The dark seems to have a bad reputation in our culture and is feared by many. This visualization is an invitation to be guided into the dark, learn to trust it and open to the unknown and profound information that might be present here. It is an invitation to relax and be present during this dark time of year, and allow the darkness to inform us. To be actively remembering where we came from, so we can see more clearly where we are intending to go. With music by Ojhro.

Tonight,

I would like to take you on a journey into the longest night of the year.

We are in deep,

Dark winter.

I invite you to get ready to leave your cozy home for just a little while.

And come with me to see.

You're scared,

You say,

Of the dark.

That's okay,

I say,

We all are.

You might be cold,

You say,

In the dark.

It's okay,

I say,

Put a warm blanket around your body and a toque on your head and mittens on your fingers.

Put on your shoes and come,

Come with me.

I will take your hand.

Can I bring a flashlight,

You ask?

Not tonight,

I say.

And so we go.

We walk out through your front door into the darkness of the night.

It's deep and black and fear has a slight grip on your stomach.

And yet,

With every step you take,

You allow your fear to surrender.

And so we walk into the void of light or sound.

We walk for a while.

You learn to trust your feet.

You learn to take comfort in my hand.

You learn to see and to hear with senses other than your eyes.

You walk slower.

You walk with care.

And yet you walk with courage and curiosity.

What is there to be found in the dark,

You ask?

Listen,

I say.

Listen with your heart.

Open your heart to feel.

What is there when you can see nothing?

When you can hear nothing?

When you think nothing?

When you just listen?

What is your heart?

What does your heart know?

What does your heart remember?

From before it was so shielded and protected and safe.

What does your heart remember?

From when it was still in your mother's womb,

Beating in rhythm with hers.

When it was dark and quiet and all was taken care of.

And what does your heart remember?

From the time before that.

When your heart was spirit.

Without a body yet,

In the void.

The shimmering light.

Ready to be born as you.

What does your heart remember?

What is it that came here and landed in this body and lives as you?

Who is it?

What have you forgotten?

Listen into the darkness.

For here you can see the tiniest speck of light.

Shining the way.

And the being and not doing.

And the resting and not thriving.

And the yin and not the yang.

Please open to reveal themselves.

To be found by those who are brave enough to walk into the darkness.

And those who are willing to make the time to stop for long enough to listen to the forgotten sounds and voices of wisdom within.
