As-salamu alaykum,

Peace be with you.

Ramadan Mubarak.

Welcome to the University of Sufism's reading of Rosina Fawzia Al-Rawi's book,

The Call of Allah,

A Companion to the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Today I am sharing day number 25 about the Prophet,

Peace and blessings be upon him.

The best of speech is embodied in the book of Allah,

And the best guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad.

May Allah's peace and blessings be upon him.

Quran 21 ayat 107 And thus,

O Prophet,

We have sent thee as an evidence of our grace towards all the worlds.

It is always the Prophet's,

Peace be upon him,

Wise and gentle kindness that enables our faith to deepen.

The Prophet Muhammad,

Peace be upon him,

Is the messenger of Allah.

It is through him,

Peace and blessings be upon him,

That the Holy Quran was put in our hands.

But he,

Peace be upon him,

Also embodied the Quran in his words and deeds.

And he,

Peace and blessings be upon him,

Is for us an example and a teacher.

The Prophet,

Peace and blessings be upon him,

Is not only the seal of all prophets,

Quran 33 ayat 40,

He,

Peace be upon him,

Is also the one who conveyed a universal message valid for all times and all human beings.

He,

Peace be upon him,

Brought us the Quran from Allah with the one truth,

Which also vibrates in all previous revelations.

All of God's preceding prophets,

Peace be with them,

Highlighted a part of the truth,

And the Prophet Muhammad,

Peace be upon him,

Formed the final part of all revelations.

Quran 2 ayat 285.

Allah tells us in the Quran,

Making no distinction between any of his apostles.

Quran 2 ayat 285.

They all showed us how and what a human being can and should be.

The Prophet Muhammad,

Peace be upon him,

Teaches us,

Warns and comforts us.

He,

Peace be with him,

Leads us through the divine revelation,

Through the Quran,

And gives us the best example of how we can live in this world,

Embedded in the divine laws,

While at the same time,

Being forever connected with Allah.

This is why Allah tells us,

Whoever pays heed unto the apostle,

Pays heed unto God thereby.

Quran 4 ayat 80.

As we pay attention to what the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Said and did,

We are shown the path which leads to knowledge,

Light,

And the meaning of our existence.

The Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Explained to us his task,

Saying,

My parable,

And the parable of the people,

Is that of a man who made a fire,

And when that fire gave light around it,

The moths and the insects,

Which normally fall into it,

Started throwing themselves into the fire.

The man then tried to prevent them from falling into the fire,

But they overpowered him and still hurled themselves into the fire.

I am therefore the one who prevents you from falling into the fire,

And you insist on hurling yourselves into it.

The Prophet Muhammad,

Peace be upon him,

Showed us,

In countless situations,

How we can practice peace,

Respect,

And tolerance.

He,

Peace be upon him,

Showed us how we can remain in total surrender to God,

And out of that surrender,

Form a just,

Respectful community.

The Sunnah of the Prophet,

Peace and blessings be upon him,

Is a teaching for all Muslims,

And it calls upon us to follow him,

Peace be upon him,

In every detail,

The way he,

Peace be upon him,

Spoke,

Ate,

Washed,

Prayed,

And loved,

In order to revive his spirit,

His perfect humanity here on earth,

And to experience from him,

Peace be upon him,

The deep surrender to God.

When we praise the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

We open our heart and our consciousness to allow him,

Peace be upon him,

To show us how we can live our life.

The Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Was deeply convinced that goodness can blossom at any time in us human beings,

Allah willing,

And he,

Peace be upon him,

Showed us how we should deal with ourselves and behave with our fellow human beings.

He,

Peace be upon him,

Also showed us when we should protect and defend ourselves if we see that people have opted for hatred,

Slander,

And separation.

The Beloved of Allah,

Peace and blessings be upon him,

Could well understand people's pains,

Losses,

Worries,

And difficulties,

Because Allah had given him,

Peace be upon him,

All these experiences.

Every mother who has lost her child bonds with the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Because he too lost his children in his lifetime.

Every human being who has seen one of his loved ones die and because of that lost their balance can bond with the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Because he lost his beloved wife and his beloved uncle who had supported him.

Every human being who is misunderstood and rejected by their family can bond with the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Because his tribe cast him out and fought him.

Every human being who is alone and an orphan in this world can bond with the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Because he had already become an orphan in his early years.

Every human being who is hurt and wounded by colleagues and other fellow human beings can bond with the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Because many people hurled stones and abuse at him.

So let the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Be your teacher and your consoler in your greatest successes and your biggest failures.

Allow his example to nurture and strengthen you so that you may come to your strength and your confidence.

When we invoke blessings upon our Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

We are doing what God charged us to do.

Verily,

God and his angels bless the Prophet.

Hence,

O you who have attained faith,

Bless him and give yourselves up to his guidance in utter self-surrender.

Quran 33 ayat 56.

When we praise the Prophet Muhammad,

Peace and blessings be upon him,

We also remind ourselves of who we truly are.

When we praise the beautiful qualities of the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

And of all Prophets who came before him,

Peace be upon them,

We are opening up to the beauty that Allah has placed in us,

To the light and inner beauty of our own souls.

