Welcome!
In this practice,
We'll begin to let go of old attachments that are no longer needed to create space for new energy.
It's a way of thanking the past and opening up to positive change.
Please have a single piece of paper and a pen handy.
We'll begin with a visualization followed by a creative exercise.
Letting go is an important practice and is easy to say but not always easy to do.
On my path,
It's been a hard lesson,
But I now know that when I feel stagnant or stuck,
Heavy,
Defeated,
Or even just a little down,
It's often because I'm carrying too much old energy around.
Most of the time,
The heaviness is from my own old stories,
Beliefs,
And attachments that I no longer need and the process of letting go is my own important inner work.
But sometimes,
I find I'm also carrying around what's not even mine.
To be in community means caring about others,
But I learned from Eckhart Tolle that there are two levels of empathy.
In the first level of empathy,
We feel what other people feel.
This is what can be exhausting.
In the more powerful second level of empathy,
We are present and sense into the presence of others.
We meet them in being,
Not in worry or fear.
Second level empathy takes practice.
So most of us are carrying around a combination of old stuff from ourselves and others.
Let's begin to clear it so we feel lighter and freer.
By moving this stuck energy out,
We can make space for new energy to come in,
Which is refreshing.
When we sense a spaciousness,
It's easier to be present.
And when we're present,
We can make quantum leaps,
Which are big energy shifts.
That's why letting go is so important.
We don't need to carry so much to move forward.
Let's bring willingness to this practice and see what happens.
Feel free to invite your playful inner child to join in.
By accessing your imagination,
You'll go even deeper into the exploration.
To begin,
Look around you.
Notice three shapes,
Colors,
Or objects you appreciate.
Now close or soften your eyes and go within.
We'll begin the process of letting go with three special cleansing breaths.
Breathe in through your nose as you feel into your head,
Neck,
And shoulders.
As you breathe out,
Allow all the air to drop down through your chest,
Body,
And legs all the way to your feet.
Again,
Breathe in through your head and then drop the air down your body and out through your feet.
One more time,
Breathe in through your head and then drop the air down your body and out through your feet.
Now,
With your eyes still closed,
Imagine you are in a vast and beautiful park.
You hear water flowing and walk towards it.
You see a sparkling pool and a small waterfall cascading from the glistening rocks above it.
You step into the pool and it's cool but not uncomfortable.
So you wade through the water until you're under the waterfall.
Allow the cleansing waters to flow down your whole body from your head to your feet.
You might see a little frog symbolized in connection to water.
The frog's energy is here to support you during change.
Allow the water to flow all around your body and rest here in the cleansing water as you breathe into presence.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes and go directly to the page.
On your piece of paper,
Write down one or more internal thoughts,
Stories,
Beliefs,
Attachments,
Or habits you are ready to let go of.
Silently or out loud,
Thank all of that old stuff for moving through you.
Now take your piece of paper and fold it into two.
Then fold it into two again.
Tear your page into quarters.
In this space,
You are powerful.
In this space,
You can expand.
Thank you.
As you go about your day,
Remember this feeling of space and ease.
You are courageous and free.
