
Emotional Healing With Love And Awareness
In this session, you will learn to heal constricting emotions like sadness, fear, anger and worry with love and awareness. The normal reaction to negative emotions is fight, flight or freeze which does not heal emotions. Neither does thinking heal emotions. Only love and awareness can heal these emotions so that they return to their natural state which is love.

Hello,
This is Susita.
In this session,
We will explore healing emotions with love and awareness.
Peace and happiness are our natural state,
But they get veiled by emotions like anger,
Fear,
Sadness,
Guilt.
So,
It's very important for us to heal these emotions so that the underlying peace and happiness of our true nature can shine.
This emotional healing not only helps us end suffering for ourselves,
But it also brings healing of the body and healing of relationships and healing of our entire world.
To heal constricting emotions,
We first need to change our attitude towards them.
We have always resisted emotions that constrict us.
We have looked at them as something bad,
Something that shouldn't be here.
In the heart-based approach,
We look at these emotions with love and care and look at them as parts of us that need healing,
That need our love and care.
So,
Instead of saying no to these emotions,
We say yes.
We say yes.
I know you need my love and care and I am going to love you today.
I might have suppressed you many times over the years,
But today I will love you.
But it's not possible to love these emotions as an ego.
You can only love it as your true self.
So,
Close your eyes.
With your eyes closed,
You feel an emptiness,
A spaciousness.
This formlessness is your spiritual self.
This is the divine life from which everything is manifested.
This is the life from which the form is manifested.
Feel the unending nature of your own divine space.
Feel the unending nature of your own divine space.
This divine space is your true self.
It is love,
It is peace,
It is pure awareness.
In truth,
It is the only presence,
The only power.
It is the unborn,
The unmanifested.
Everything that we see through our senses is a manifestation of this formless self.
It is the realm of cause and the world and the body is the realm of effect.
Feel yourself as this space,
Space without boundaries,
Without division,
Without beginning or end.
Feel that you are this space.
You are experiencing it right now.
Now,
Think of a situation that is causing you to feel disturbed.
Please take complete responsibility and choose something that is of medium intensity.
You can start with small issues and then as you gain confidence you can work on the bigger issues.
And if the issues are very traumatic or intense,
Please take help.
As you think of the situation,
Notice that a certain emotion is triggered.
It constricts you.
Certain emotions constrict us and cause us to feel suffering.
And these are generally termed as negative emotions.
But in our healing,
We are not going to label it like that.
Because we are going to look at them as unloved parts of us,
Parts of us that want our love and healing.
So,
Notice that this energy is in your infinite space.
This energy wants your love and care.
Now disconnect from the thought and the other people involved in this memory.
Please remember,
The other people are mere triggers and they show us what is unresolved in us,
What is unloved in us.
So,
Having an attitude that whatever arises in me is my responsibility is very,
Very helpful.
We are now disconnecting from thoughts and other people involved.
Just feeling the raw energy.
Notice that this energy is held by the space of your being.
All your life you have resisted these emotions.
You have said no.
You have denied them.
Today,
You are going to love it,
Care for it and heal it.
Not as an ego self,
But as your true self.
So,
All you are going to do is,
Notice that you are the space holding this raw energy.
If thoughts arise,
Bring your awareness back to the space which is holding this energy.
Remember that thoughts only intensify the emotion.
A thought cannot heal the emotion.
It will only intensify it and make it worse.
So,
Thought is not the healer.
Love is the healer.
Love and awareness is the healer.
So,
Even if you get engaged in thought,
It is not a problem.
When you hear me say,
Be the space,
Bring your awareness back to the space that is holding the emotion.
This energy is in your own space.
It is not outside of you.
It is in your own space.
So,
Be the space holding this energy.
Feel this constricted emotion again.
Now,
Be the space holding this energy.
Be the tenderness holding this energy.
Be the space.
Be the space.
Now,
Briefly revisit the situation,
The image,
The people.
Again,
Disconnect.
Drop the images.
Drop the thoughts and stay with the raw energy.
Be the space around the raw energy.
Be the space.
Be the loving space which is holding this energy.
Now,
You are no longer resisting it.
Remember,
What you resist persists,
But what you love gets healed.
Be the space.
Be the tenderness,
The care.
Look at this energy like a small child wanting the love of the parent,
Wanting to be held.
Be the space.
And notice the space is already holding that energy like that in such a loving manner.
Your true self is already holding it.
So,
All you are doing is being aware that your true self has no problem with this energy.
In fact,
It loves it.
Be the space.
Only love is.
So,
When this energy is held with love and awareness,
It transforms into love,
Into peace.
It returns to the source.
Be the space.
Do not have any agenda that this should be healed.
Just be the loving space.
Feel that my only purpose now is to love this energy.
Hold it.
Be aware of it.
It is the broken part of me,
The hurt part of me.
And I am just going to hold it.
And my true self is already holding it.
So,
I will just be aware and become one with the space that is holding this energy.
Be the space.
Be the tenderness.
Be the care.
Be the allowing.
So,
Friends,
This is how we heal emotions with love and care and from our true self.
Some issues will require a little bit of introspection and guidance.
All constricting emotions will return to their state of love if they are cared for like this.
Love is their natural state.
Every time you hold the emotion with love and awareness,
Healing happens.
So,
Sometimes it is immediate and sometimes it takes time.
So,
Please be patient with yourself.
This is a beautiful method and it really really works.
But do remember not to focus on getting rid of the emotion.
The focus should always be,
I am loving this emotion and leaving the result to the Divine.
Your only responsibility is to be the space holding that emotion.
So,
Again,
Close your eyes and be the space.
Be the open,
Empty,
Aware space.
This is your true nature.
Peace is your true nature.
Love is your true nature.

