Hello and welcome to your meditation for traveling anxiety.
My name's Sylvie and you're likely listening to this because you're either on your way to a trip,
Planning a trip,
Maybe you are making your way through,
And it is completely understandable to experience travel anxiety.
There are lots of moving parts,
You've likely been anticipating this trip for a while,
And there's a lot of unknown variables and our brain can at times interpret these unknown variables as dangerous or something that we need to constantly pay attention to.
The goal of this meditation is to not eliminate all the things you are doing for your trip,
But to help you get settled in your body to enjoy all the wonderful things that this trip will offer and to trust in your extraordinary ability to handle the unknown.
As you have been day in day out in your life at home,
The trip will be no different.
So please take your time getting yourself in a comfortable seat,
Softening your shoulders,
Relaxing your facial features,
And if it feels comfortable you can close your eyes down.
Taking this moment to thank yourself for showing up and trusting that all you have to do is remain seated,
Listening to what you can and letting go of the rest,
Knowing that I'm taking it from here and there's nothing that needs to be done in this moment.
And as you slowly breathe in and out through your nose,
I would like you to choose a color on your inhale,
So any color that comes to mind.
Seeing yourself breathing in that color,
So going in through your nose,
Down your throat,
Filling up your entire body,
And on the exhale I want you to visualize kind of this smoke or gray fog leaving your body on the exhale.
So on the inhale you fill up all 360 degrees with your color of choice,
And exhale as you release this fog,
This smoke clears your body.
Using our inhales to fill up and our exhale to release all 360 degrees.
Keeping your shoulders soft,
Your seat nice and heavy,
60 seconds to go.
And as you begin to let go of this breath,
I invite you to begin to sense your forehead.
So keeping your eyes closed,
Your body still,
Begin to sense the space that your forehead takes up in space,
Allowing all the muscles to soften,
Finding their most comfortable place,
Bringing some awareness to the softening and easing of your forehead.
And we'll slowly begin to transition from our forehead into the space that both of our hands occupy in space.
So without using our eyes,
We focus on the buzz and hum of our hands,
Allowing all the muscles to find their rightful place,
The fingers to relax,
Creating space within our joints,
A softness and ease.
Taking this moment to feel the space that our hands take up in space.
And now we'll transition to the space that both of our feet take up in space.
So allowing all of the muscles and tissues to find their optimal place,
Allowing the toes to flatten,
The soles of your feet to relax,
Feeling the space that our feet take up in space.
And now I want you to focus on all 360 degrees of your body.
So feeling the space that your body takes up in space,
Focusing on allowing all the muscles to find their most comfortable place,
Allowing them to ease into the space.
And to not be concerned if you focus on one body part more than the other.
The objective here is to allow your body to soften,
To relax into the space that you've created for yourself.
Arriving here for 30 more seconds.
And taking a moment to let all that go.
And I invite you to pull up a part of your trip that you are looking forward to.
So maybe this is something you've experienced before or something that you are looking forward to experiencing.
Maybe it's a beach that you're looking forward to.
Lying and lounging.
Maybe it's an excursion that you're very excited for or a meal that you're looking forward to trying.
But I would like you to allow in the softness you created in your body to experience what you're looking forward to.
So if you're looking forward to experiencing new tastes and sights,
Having this sense of wonder and excitement,
Or maybe you're looking forward to completely unwinding the sun on your skin.
Allowing the details to flood in.
If they do,
There's no need to force or strain.
Planting this future memory,
Looking at the resting expression on your face,
How you're holding your body,
How you're interacting with your surroundings.
Allowing yourself to capture that internal state in your body at this moment.
Really soaking up and enjoying.
Soaking in all of the wonderful sensations that this trip will or has offered so far.
And if this is feeling good,
I invite you to stay here longer.
And I invite you to tap into this memory as you move through your trip.
So as you move through the logistics or go through your to-do lists,
Bump up against uncertainty,
You can bring this sense of wonderment and ease,
Knowing that you are more than capable of moving through this trip and you are completely deserving and capable of enjoying all the fruits that this trip has to offer.
And so taking your time,
Slowly opening your eyes,
Using this recording any time discomfort shows up.
And I wish you a wonderful,
Wonderful rest of your trip.
