feel your heart more strongly.
Now that the heart is open and buoyant,
Yet tethered and connected to our physical being,
Bring your attention to your heart and feel the lightness and the joy that we've just cultivated and opened up and made space for within the heart.
And see that lightness and that gratitude and that joy begin to circulate throughout your entire being,
From the tips of your toes,
Your toenails,
To your fingernails,
And even through the strands of each follicle of hair on your head.
As this light is pumped through your body and pulsating through your blood,
Feel this lightness and this gratitude dissolving the armor of the day,
Dissolving the tension of the day.
See your entire being glowing with this divine light of gratitude and joy.
And with an open heart,
Receive this affirmation.
As a parent or a guardian of a child,
I step fully into the role of a teacher and a student.
I oversee and take an active role in the evolution of another being's soul.
And I embody humility and grace,
Which teaches me that this beautiful soul plays a vital part in the evolution of my own soul.
I have faith in my abilities as a teacher because I trust in my ability as a student to learn.
I am reminded that on this journey,
The most important relationship that I model for my child is my relationship with myself.
This relationship with myself is the foundation of the relationship that I build with my child.
And when my child sees me trusting myself and embodying grace,
Love,
Compassion,
And vulnerability,
They learn to do the same.
Through my children,
I receive my healing.
And as I give myself permission to live my healing in front of them with grace and vulnerability,
I teach them to trust,
I teach them how to hold space for their own healing and how to connect.
As a parent,
The most important lesson that I can embody and teach my children is that,
Yes,
My child,
You are worthy of my love,
Compassion,
Trust,
And vulnerability.
And more importantly,
So too are you worthy of your own love,
Compassion,
Trust,
And vulnerability.
I show up for my children when I show up for myself.
Take a moment to integrate this affirmation into your being.
And upon integration of this message and as you are ready,
Begin to focus your attention now on having received that affirmation in your heart,
Feeling that affirmation moving through that light in your heart and throughout your body.
Bow to yourself,
Bow to your heart for opening,
Give your gratitude and thanks,
And begin to turn your attention back onto your breath,
Paying close attention to the inhalation and the exhalation,
Maintaining slow,
Deep,
And steady breaths.
Gently begin to focus your attention on the sounds surrounding you in the room and on the sensations present in your body to bring yourself back into the present moment.
Once you have tapped into your surroundings once again,
Brought yourself back into your body,
You can slowly open your eyes.
Bow to yourself once more with gratitude and compassion.
Namaste.
