The ancient texts of India,
Particularly within Tantra and the Upanishads,
Describe an energy Kundalini that runs up and down the spine.
Modern medicine describes a substance,
Cerebral spinal fluid,
That follows an identical path and they just may be one and the same.
In this meditation you will get in touch with and stimulate this energy that some say is the intermediary between the infinite and the finite.
Let's begin by sitting or lying on your back with your spine straight and coming into the present moment.
Close your eyes and scan your body,
Getting in touch with any unnecessary tension.
Take a few full,
Deep abdominal breaths in and with each inhalation breathe in calmness and light and with each exhalation let go of any stress.
Continue this rhythm for a few moments,
Allowing your breath to guide you into a deeper state of relaxation.
Now bring your awareness to the base of your spine.
Here lies the sleeping serpent of Kundalini energy.
Visualize this energy as a warm golden light resting along the sacred sacrum.
As you breathe in,
Feel this light beginning to stir,
Awakening gently.
With each breath it grows brighter and more alive.
Visualize it spiraling upwards through your spine.
It moves slowly and steadily,
Passing through each of the chakras.
From the root it rises to the sacral chakra,
Then to the solar plexus,
The heart,
The throat,
The third eye,
And finally the crown.
Now shift your focus to the cerebral spinal fluid.
This sacred fluid flows along the same path through and around your spinal column and together they connect the physical and spiritual realms within your being and bathe your brain and nervous system in a life-giving essence.
Imagine this fluid as a river of light flowing gently and nourishing every cell it touches.
It carries the awakened Kundalini energy upwards,
Helping it to reach its full potential.
Now bring your attention to the fluid-filled third ventricle in your brain,
Often referred to as the cave of Brahma or the third eye in yogic teachings.
Like the sacrum,
This is a sacred space where the cerebral spinal fluid is created.
And the yogi se is the seat of divine consciousness where you create and can recreate your experience of the world or maya.
Visualize this area as a serene,
Expansive cave filled with golden light.
It is a place of stillness and profound peace and is the abode of the vital pineal and pituitary glands.
As the Kundalini and cerebral spinal fluid reach this cave of Brahma,
Feel the merging of energies in this sacred space.
The light within the cave intensifies and your consciousness begins to expand.
You are connected to the divine,
To universal consciousness,
And to the deeper mysteries of your being.
Allow yourself to rest in this state of connection.
Feel the unity of your body,
Mind,
And spirit as the Kundalini energy,
Cerebral spinal fluid,
And the cave of Brahma work in harmony.
You are balanced,
Aligned,
And at peace.
Spend a few moments here,
Bathing in the light of the cave of Brahma.
Feel the infinite wisdom and love that flow through you in this space.
MRI studies reveal that as you inhale deeply,
This energy travels up toward your brain,
And as you exhale fully,
It goes down the spine.
In this deeply relaxed,
Meditative state,
Use your will,
Breath,
And visualization to feel the energy moving.
In a pace that feels right for you,
Take 10 deep breaths,
Breathing in,
Feeling the energy rise and traveling down as you breathe out.
With the next inhalation,
Hold your breath in and contract the three bandhas,
Squeezing the anal muscles up,
Contracting the solar plexus region,
And tucking your chin,
Squeezing the throat area.
Hold and feel the cerebral spinal fluid and Kundalini pulsating into the brain.
Now slowly exhale.
Breathe normally.
Let's do that again.
Take in another deep breath,
Hold,
And engage all the bandhas.
Feel your brain and your consciousness becoming energized.
And slowly breathe out.
Trust that this energy is healing and transforming you on every level.
Now bring your awareness back to your body and the space around you.
Before you open your eyes,
Take a moment to express gratitude for this experience,
For the divine energy within you,
And for the healing that has taken place.
Know that you can return to this sacred space whenever you need guidance or renewal.
Now gently open your eyes,
Take a deep breath again,
And as you exhale,
Feel fully present in your body,
Grounded,
Refreshed,
And ready to enter back into the world.
