Advaita Vedanta Practice #8
This is a deeply profound guided Advaita Vedanta practice. Use this practice as an appointment with the Self, delving inwards in order to realise that by a simple shift in perception, we can learn to cultivate deep inner peace and contentment. Note: This practice begins with the chant "Om Namah Shivaya Raja."
Transcript

Please be relaxed,
Seated in a comfortable posture with eyes lightly closed.
The fingers of the two palms are interlocked and resting on the lap.
The head and the neck and the body,
As erect as possible,
A relaxed posture and a relaxed mind.
The mind is relaxed because there is no agenda.
My mind is free from any agenda.
During this session,
There is nothing that I want to accomplish.
There is no accomplishment.
There is no becoming.
There is no changing.
There is just being,
Being what I am.
In this meditation,
We are not seeking to gain any new experience or a new sensation.
This is an appointment with myself.
In my busy schedule,
I hardly have any time to be with myself,
To recognize the beauty,
The glory of my own self.
All the time,
Looking for happiness and peace outside of myself,
Having concluded,
Happiness is out there,
Peace is out there.
Having concluded that there is agitation within me,
I have been entertaining so many conclusions,
So many opinions about myself,
Which is all taken for granted.
This is an opportunity to recognize that I am not what I take myself to be,
That I do not have the struggle to find peace or happiness outside of myself,
That peace is indeed my nature.
Joy is indeed my nature.
I do not have to become peaceful.
I do not have to become happy.
The core person that I am is of the nature of peace,
Happiness.
This meditation is intended to recognize this fact about myself.
And hence,
There is no agenda of doing something,
Of accomplishing something,
Of becoming something.
Indeed,
I don't need to do anything.
I don't need to change anything to be at peace.
The very process,
The very effort to change,
To become amounts to denial.
My effort to become peaceful involves a denial of the peace that I am.
The effort on my part to become happy involves a denial of the happiness which I am.
And hence,
During this meditation,
I drop all the efforts,
The efforts arising from conclusion that I have to become peaceful,
That I have to become happy.
Efforts arising from those conclusions,
I drop the effort.
Hence,
My mind is relaxed.
Relaxed in view of the recognition that I already am,
What I have been trying to become,
I already am.
I am intrinsically a silent,
Conscious being.
Intrinsically,
I am a kind,
Loving person.
I am intrinsically a good,
Noble person.
Contentment,
Satisfaction is my nature.
What is necessary is to drop my conclusions about myself,
The conclusions that are born of a wrong perception of myself.
This meditation is for dropping those false perceptions.
When there is acceptance of myself.
When I do not reject myself.
I do not condemn myself.
This condemnation,
This rejection,
This non-acceptance of myself is an account of the false perception,
The wrong conclusions about myself.
This meditation is to recognize that I am most acceptable to myself.
What is most acceptable to me?
It is what I already am.
I let go the non-acceptance of myself.
Whatever my body is,
Male or female,
Young or old,
Strong or weak,
Fat or lean,
Whatever my body is,
I accept it.
I do not judge it.
I do not reject it.
I lovingly accept my body.
It is a great gift.
It is a privilege to have this body.
I know there are many limitations in the body,
And at the same time,
There are many virtues.
I lovingly accept my body with its virtues and limitations.
No conflict with my body.
Further,
I accept my mind as it is.
My mind is a beautiful instrument for performing various tasks,
For relating,
For interacting,
For receiving,
For responding.
My mind is a beautiful gift,
A great gift.
Indeed,
There are limitations in the mind.
Limitations of memory,
Limitations of knowledge,
Limitations of intelligence.
The mind is meant to be an unlimited entity,
Regardless of what I do,
It will remain limited.
Bitterness is no reason to reject it or be dissatisfied with it.
I lovingly accept my mind with its thoughts,
With its emotions,
With its virtues,
With its limitations.
I lovingly accept my mind.
I lovingly accept my body with its virtues and limitations.
I willingly accept my mind with its virtues and limitations.
I am at peace with my body.
I am at peace with my mind.
And I am at peace with myself.
I am happy that I am a conscious being.
I am happy that I am a human being.
I am happy that I can think.
I am happy that I can talk.
I am happy that I can do these day-to-day things.
They are not ordinary things.
There is all the reason to be happy when I do not make any demands upon myself.
When I make demands upon myself,
I demand that I should be different from what I am.
I should be stronger than what I am.
I should be more intelligent than what I am.
You know there is a demand that I should be different from what I am.
There is unhappiness when I drop all the demands upon myself,
Lovingly accept myself as I am.
In spite of all the limitations,
That it is not an offense to be a limited being,
That I have not created limitations.
Limitations are a reality of life.
That every human being is unique and that I am also a unique human being,
That I do not have to judge myself based on someone else's standard,
That I can lovingly own up myself as I am.
That I lovingly accept myself as I am when I drop all demands upon myself.
When there is self-acceptance.
When I stop not accepting myself.
When I stop rejecting myself.
When I stop condemning myself.
When I stop judging myself.
Then there is acceptance of myself.
There is comfort with myself.
Then I am at peace with myself.
For being at peace with myself,
There is nothing to be done.
In fact,
I just have to stop doing.
Stop judging.
Stop demanding.
Stop rejecting.
Accepting myself as I am.
Not accepting myself has become a habit.
Therefore a conscious effort is required to drop the habit.
Accept myself as I am.
I like myself as I am.
I love myself as I am.
Then there is no conflict in my mind.
Then there is peace in my mind.
And peace is the nature of the mind.
Conflicts are due to wrong perception,
Wrong thinking.
Conflicts are not the nature of the mind.
Peace is the nature of the mind.
In self,
Acceptance.
In self,
Satisfaction.
In self,
Love.
There is peace.
And where there is peace,
There is happiness.
All the happiness of excitement or elation.
The steady,
Silent,
Abiding happiness,
Which is my nature.
Which is inhibited.
Which is veiled behind the cloud of conflict.
The natural happiness,
Veiled behind the cloud of non-acceptance.
When that cloud clears,
The peace,
The silence,
The happiness,
Which is my nature.
Becomes evident.
Self-evident,
Silent,
Peaceful,
Conscious being,
I.
Conscious,
Silent,
Peaceful being,
I.
I don't know to become this,
I am this.
And all becoming is let go.
The true nature of myself becomes evident.
Please do not repeat,
Just listen.

Namaste! " I am silent conscious happiness. I do not need to become anything..." I picked this specifically because it mentioned accepting the mind and body and I deal eith chronic pain. This did not disappoint. Another almost perfect "meditation". If you are looking at the time and thinking this may be a bit long...trust me, it literally only feels like 15-20 minutes has gone by! Calming, empowering, spiritual AND secular...the perfect fusion of East meets West. Jai Guru!

Thank you. Just so important to meditate in this way, seeing the fact that consciousness one is, does not require to change in any way. Thank you Swamiji
