Guided Journey To Connect With A Guide
by Michael
This guided visualization takes you on a journey to meet with a guide or teacher. You'll begin with a gentle grounding before moving into the guided journey. There are two ways to work with this track: without an agenda other than seeing what guide shows up to connect with you or carrying a question. Either way works well! If you choose to work with a question, open ended questions tend to be more effective. I've been sharing a version of this with clients for years and they find it really supportive. I hope you will, too--enjoy!

Hi everybody and welcome to this guided meditation that is designed to help you connect with a guide or a teacher who may have some insight to share with you today.
There are two ways to work with this recording.
The first is to go in with no agenda other than connecting with whatever guide or teacher may want to connect with you today.
The second is to go in holding a question around a situation,
Relationship,
Opportunity,
Or challenge that you might like some insight on.
If you're choosing to work with a question,
What tends to work best are open-ended questions that seek insight as opposed to yes or no questions.
So for example,
Questions like should I do x tend not to work very well,
Whereas questions like what would be useful for me to know about this situation tend to get really good results.
So if you'd like to work with a question,
What I'll invite you to do is press pause on the recording and come back when you have your question formulated.
And if you're choosing to go in with no question just to show up and see what happens,
Let's get started.
To begin,
I'll invite you to simply sit in a way that feels comfortable to you.
If it feels safe to close your eyes,
You can do that.
If not,
You can simply allow them to soft focus towards the ground or off into the distance.
Once you have a comfortable seated position,
We'll bring some gentle attention to the breath.
As you breathe in,
Just be aware that this is you breathing in.
As you breathe out,
Be aware that this is you breathing out in this moment.
Inhaling,
This is you breathing in.
Exhaling,
This is you breathing out.
I'll invite you to simply notice the quality of your breathing.
Notice if the breath feels like it's coming easily,
If it's feeling a little bit constricted.
Just getting to know the breath,
There's nothing to change.
And let's take a nice,
Slow breath together.
So breathing in through the nose,
Releasing it with a gentle sigh.
You can allow that sigh to take you a little bit more into your body so you can really feel your weight against the chair.
Really allowing your body to settle onto the face of the earth so that the earth can rise up to support you more fully.
And let's do another nice,
Slow breath together,
Breathing in.
And a nice,
Gentle exhale.
As you continue to breathe with gentle attention,
I'll invite you to imagine that you're in a beautiful place in nature.
And this can be a place that you know well.
It can also be a place that just appears to you in your imagination in this moment.
As you find yourself in this place in nature,
I'll invite you to explore it with all of your senses.
What does the ground feel like beneath your feet in this place?
What does the air feel like against your skin?
What is the quality of the light?
As you look around,
What colors appear to you?
What trees or plants?
What color is the ground?
If you press your face to the soil,
The ground beneath you,
What does it see?
What does it smell like?
What's the texture of it?
And you can take a moment to explore,
Maybe placing your hands against a tree,
Listening for any sounds in this place.
And we'll take a breath here together,
Simply breathing in.
And releasing.
Now as you look around this beautiful place in nature,
Taking it in with all of your senses,
You'll notice that not too far away,
There's a path that leads further into this place.
Maybe it goes through the forest or maybe it's a tunnel.
Whatever it is,
This pathway shines with invitation.
And so you can go to that pathway when you're ready and just begin,
One step at a time,
Walking along the path.
And you'll notice as you do with each step,
The space around you changes a little bit,
The light changes.
The path may get a little bit narrow,
The lighting may become a little bit dim.
It never feels unsafe,
It just feels as if this path is taking you to a new space.
And soon it's constricted enough that there's just enough space for you to put one foot in front of the other.
And then the path begins to widen,
The light gets a little brighter.
And in front of you,
Maybe 20 or 30 feet,
You see just a few stairs.
These stairs may lead up,
They may lead down.
But whatever way they lead,
You just know as you approach them that these stairs are going to take you to a new space,
A space where you're going to meet your guide or teacher today.
And so when you get to the stairs,
You see that there are five of them going either up or down.
And we'll take them one at a time.
And allow them to bring us into this new space.
So starting at the top with step five,
Step four,
Three,
Two,
And one.
And you emerge into this new space that's just for you to meet with your guide or teacher.
And as you emerge into this space,
Simply notice it.
