Psst!

Come here.

Listen carefully.

I have a secret.

Do you want to hear it?

Okay.

Here's my secret.

Sometimes I have a really hard time falling asleep.

How about you?

Hmm?

You want to?

Well,

Maybe tonight you and me can uncover the real secret,

Which is how do you fall asleep when you're not really sure how to fall asleep?

Huh!

Well,

Let's figure it out.

Just you and me.

What do you say?

Cool.

I'm looking forward to it.

By the way,

I am a Le Fay of Silvanosity,

And I am so glad you picked this track to listen to,

And I hope we are successful.

So,

Hmm,

What do you think is the secret to falling asleep when you can't fall asleep?

You know,

Some people say taking a nice hot shower or a warm,

Sudsy bath can help you relax.

Hmm.

Which do you prefer?

A nice hot shower that relaxes your muscles and soothes you with a repeating sound of the warm water trickling down,

A bit like a stream.

Or maybe you prefer the bath,

Where you can sink down in the warm,

Soothing,

Sudsy water.

If you're like me,

Then you like to immerse yourself just enough so you can make deep sea noises.

Woop,

Woop.

Like those humpback whales that sing songs in the deep ocean.

You know,

Sounds is another thing that can help you fall asleep.

Some people like to listen to recordings of thunderstorms or soft,

Soothing voices,

Kind of like mine.

Others use their mind and travel where they would like to go,

Where they feel the most relaxed.

It's called creative visualization.

Would you like to give it a try?

Hmm?

Let's go ahead and do that now because the secret of good sleep is finding your own secrets.

So let's visualize where we feel the most relaxed.

What about a hammock between two tall trees that rustles softly in the breeze as you sway just a little?

It's warm,

But not so hot it makes you sweat.

Warm enough to relax you,

But a cool,

Soft breeze to make you sway just a little.

To allow you to stretch,

And relax with the rhythm of the leaves rustling overhead.

So you can sway yourself to sleep.

Sounds lovely,

Doesn't it?

Or maybe you're the type who loves to sink in a soft,

Feathery bed with a warm blanket straight from the dryer and a soft,

Friendly someone you take to bed with you.

Maybe they have soft ears you like to swish,

Swish over under your nose or wrap around your finger.

Or maybe you like to flip,

Flip your finger over their soft,

Soft foot.

Whatever it is that helps you relax.

Speaking of relaxing,

I've heard that it can be very helpful if you scrunch up your toes,

Then relax them.

If you tighten up your thighs,

Then relax them.

If you squinch up your belly,

Then relax.

Shrug up your shoulders,

And then relax.

You can work with each of the muscle groups in your body,

From your feet to your head,

Until you feel comfortably relaxed.

And it helps to control your breathing.

Deep breath in,

Slow breath out.

Others,

Try counting or reciting the alphabet,

Or saying slow,

Soothing words like leaf,

Slumber,

Softness,

Sassafras,

Liminal,

Lemon meringue pie,

Pillow,

Cloud.

Maybe it's listening to beautiful,

Soft,

Melodic music,

Until you drift off to sleep.

Some people like to read.

You could also invent your own story,

If you like.

When I'm having difficulty falling asleep,

Often I imagine myself staring up into clouds,

Watching them shift and move in the breeze,

Imagining them as comforting,

Quiet things.

Sheep grazing in a meadow,

A cat curling up in front of the fire,

A dog nuzzling down into a comfy bed.

Whatever it is that gives you comfort,

That can help.

Now,

Let me see,

Is it possible that the reason you have difficulty falling asleep is because you have thoughts that crop up and perk up your mind when you really just want to go to bed?

Well,

If that's the problem,

This is what I'd like you to do.

Imagine your mind had its very own pencil,

And Scritch Scratch Scritch wrote down those niggling little thoughts.

Imagine your mind taking the paper on which those thoughts are written and folding it up,

Shlup,

Shlup,

Shlup,

Until it's no bigger than a snowflake.

Rest it on your hand and blow it away.

No more thought.

If another thought comes into your head,

Scritch Scratch Scritch,

Fold,

Fold,

Fold,

Place it in the center of your hand and blow it away.

Let those thoughts tear you.

Now,

Take what makes you comfortable and allow it to carry you off to sleep.

Sometimes secrets hide from us.

They don't come easily.

But I hope this time with you and I working together to think of what might help us fall asleep has been helpful to you,

Has allowed you to think of ways to nestle down,

Still your mind,

Quiet your body and slip off into slumber.

Thank you very much for joining me.

This has been a le fe searching for the secret of slipping off to sleep.

I hope you found it tonight and that tomorrow night you discover that slipping off to sleep is so much easier than it used to be.

Good night.

This has been a le fe of Sylvanosity.
