Hi,
It's me Tess from The Big Heart Journey,
And I'm just so happy to see you.
Did you know that one of my favorite parts of the whole day is getting to see you?
And today we're going to talk about a really big feeling.
And that feeling is the feeling of being anxious.
Have you ever felt anxious before?
I know that when I feel anxious,
It's sort of a feeling that takes over my whole entire body.
Is that how it feels to you?
Yeah,
And sometimes it makes my heart beat fast,
And I feel sweaty,
And my tummy hurts,
And my head hurts.
It's like everything in my whole body hurts when I feel anxious.
Where do you feel anxious in your body?
Today,
I want to share with you a special place that I go when I have the feeling of anxiety.
So first,
Let's start by feeling where you feel anxiety inside of your body.
So when you're anxious,
Where does that feeling live?
And when you find it,
Can you take one hand and put it on top of that place inside of your body?
For me right now,
My anxiety lives sort of right above my heart and right below my throat.
And when your hand is on that place where your anxiety lives,
Just notice it.
How does it feel?
If your anxiety was a color,
What color would it be?
What shape would it be?
Now I want you to imagine pulling your hand away from your body,
And the anxiety is actually stuck to your hand.
And when you hold that hand out in front of you,
You notice that your anxiety is actually a little creature.
And it might be something that looks more like a person,
Or it might look like a monster,
Or an animal,
Or a mixture of all sorts of things.
It might look like an alien.
It might have one eye or four legs.
It might have the color purple on the top of it.
It might be fuzzy.
It might be sharp.
It might be whatever you want to make it.
So what does your anxiety look like when you hold it out in front of you?
I'm going to give you a minute and some music to picture your anxiety.
Once you have a really good picture of your anxiety,
Take a big deep breath,
Let it out,
And hold out your hand.
And imagine that your anxiety is going to take you by the hand,
And you are going to start walking,
You and your anxiety beside each other.
And imagine that you're walking down a beautiful path,
And along the path there are all sorts of really pretty flowers and butterflies,
And above you is a big blue sky.
You can feel the sun shining down on you as you walk,
And you can feel what your toes feel like as they move,
As they walk beside this feeling of anxiety.
And you can feel an excited feeling in your heart,
Because you know that you're going somewhere really special.
This might be the most special place in the whole world,
And you're going to take your friend anxiety with you.
And as you walk towards this very,
Very special place,
Imagine that you feel like you have this little friend who might need some support,
And you get to give your anxiety a little bit of love today.
So that's why you want to take your anxiety to this very,
Very special place.
And as you're walking,
You can notice yourself getting closer and closer to this very special place.
And as you go up the next hill,
You know that this very,
Very special place is going to be right on the other side of the hill.
And as you get up over the edge of the hill,
You look down and there is a beautiful door.
And this door is right on a great,
Big,
Beautiful heart.
And you know that this is your heart.
This is your very special big heart room.
And this big heart room lives inside of you every single day.
And as you walk towards your big heart room,
You start to feel more and more excited.
You start to feel your body filling up with big feelings of really feeling like yourself.
Like you know those moments when you just laugh and you feel really like you.
Those moments when you're not thinking too much,
When you feel free and fun.
As you get closer and closer to your big heart room,
You feel more and more like that.
And you can tell that your friend anxiety beside you is starting to feel a little bit better too.
And you get up to this big door to your big heart and you reach out your hand and you touch the doorknob.
And it feels nice and warm and soft.
And you turn the knob and you open the door.
And inside your big heart is the most beautiful place you have ever seen in your whole life.
Everywhere you look,
You see something that you love.
The walls of your big heart room are decorated with pictures of all of the people who love you and all of the people who you love.
And inside of your big heart room,
There are all of your favorite colors.
There are big comfy pillows and places to sit.
There are little tiny cozy white lights.
And I want you to imagine inside of your big heart room,
Some things that make your heart really happy.
What is inside of your big heart room?
What's something in the world that makes your heart feel really,
Really happy?
Inside of my big heart room,
I have lots of dogs because dogs make my heart feel really,
Really happy.
So just imagine what's inside of your big heart room.
I'm going to give you a few minutes to picture it right now.
And can you imagine that inside of your big heart room,
There is also your favorite music playing.
And it really feels like when you walk inside,
You are getting a full body hug.
And you look down beside you.
You notice that your friend anxiety is still holding your hand.
So you take them and you find yourself a very comfy spot to sit down.
And anxiety sits right beside you.
And as you look around this beautiful space,
This space that is all of you,
As you look around at the people who you love and the people who love you,
As you look around at the things that make your heart feel really happy,
The things that make your heart feel the most like you,
You start to feel a little better.
And you notice that anxiety is starting to feel a little better too.
Let's take a big deep breath in and let it out.
And another big deep breath in and let it out.
It's okay to feel anxious.
Anxious is a part of being human.
And everybody feels anxious sometimes.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
And in these moments when anxiety comes to visit you,
Imagine taking that anxiety,
Moving it outside of your body,
Taking it by the hand and bringing it into your big heart room.
It's okay to feel anxious,
Just sitting with anxiety,
Surrounded by the people who love you,
Surrounded by all of your favorite things,
Surrounded by you.
You are so special.
And I love that when you get big feelings,
You come here and you bring them to your big heart room and you sit with them.
Because sometimes that's just what our feelings need.
They just need to know that it's okay,
That they're there and they need to know that you love them and you'll be there with them.
And when they know that,
Sometimes they'll just get up and move along and it'll be just you sitting in that big heart room with all the people that you love and all the people that love you.
And I hope you know that you are never alone with your big feelings and in all of those big feeling moments,
You can always come back here and we can move through that feeling together.
Until I see you next time,
Remember there is nobody in the whole world with a big heart just like yours.
I love you,
And I love your big heart so much.
Bye-bye.
