Good morning and welcome to this gratitude meditation.
This session is wonderful to listen to first thing in the morning as you wake.
It will give you an opportunity to begin the new day with renewed appreciation.
When we practice gratitude it releases dopamine into the brain which gives us a natural feel-good high.
Let's begin by taking a moment to allow our body to settle into a comfortable position.
You can either lie down with your hands gently rested on your stomach or if you prefer sitting in a position that's relaxed and comfortable for you.
Just invite a sense of relaxation and ease into your body.
You can have your eyes open if you'd like or if you prefer you can close them.
Before the mind wakes up completely this morning we're going to take a moment to give thanks for a few of the things that we are grateful for in our lives.
Let's take a few deep breaths invigorating the lungs breathing in slowly to the count of four and then holding for a moment before releasing to the count of eight.
And as you breathe out just allow your body to soften any tightness.
Dropping your shoulders,
Allowing your hands to gently relax.
Relaxing the muscles of your face and jaw.
With a relaxed body and a calm mind it's much easier to let in gratitude.
Simply breathe and enjoy the sensation of breathing in this wonderful feeling of appreciation.
Take a moment now to think about someone in your life for whom you are thankful.
Remind yourself of why you're grateful that this person is in your life.
Perhaps they've been there to support you while you've gone through difficult times.
Maybe they've been there to share and celebrate your successes.
Have they offered unwavering kindness and friendship.
Maybe there's a quality that they possess that you really admire.
Let's take a moment now to think of all the things that you are grateful for.
Now let's take a moment to look within and think about something within yourself that you are grateful for.
Perhaps it's your health or perhaps it's one of your qualities.
Maybe you show compassion towards others.
Have a positive attitude or perhaps a great sense of humor.
Take a moment now to think about the qualities you're most proud of and offer yourself self-love and gratitude during this time.
Now turn your thoughts to your morning routine and how you will start your day.
Think about the things within your home that you are grateful for.
Perhaps it's the comforts of a warm bed,
The warmth and enjoyment of a hot shower or perhaps it's simply starting the day with freshly brewed coffee.
What does your morning look like and what are you thankful for?
As you go about your day I encourage you to find things to be grateful for in your wider surroundings.
Maybe the sense of flowers or the color of the sky.
Perhaps it's the feeling of warmth from the sun on your face,
The sound of laughter or simply a warm smile from a stranger.
At any given moment throughout the day we can find something to be grateful for.
We just need to take a moment to observe our surroundings.
I'd like you to repeat after me either out loud or within your mind the following four statements.
I'm grateful for this wonderful new day.
I'm grateful for the love of family and friends.
I'm grateful for all the lessons that I've learned.
I'm grateful for all that I have in my life.
I'm grateful for all that I have in my life.
Gently place both hands lightly on your stomach area and take in a deep breath.
Invigorating the lungs,
Waking them up and giving your body a nice gentle stretch to get the blood flowing.
Feel your body becoming more energized,
More alert and feel this invigorating energy flow through your hands spreading throughout your body.
Align yourself with the intention to continue your day in gratitude.
I'd like to thank you for allowing me to share these waking moments with you and I wish you a spectacular day filled with gratitude and joy.
