Did you know that there are butterflies who live in your tummy?

They are the nicest butterflies and they love you so much.

They're there to help show you how you are feeling.

If you are feeling nervous,

They move around really fast.

And if you're feeling excited,

They jump up and down.

And when you're sad,

They move really slowly.

When we are feeling a whole bunch of things all at the same time,

Our butterflies jump,

Move and dance and shake all over the place.

Our butterflies move with our breath,

And they love learning new ways to dance.

They will dance however it is that you tell them to,

Because they're your butterflies.

Today,

We are going to teach our butterflies the Lazy Eight Dance.

The Lazy Eight Dance is good for times when you are feeling a big feeling soup,

Which means you are feeling so many feelings all at the same time.

Feeling soup feels like the feeling of too much.

When there are too many feelings all at once,

We can do the Lazy Eight Dance to come back to our big hearts.

Are you ready?

Picture the number eight in your head.

Now today,

The number eight is feeling very lazy.

So instead of standing straight up and down,

Number eight is lying on its side.

What a lazy eight.

Now pick your favorite butterfly out of your tummy.

What color is your favorite butterfly?

What does it look like?

Can you name your butterfly?

Now tell that butterfly to go to the middle of your lazy eight.

This is the butterfly's home.

Take a deep breath in and tell the butterfly to fly along one of the circles of the eight and come right back to home.

And as you let the air out of your tummy,

Tell the butterfly to circle around the other side of the eight and come back to home.

Good.

Let's try it again.

Breathe in and the butterfly flies around one of the lazy eight circles and comes back to home.

Breathe out and it flies around the other side of the circle and comes back to home.

Let's try it again.

Breathe in,

Circle,

Home.

Breathe out,

Circle,

Home.

Breathe in,

Circle,

Home.

Breathe out,

Circle,

Home.

You are very good at lazy eight butterfly breathing.

Let's do it again.

Breathe in,

Circle,

Home.

Breathe out,

Circle,

Home.

Breathe in,

Circle,

Home.

Breathe out,

Circle,

Home.

As you do your lazy eight butterfly breathing,

The other butterflies in your tummy join in the dance.

One by one,

Butterflies calm down.

Breathe in,

Circle,

Home.

Breathe out,

Circle,

Home.

Until all of the butterflies have joined in the dance and you have come back to your big heart.

Put your hands in your heart.

You have come back to your strong tree roots.

Feel your feet firmly planted on the ground.

Breathe in,

Circle,

Home.

Breathe out,

Circle,

Home.

Lazy eight butterfly breathing is always here for you.

When you feel big too much feelings and your butterflies are jumping and shaking and dancing all over the place,

This is the perfect time to show your butterflies the lazy eight dance.

I love you and I love your butterflies and I love your big heart so much.
