Good morning everybody.

I live in Los Angeles and it's raining here today.

I love the rain.

I don't know about you but I just love the rain.

And one of the things I love most about the rain is just listening to it.

Have you ever spent some time just listening to the rain?

Let's listen right now.

Can you hear it?

So now let's listen to the rain in very much the same way we feel the movement of breathing.

So we're going to sit up straight or lie on our backs.

We're going to put our hands on our tummy.

We're going to feel our breath moving in and out.

And we're going to notice what our bodies feel like when we just sit and relax and listen.

Let's listen now.

Oh boy,

There was a little more thunder.

Did you hear the thunder?

So what's happening out there?

Is the rain staying the same or is it changing?

I don't know.

I think it's changing.

I don't know about you but let's listen some more and see.

Does the rain stay the same?

Does the sound of the rain stay the same or does it change?

Let's feel our breathing,

Relax our bodies and listen a little more.

Is it changing?

Oh boy,

I can hear it change.

All right,

Well let's see if anything else changes when we pay attention to our breathing in this way and when we pay attention to what we're hearing in this way.

Let's see if our bodies change at all.

Does the way our bodies feel change when we're paying attention to our breathing in this way or paying attention to the sound of the rain in this way?

Let's sit up in a straight way or relax or lie down,

Hands on belly,

Feel the breathing and just listen and see what happens to your body.

I don't know about you but when I listen like this,

My body starts to relax.

Let's see if your body relaxes.

Stretch up your eyes,

Stretch your arms,

Stretch,

Stretch,

Stretch.

Breathe in,

Breathe out,

Listen and see if anything changes.

Wow,

I noticed that the rain is changing outside,

My body is feeling more calm,

My breath is getting a little slower and my mind is starting to quiet.

I don't know about you but that's what happens to me when I listen to the rain in this way.

I look forward to sitting with you tomorrow.

Let's dedicate this practice to everybody who's out in the rain today.

May they all find joy in the rain and may they be happy and healthy and safe and live in peace.

Great meditation for kids. This session promotes an appreciation for the rain and therefore nature as a whole.