When we praise the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

And reflect upon it,

We also open ourselves to our immense innate human potential.

Whenever we praise the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

We are actually praising our purity and our beauty too.

By blessing the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

We take our consciousness to a higher level.

We open to the light within ourselves.

Whoever praises the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Blesses at the same time the world and the capacity for knowledge,

So that the blessing comes back multiplied to the one who has given his heart in the prayer.

The Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Said,

If someone invokes blessings upon me once,

Allah will bless him ten times.

In the prayer for the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

The intention is for us human beings to strive for unity.

Unity is that which we are a part of.

We are not a part of God,

For God has no parts,

But we are a part of his creation.

The Prophet Muhammad,

Peace be upon him,

Teaches us how we can unite inner purity with outer obedience.

He shows us how to deliver our heart from greed,

Envy,

Arrogance,

Jealousy,

And lower desires.

I was only sent to perfect good character.

The Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Lived in the Quran by showing us how we can reach goodness and excellence in our heart through awareness and the practice of justice and lawfulness.

Quran 16 ayat 90.

Behold,

God enjoins justice and the doing of good and generosity towards one's fellow man,

And he forbids all that is shameful and all that runs counter to reason,

As well as envy,

And he exhorts you repeatedly so that you might bear all this in mind.

For it is the heart that teaches the mind to be kind and forgiving,

And how important it is to make sacrifices and to give people of oneself and of one's possessions.

The Holy Quran was revealed in the heart of the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

And it is our heart which is meant to drink and take us to a higher level.

Muhammad,

Peace be upon him,

Showed us that in all the fields of our worldly existence,

In everyday life,

In battle,

In art,

In dealing with our fellow human beings,

And with creation,

In times of peace and in times of war,

He,

Peace be upon him,

Taught us to admire nature and all living beings and to learn from them.

He,

Peace be upon him,

Showed us that only those who pay attention and respect to the people can be close to God.

He,

Peace be upon him,

Showed us that we reach the best results through mutual consultation,

That gentleness and insight can bridge gaps,

And generosity and solidarity dissolve separation.

He,

Peace be upon him,

Showed us how to foster in ourselves good manners,

Determination,

And the capacity to assert ourselves and that we should always pay attention to the mind and the heart of another human being.

He,

Peace be upon him,

Showed us the importance of an open mind and a free spirit,

The significance of knowledge and education,

And he showed us that every human being has been granted dignity and that secrets are to be kept and slander avoided.

Quran 50 ayat 16.

We are closer to him than his jugular vein.

The Prophet Muhammad,

Peace and blessings be upon him,

Showed us that we should build up a relationship to Allah,

And this does not stop at reading the Quran or following the beauty of its poetic language.

It includes understanding its message and trying to put it into practice in this world.

The Prophet Muhammad,

Peace and blessings be upon him,

Is our mu'alim.

The word mu'alim comes from ilm,

Which is often translated as knowledge,

But ilm is more than knowledge.

Ilm is to use one's mind and sensory perceptions to attain that which cannot be reached through them.

Quran 10 ayat 108.

Say,

O Prophet,

O mankind,

The truth from your sustainer has now come unto you.

Whoever therefore chooses to follow the right path follows it but for his own good,

And whoever chooses to go astray goes astray but astray to his own hurt.

The prayer for the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Symbolizes the meaning of our aspiration to existential unity and our constant remembrance of our spiritual center.

The most elementary expression of our moving towards unity is compassion,

Rahmah,

Because this is the power Allah gives us to remove the deceptive and passionate separations between I and you.

The Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Exemplifies everything at once.

He shows us our wholeness and our center,

Our existence and our knowledge.

Once the Prophet,

Peace be upon him,

Came to visit Sa'd ibn Ubaidah.

He,

Peace be upon him,

Brought bread and olive oil and said,

May all those who fast break their fast with you and the pious ones eat your food and the angels pray so that you will be blessed.

May Allah also spread this blessing on us.

Ameen.

Ameen.

Lord of all the worlds.

The practice suggested for today.

Quran 18 ayat 46.

The fruit whereof endures forever.

Are mentioned twice in the Quran,

I.

E.

Also in surah 19 ayat 76.

The good deeds whose fruit endure forever are subhanAllah,

Alhamdulillah,

La ilaha illallah,

And allahu akbar.

Repeat each of these formulas 33 times after praying the salat.

The messenger of Allah,

Peace and blessings be upon him,

Said,

To say this prayer is dearer to me than anything over which the sun rises.

SubhanAllah,

Alhamdulillah,

La ilaha illallah,

And allahu akbar.

Hallowed be Allah.

All praise is due to Allah.

There is no god but Allah,

And Allah is the greatest.

As-salamu alaykum.

The greeting of peace.

Salam to every part in you.

The greedy part and the generous part.

The lion in you and the fearful in you.

The cruel criticizer and the gentle.

The melancholic and the compassionate.

The joyful and the lazy.

The aggressive,

The stubborn,

And the forgiving.

May they come together in peace.

Salam.

Thank you for listening to this reading of the call of Allah,

A companion to the holy month of Ramadan,

With the permission of Rosina Fawzi al-Rawi.

Ramadan Mubarak.
