Getting Unstuck: A Brief Journey

This is one of my go-to techniques for those moments that I feel stuck, unsure of which way to go next. You'll start by settling into the breath and journeying to a place of safety and power. From there, you'll be invited into a new setting where you'll have the opportunity to sit with your 'stuckness' to receive insight, guidance, and support. I hope you find it as useful and powerful as I have!

Hi everybody and welcome to this exploration and meditation that is designed to help us in those moments where we feel stuck or at an impasse with a challenge,

A question,

Or a problem This works best with something that's as specific as possible,

So before we start just take a moment to identify something,

A question,

Or a relationship,

Some situation that has you feeling stuck You just don't know which way to turn or what step to take next And once you have that,

I'll invite you to find a way of sitting that feels comfortable to you And if it feels right for you,

You can close your eyes And if closing your eyes isn't interesting,

I'll invite you to soft focus at the ground or off into the distance And we'll begin simply by bringing some gentle attention to your breath Often when we begin to feel into those places where we feel stuck,

Our breath becomes shallow or maybe we even hold it unconsciously And so we begin by bringing some attention to the breathing,

Being aware as you breathe in that this is you inhaling And being aware as you breathe out that this is you exhaling in this moment And as we bring a little more awareness to the breathing,

I'll invite you to slow your breathing down Let that inhale stretch out Really enjoying the sense of inflation as you breathe in,

And let the exhale be a gentle letting go Letting go of tension,

Letting go of the need to figure anything out Even letting go of the idea that you have to know what comes next Let's take a nice slow breath together,

Breathing in And releasing And with that breath,

I'll invite you to imagine that you've been transported into a beautiful place in nature And you can allow this place to take shape and form around you,

Trees growing out of the fertile soil of your imagination As you allow yourself to enter this place,

See if you can experience it with your senses Feeling the air here brushing against your skin The texture of the ground,

The earth beneath you You can even reach out your hands and allow them to brush against plants or trees or grass Noticing any colors,

Any shapes And as you explore this place,

You can become aware that it is filled with a kind of protective power and energy That pulses beneath you and around you,

Holding you,

Supporting you Everything in this place,

The air,

The light,

The plants are breathing with you And as we enter a little bit more deeply into this place,

I'll invite you to connect with a moment from any time in your life where you felt powerful Where you felt supported Even if it was just a small moment And allow yourself to breathe with the energy of that moment,

Sharing it with this place And if you want to,

You can notice that this place,

The trees,

The light,

The plants,

Amplifies that feeling of centeredness,

Connection,

Of being supported Of feeling aligned And you can allow that feeling as much as you're able to move through your body with every breath And as you explore this sensation in this place,

You notice that off to your right,

In this beautiful place in nature,

There is a path that leads to a cave And it feels as if this path is inviting you to move towards it,

And so when you're ready,

Staying connected with your breath and bringing with you this feeling of alignment and support and power You can walk towards that path,

Feeling the earth beneath your feet,

Feeling the air against your skin,

Noticing any smells that come to you And when you're ready,

You can set your foot onto the path and begin to walk,

One foot in front of the other,

Towards this beautiful cave that seems to pulse with its own energy and invitation And soon you find yourself at the entrance to this cave,

And when you're ready,

Again,

One foot after the other,

You can step inside And you feel that the air immediately shifts and becomes cooler against your skin,

And what appeared to be a dark cave lights and glows gently with a kind of luminescence on the walls You walk into the center of the cave,

Where you find a perfectly still pool of water And as you gaze into this pool of water,

Ripples begin to form,

And a perfectly round sphere rises out of the water And as you look at it,

You realize that it contains the essence,

The energy,

And all of the complex pieces of this question,

Challenge,

Or situation that you have been feeling so stuck with And from this perspective,

You can walk around this globe You can examine this situation or question from any number of different perspectives So I'll invite you to find a viewing angle that feels interesting to you,

And simply observe Let this globe that contains the energy and essence of this seemingly intractable situation share information with you You can even hold in your heart the question,

What is being asked from me?

How may I move forward from this place in a good way?

And the invitation now is to simply receive,

Allowing yourself to be taught,

Invited,

Led,

Informed You may receive information as words,

As physical sensations or images You may understand them,

You may not Make a sincere effort to receive without needing to understand or figure out anything right now How might I move forward in this situation in a good way?

What is being asked of me?

Can you feel like you've received information and you're complete?

I'll invite you to take a breath,

Thank this cave for all of its wisdom and support Take a nice slow breath And when you're ready,

You can emerge from the cave back onto the path Find yourself back in that beautiful place in nature And noticing just for a moment how your experience of this place may have shifted through your experience And the information you received in the cave Take a nice slow breath If you want to,

You can place your hands on the earth in this place,

Maybe even touch your forehead to the ground in a gesture of gratitude Knowing that you can return here anytime as often as you'd like And bring your attention really gently back to your breath Being aware with each inhale that this is you inhaling Being aware with each exhale that this is you exhaling in this moment And let's take one together,

Nice slow breath in Release it with a sigh And I'll invite you to take about five minutes and simply journal about your experience Any information that came to you,

Even if it doesn't make sense or if you find yourself judging it,

Write it down And as you do,

See what else may begin to unfold Again,

This is to help us move into a different perspective,

To help us free ourselves from a place of stuckness and into action around these situations And we all find ourselves in that feel intractable Thank you so much for exploring this with me,
