Good morning. This morning's inspiration includes a practice to ground you in kindness and enhance your connections. Sometimes we start the day anticipating tension, but what if we chose a different path? Just as we tune a musical instrument before playing, we can take a moment to tune our hearts, so that we are more closely in alignment with what we value most. I hope this practice helps you show up today from a grounded place of caring and clarity, no matter what your day holds. Thank you for starting your morning with me.

Good morning,

I'm Susan Guttridge and I'm so glad to be starting this day with you.

As the subtle light of morning gathers,

Allow your own body to slowly awaken with a nice releasing stretch.

Breathe deeply into every sleeping corner of your being,

Inviting spaciousness,

Inviting energy.

And then settle back into a comfortable position,

Just enjoying the sensation of being held,

Of being supported by your bed.

For our morning inspiration today,

We will be focusing on tuning the heart,

A practice that can ground you more fully into your loving-kindness and enhance the way you show up for the people close to you and also for yourself.

Sometimes we enter our day already anticipating tension.

We might rehearse arguments in our mind,

Assume the worst of someone's intentions,

Or carry the weight of yesterday's pain into today's conversations.

So this morning,

I invite you to try something different.

Tuning the heart is a practice of softening.

It's about remembering love and gently shifting our focus toward connection and care.

Just like tuning a musical instrument before playing,

We can take a moment to tune our own heart,

To align with what we value in our relationships,

To remember who and what matters most.

Take a moment now to connect with your breath.

Deeply inhaling in,

Noticing the rise of your abdomen as you do,

And the fall as you exhale out.

Now I'd like to invite you to bring to mind someone you care about.

If relationships are hard for you right now,

As they sometimes can be,

You could bring to mind a pet or a friend.

As you bring this person to mind,

Intentionally turn your focus toward what you love about them,

What qualities do you admire in them,

And what softens in you as you think of them.

Imagine your heart as an instrument gently being tuned,

Adjusting until it rings true with your kindness and care.

Just being curious as you notice the sensations that arise,

A feeling of openness,

Expansion,

Or a subtle lifting.

And if it's okay,

Stay with this for a few more breaths.

Now allow your heart to open just a little more with each breath in,

And with each exhale out.

There's no need to force anything,

You're just noticing,

Allowing.

When you're ready,

Offer yourself an intention,

A call to action,

Like a gentle whisper into this new day.

For example,

Today may I speak from this place of love.

May I see through the lens of love.

May my heart remain tuned as I go about my day.

As thoughts of your day begin to trickle in,

And you think about shifting into this day,

I invite you to keep this sensation of a tuned heart with you for a moment.

Before that next conversation,

Pause,

Take a breath.

Remember what you love or what you admire about this person you are conversing with.

Tune in again,

Even just for a brief moment.

You hold the power to choose how you show up.

By tuning the heart,

You are choosing to meet the moment from a place of warmth,

Clarity,

And kindness,

Regardless of how others may be showing up.

Thank you for being here.

Thank you for sharing your morning with me.