That was so beautiful, and I love your practices. Sorry I haven’t been back in touch following our email but also came to the realisation that I am my own teacher. I was in North India last year and planning to do The South next time and perhaps attend a class or retreat, could really feel held and that I was having a different relationship with fear. I have felt fear a lot of my life and probably have suppressed it mostly. Once I identify with the space and not the emotion I know it’s been held, loved and eventually will dissolve into wholeness and emptiness. There is a lively prayer by John O Donaghue that I sometimes say ‘May all that is unforgiven in me be released May all my fears yield a deeper tranquility May all that is unlived in me blossom into a future graced with love’ Much love and many blessings 💚❤️

Thank you. I have never offered a gift payment to a teacher/guide on Insight Timer before. You are the first person I will try to send a thank you gift to. I am so grateful. I sense this meditation is so important and only really have an inkling of its impact at this point. It’s that tip of an iceberg that feels 90% under the surface -a huge shift is happening but mostly all unseen. We know the power of icebergs to break and split entire ocean liners apart. I feel like I am a tiny boat that’s been floating and been tossed by life’s waves and pushed by winds and I’ve lived mostly rudderless (unaware) and this meditation is that iceberg tip that split me and opened me and now I feel hopeful, not afraid! I feel free even tho I am now in the ocean! Instead of panicking, like one would panic finding herself “lost at sea” or “shipwrecked” and fearing I’ll drown in this vast ocean with no one to rescue me, instead I feel free! The ocean is my home and I am held in the arms of the Universe, floating and resting and not struggling at all! I am expansive in this beautiful sea of gentleness - no struggle needed! Just an amazing letting go, letting go! I’m smiling up at blue sky and warm sunshine on my face. I am sucking in fresh, fresh air, like I am breathing in such healing fresh air. Breathing for “the first time!” How is that possible? Arms spread wide and legs relaxed, totally held and supported by the vast, loving Universe. Held in her arms of love, I am love. I am perfectly imperfect and that’s ok! I am all I need to be and where I need to be and I am well and all is well and all will be well! Thank you. This is one of the most important meditations I have heard since starting to use Insight Timer. It was also one of the most difficult to “stay with”! I had to start it over and over. Something told me to stop and go back. I continued to try again and again to listen to every word. Incredible just how “distracted” my mind was. I felt the resistance but just smiled to myself and kept breathing and after several restarts I was able to stick with it from a place of openness. The word of the day in insight timer was about breathing and beginning again. It was a quote by Sharon Salzberg - “That’s life: Starting over, one breath at a time.” This message was meant to be! I believe it put the seed in my heart and when I “randomly chose” this meditation it was exactly what I needed to hear today! I am beginning to understand there is nothing seemingly random about this journey into meditation. It is all meant to be and is unfolding in perfect time. How comforting and peaceful to let that soak into the marrow of my bones. Absolutely the most precious gift! I am so GRATEFUL! Thank you thank you thank you for this meditation!
