Welcome to your Thought Box Mental Exercise.

This is an exercise where I guide you through a series of visualizations to help give a place for some of your most repetitive,

Sticky,

And intrusive thoughts.

So if you're finding that during your day you have these thought loops that are not helpful or it's just simply not the time,

This is a great exercise to find somewhere to put them and to find a way to create more mental space.

And so to kick things off you can be in a seated position or you can do this while you're walking,

Just finding somewhere where you can reduce distractions.

And I'd like you to begin to think about your box.

So what size is your box going to be?

What material is your box made out of?

Size of your box?

The depth of your box?

The color of your box?

And if you're somebody that is not able to see or visualize in their mind,

Simply setting the intention or deciding mentally what those answers will be,

Adding as much detail as possible and allowing your mind to bring these details together and doing your best to not question or overthink.

Bring together what your thought box is going to look like.

Now I want you to take this box in between your hands and this is something that you can again visualize mentally in your brain or set the intention in your brain to place this box between your hands.

And then I want you to visualize each thought that you want to put into this box as being an object of some kind.

So the object doesn't necessarily need to mean anything to you,

It doesn't even need to logically make sense,

But it needs to be something physical.

So maybe it's a rock,

Maybe it's a figurine,

A potato,

A piece of paper.

And taking this time to pull out of your mind one thought at a time and place it in this box.

And every time you take that thought out,

And this can be a thought you know exactly what the thought is,

Maybe you don't know exactly what the thought is and that's okay,

This exercise works either way.

Physically taking it out,

Noticing the space you're creating,

That lightness you feel every time you take it out and put it in your box.

Once you have all the thoughts in your box,

You can again with your hands close the box and you're going to place it somewhere where you no longer have to think about it,

Look at it,

Be aware of it.

The idea is that the place that you're keeping this box is a safe place that's going to hold it,

But it's not somewhere that you are constantly being reminded of it.

So maybe it is a cellar or a basement,

Maybe you're placing it on a body of water and allowing it to float away,

Maybe it goes in an attic or maybe you bury it under the ground temporarily.

Taking time using as many details as you can,

Allowing your mind to tell you without overthinking where is the best place for you to put this box right now.

Once you have your place,

You can gently place your box there,

Knowing that the box has not disappeared,

These thoughts are not gone,

But they're simply stored somewhere else,

They're being held temporarily for you to revisit whenever the time is right.

And as you place your box down,

You begin to walk away,

Either seeing the box floating away,

Closing a door,

Whatever it may be,

And every step you're taking further away from that box,

You feel that mental space,

You feel lighter,

You notice the space that you've created for yourself.

And enjoy the space that you've created for yourself,

And enjoy the ability you have to choose how you want to spend that mental space.