Is it indoors or outdoors?
What are the qualities of this space?
It may kind of move in and out of focus a bit at the beginning,
And that's fine.
You can just let it find its form.
And as it does,
Again,
I'll invite you to see if you can experience it with all of your senses,
Your sense of smell,
Hearing,
Touch.
And as you look around this space,
However it appears to you,
You see,
Not too far away,
There's a little stand.
And although your guide or teacher isn't there yet,
They've left you a note as welcome.
It's in an envelope with your name on it.
And so you can reach out and take the envelope.
Notice the texture of the paper in your hand.
And when you're ready,
You can open the envelope,
Pull out the note,
And you can know what's on it.
It might be words of welcome.
It may be a drawing.
Sometimes in this space,
Information may come to you simply as a feeling,
A knowing.
And as you take in this note of welcome,
You sense that the guide or teacher who's chosen to be with you today is approaching.
And when you turn around,
They'll be there with you.
What I'll invite you to do when you turn around is take them in from where their feet may be and gently let your eyes travel upwards to take them in.
Sometimes your guide or teacher may be human in appearance,
Other times it may be an animal or an energy.
When you're ready,
Go ahead and turn around,
And you can take in your guide or teacher greeting them with your eyes,
Going from their feet all the way up to the top of their head.
Noticing how they appear to you,
Just take a moment to breathe with them being together.
It's always nice to begin by thanking our guide or teacher,
Thanking them for being with us,
Taking the time to share wisdom and guidance.
Another really beautiful question to ask is simply to ask them what drew them to you today.
What is it about this moment,
This question that you may be holding,
That brought them to you?
Sometimes the answers will be quite detailed,
And others will be like,
Because you needed me.
Now when it feels right,
If you are carrying a question,
You can ask it to your guide.
What can you share with me about this situation?
What should I pay attention to?
And if you're not carrying a question,
You can simply say,
I'm here to learn,
I'm here to connect with you.
What might we share together in this moment?
And if your guide or teacher shares something in a way that you can't quite follow,
You can always ask them to slow down or to show you in a different way.
Information in these spaces sometimes comes through as words or images,
Shifts in understanding.
Even sensations in your body can be full of information.
So we'll just take a few moments for you to connect with your guide through presence,
Through conversation and exchange.
And when you're ready,
You can ask your guide or teacher if they have anything else to share with you today,
Anything that would be good or useful or supportive for you to know.
And now as we prepare to leave this space and say goodbye to our guide or teacher for now,
They have one final gift for you.
So they reach into their pocket,
And if they don't have a pocket,
Maybe it's simply the air.
And they reach out to you,
Holding a gift in your hand.
And you can know what this gift is.
It may be an object,
An energy,
A word.
And you can receive this gift.
Sometimes this gift wants to live in our body,
And if that's the case,
You can place your hand against wherever in your body it may want to live,
Your heart,
Your belly.
Your third eye.
I'll invite you to really allow yourself to receive this gift from your guide or teacher.
And now it's time to say goodbye to this guide or teacher just for now,
Knowing you can always connect again.
So you can say goodbye in whatever way feels right to you,
A bow,
A breath,
A hug.
And when you're ready,
You can make your way back to that staircase,
Leaving the space that's hosted this meeting and going along the first step,
The second,
Third step,
Fourth and fifth.
You find yourself making your way back along the path that took you here until you find yourself back in that original place in nature.
You can take a moment to look around,
Reattuning yourself to this beautiful place in nature,
Noticing how your experience of it may be different now upon your return from your meeting with your guide or teacher.
And we'll take a nice slow breath here.
And you can return back to your breath,
Being aware as you breathe in that this is you breathing in and being aware as you breathe out that this is you breathing out,
Feeling your weight in the chair.
And when you're ready,
You can gently open your eyes and reorient to the space around you,
Taking in your room,
Wherever you may be.
And what I always recommend after doing this particular meditation is to take some notes because often even if we think that nothing happened,
If we start to write down whatever we experienced over the last few minutes,
You'll find that there are a lot of layers of information that came through that you may not have been aware of in the moment.
So I invite you to do that.
And thank you so much for joining me on this journey.
I hope you found it useful and come back anytime.

Unbelievably grounding and yet uplifting. There’s a level of inner calmness from this one meditation that I have not gotten anywhere else.
